WHERE WERE YOU/WHAT WERE YOU DOING:

- on 9/11? (9/11/2001) I was on duty on the ambulance that day. We happened to catch a small blip on the radio and turned on the TV just as the second plane hit. We spent the day watching. In the afternoon I remember watching the three jets go over (Air Force 1 and the 2 escorts) Late in the afternoon I signed up to go east to assist. Our fire units were not deployed however. I knew that life as we knew it had changed forever.

- when the space shuttle Challenger came crashing back to earth (1/28/1986)
I was working on the ambulance that day also. We were all standing around the tv in ER watching the launch. We were all stunned to a state of being almost numb. Very somber day.

- when Kennedy was assassinated? (11/22/1963) I was only 3 1/2 then but for some reason I can remember watching the funeral on TV.

- when space shuttle Columbia broke up? (2/1/2003) Once again WORKING on the ambulance (I have been doing the WAY too long) I was flipping channels and all of them went to the story. I dont think it really adversely affected me.

- when you Nixon resigned? (8/8/1974) I was a freshman in HS and we studied it in social studies class.

- when Reagan was shot? (3/30/1981) Okay that day I was working in the hospital recovery room. They actually cancelled the rest of the surgeries that day so everyone could watch the news.

What a nice offer. ::yes::
Hey, Julie doesn't live too terrribly far away, and Ian is great entertainment, even if you are zoned on Valium....

I also have a great foot DR (he is currently treating my fractured ankle) that could give a 2nd opinion.....

WHERE WERE YOU/WHAT WERE YOU DOING:

- on 9/11? (9/11/2001) I drove Shawn to high school. He attended a private school 30 miles from our house. The morning sky was clear and beautiful. I made a comment about it being 9-1-1 and hoping we wouldn't have any emergencies that day. I was scheduled to be in an all-day training session for a new Oracle budget program. A short time after 9AM, someone came into our training room and told us what was going on.

- when the space shuttle Challenger came crashing back to earth? (1/28/1986) I was on bed rest in the hospital and saw it happen on television. Shawn was born a few days later.

- when Kennedy was assassinated? (11/22/1963) I was only 2 years old but remember this. My mother was ironing in the living room while watching the television and I remember her crying. Then there was smoke in the room. During all of the excitement, she had put the iron down and burned a bureau doilie that she was ironing. Years later, my family was talking about the assassination and I said I remembered it. My parents said I was too young until I recalled exactly what had happened with my mother. My mother got up and went to her bedroom and took out the doilie she had burned years earlier from her bureau. It had a big huge iron burn hole in it. She said she never really knew why she had kept it all of those years but when I said she burned something she knew she had to show me.

- when space shuttle Columbia broke up? (2/1/2003) We were supposed to go shopping for Shawn's birthday party the next day. Tom was watching this on CNN. It was another very sad day in history. It brought back all of the thoughts and feelings I had after the Challenger accident. I remember seeing the space helmet in the field and then bursting into tears.

- when you Nixon resigned? (8/8/1974) I just remember seeing this on the news. I was 12 years old.

- when Reagan was shot? (3/30/1981) I was 19 years old and saw this on tv. It seemed so unreal!

Hi all,

I will add a few of my relevant GTKY.....

DisneyLand - I was about 15, went there with DB. I remember wanting to go on the submarirne, and leaving because it rained. It was the late 70's

WDW - I was meeting a girl I was dating long distance. I will refrain from further comment because it was before I met RRBB.

DLP - I was gonna suprize RRBB and take her there, but we found out she was preggers with Ian.
-----
On 9/11 I was driving into work. I was supposed to open, and I went for a bagel to Einstines. I remember telling someone in line that the news show made it sound like a small plane like a Cesna hit the building when someone walked in and told us that the second tower was hit.

Kennedy, I was a young baby.
Reagan Shot- I was in school.
Neil Armstrong - I was watching it at school ( I actually remember it)
Columbia- At WDW with Robin. I remember the next day on the bus to SSMC03 commenting that it was the saddest place on earth at the cape.

I know, I am boring.....

:figment:

Okay! It looks like I'm all caught up. Have a good night. I'm in meetings most of the day tomorrow so I won't have much time to log in. I'll try to check in if I take lunch. If not, I'll catch up again tomorrow night.

Ilene - thanks for the CafeExpress code.

I've felt so disconnected the past few days. I'm just glad to be home and will be sleeping in my own bed!

AnnMarie, how are you feeling these days? pixiedust:

Good morning everyone. More storms coming through Chicago. Steve and Tina sounds like you will have the worst of it as it is mostly south.

I think any child could be MORE entertaining when an adult is zoned on Valium.

I know there are many, many days that I could appreciate that effect.

:scared: :scared: :scared:

Of course, I'm just kidding. Being a "professional", I'd have to wait until after 5 p.m. to indulge.

I will say sometimes I open up the fridge and there is an ice cold beer sitting in there and it's very, very tempting. Then by the time all my daycare kids go home, I forget about it and that same beer is sitting in the fridge calling my name the next day again.

Good morning! Yesterday was a beautiful fall day here...sweater weather as I refer to it :-) Today is supposed to rain :-( It's very cool, woke up and wanted to stay cuddled in my blankets and dogs, LOL.

AnnMarie, glad you are back, hope you are feeling well. I noticed you weren't posting but didn't know you were away. I checked my calendar to see when we might "do dinner" before the cruise and wouldn't you know it we are busy almost every weekend between now and then. Sept 30th might be a go if you are free as well, otherwise we'll just plan on meeting you at the cruise! We have a joke going with good friends that live in Needham that the only time we see them is when we meet at Disney, LOL!

Well gotta get ready for work. Hope everyone has a good day!

P.S. the whole diet thing....yeah..I blew it :-( Scale at doctors office yesterday showed up 10lbs over my bath scale..sheesh! Oh well back to
the drawing board.

I am so tired of this rain. I've been in the house all week with the daycare kids, as Cameron's been home sick and I'm not comfortable leaving him alone. Today my kids have a 1/2 of school, so they'll be home for the afternoon.

Rainy, whiny, and cooped in the house. It's going to be a long day.

Maybe I should look for that beer  ;)

Sorry to hear Cameron hasn't been feeling well. I know it has been a while since the sun has been out. Makes me want to cruise even more!

Better rain than snow however. Hopefully we won't see that for many more months!

Kind of true.

If the kids came home and there was snow on the ground, they'd be outside playing for hours. :teeth: And, then they sleep like rocks at night. So, there is some advantage to it. And, keep in mind, I work from my home, so travel isn't an issue for me.

Good morning all. Early doctors appt. today for me.

Good luck, Cheryl. I hope you get that surgery out of the way before the cruise, if that's what's needed. pixiedust:

thats a different doctor. Althoughright now I have this pain in my lower abdomen(sp) that if this dr. can't help me with. I am going to the ER.

Cheryl hope you get some help with the pains.

Sorry to hear Cameron is feeling bad - this weather doesn't help things either. Yesterday was one ugly day! Go figure today it's very nice out and maybe the rain went away.

I will be busy washing clothes and cleaning the house. I need to get Deanna packed for her stay at her grandma & grandpa's house and then I have to get mine and John's things packed. Funny how it all gets done some how!

Happy Wednesday to all! Now that I've calmed down from yesterday and the possibility of not taking the cruise, things should hopefully be smoother sailing!
