My DD14 and I have been debating whether or not to go on SSMC06 as she would miss school, and we have made our decision.

Can you guess? I called DCL yesterday and officially cancelled before we would get into the 50% cancellation period. Hopefully, someone on the waitlist got a call and is extremely excited about going!

It was a difficult decision, but I think it is the right one for us. I know we will be missing a WONDERful time!!!! Please have a Konk Kooler for me while you are enjoying Castaway Cay. Oh - make that 2 Konk Koolers - one for each visit to CC!!!!!

:drinking1 :beach: :drinking1

Have a great time!!!!

I guess I better go delete my clippies -- oh, oh more tears... :sad1: :sad1:

1. How many brothers & sisters do you have? 2 younger brothers
2. What is your birth order? I'm the oldest
3. What was the house like that you grew up in? Ranch, two story, condo, apartment?? We moved so many times I didn't have just
one house, so apartment, duplex, ranch and colonial
4. What did you do first when school was over? Did you go home, to a friends, to a babysitters, daycare? I went home
5. What was your kindergarten teachers name? Are you kidding, how do you all remember this?!!!
6. What did you play with as a kid? Barbies, craft stuff: popsicle sticks, pot holder loops, crayons/paper, etc.
7. What was dinner time like as a child? Dad worked late, so it was mostly catch as catch can :-(

As Uncle Albert says in Mary Poppins, "Oh, now that IS sad." We'll miss you. But you have to do what you have to do. I'm sure lots of us will have Konk Koolers for you.

I had a PM from cubbybear1 to join our "party bus"

I will try to introduce cubbybear1 and hopefully get her out of lurking mode. Cubbybear1 and DH have been OKW owners since 1995. This is their first cruise and I hope we can encourage them to come out of lurking mode and introduce themselves.

WELCOME CUBBYBEAR1!!:goodvibes

We'll be on the "party bus" party: So I'd like stop "lurking" :lmao: and introduce ourselves to the group.
We’re originally from the Chicago area; lived in Glenview, IL until 1997 when we moved to Pinckney, MI outside of Ann Arbor. AKA: the gateway to Hell (MI) as featured in a Jeep commercial a few years back. Anyway, we're now in St. Louis, moved here in 2002 and very diehard Cub and Bear fans  (thus cubbybear1)
We have 2 grown sons and two granddaughters ages 9 & 4. We’ll all be returning home this spring for a week at OKW. It seems we’re always planning our next vacation even before we take the current one.
Our dream is to retire to Florida and work at WDW. Doesn't everyone!!

that's it in a nutshell.
Mic (see you real soon)key Mouse.... :mickeyjum

Julie your dress is amazing. My girls saw the picture and love it. They want to see your wedding so they can see the front of the dress. :rotfl2:

Kurt and AnnMarie congratulations on your milestones. Everyone has been busy today.

Cheryl gallstones are no fun. I found out I had them when I was pregnant with Brooke. I had my gallbladder out a few months after Brooke was born. It is really an easy surgery (if there is such a thing) and you will feel so much better after.

The UPS man just left here and I think a school exploded in our living room. I can't believe how many books we have. This is really exciting.

I had my gallbaldder out 13 days after I had DS. April 15th! The surgery was easy but my recovery was more difficult than the childbirth! If your going to have it done do it soon- you only have 7 weeks to recover before the cruise!!
Best wishes on a speedy recovery (either improvement by diet or surgery)

Chris

1. How many brothers & sisters do you have? There were 2 girls and 3 boys, and we were all 3 years apart. How did my parents do this before birth control? mmmm?

2. What is your birth order? I am the oldest.

3. What was the house like that you grew up in? Well, the first house I remember was a very small ranch, then we moved to a really neat century old 2 story with lots of porches and fireplaces, then to another older 2 sotry ( but not as old as the first). My parents liked to buy old houses, fix them up and sell them and do it all over again!

4. What did you do first when school was over? Home. My didn't go to work until I was older.

5. What was your kindergarten teachers name? Mrs Freeman, she was a friend of the family, or I wouldn't have remembered.

6. What did you play with as a kid? Board games, baby dolls, crayolas and paper dolls, but the toy I remember the best was a huge train set left in the attic of one of our houses, we fixed it up and had such fun!

7. What was dinner time like as a child? supper

8. What major news event do you remember from when you were a child? I was in 8th grade when JFK was assasinated. Also I remember the first space capsules (oh, my that dates me!) Also, during grade school it was the Cold War and we had to practice getting under our desks in case of a bomb attack.

I'm in the same boat as you. :) When our waitlist came through we opted to decline it and not go. Too many factors---OSU football schedules and finances beign the top two.

I know everyone who goes is going to have a WONDERful time. But SOMEONE had to stay home and post to the thread, right?? :lmao:

Hmmm.....as a rabid OSU Buckeye fan family, we'd have to totally agree with this nickname!!! :lmao: :lmao:

Chris

That's about where I was in 2001. Although it was even LESS time. I started having attacks about 5 weeks before a Disney trip (never had had a horrible attack before that point)

On the third attack I went to the ER (Saturday night/Sunday morning)
Monday I saw my primary doc
Tuesday I had an ultrasound
Wednesday I saw a surgeon
Thursday I had my gallbladder out (at a speciall scheduled EARLY morning surgery---staff had to be called in early b/c the surgeon scheduled me before the OR was even OPEN!)

Course, it REALLY helps to have someone (dh) in the business who knows ppl. Originally my primary doc had me scheduled for a surgical consult two weeks later. Dh said "no way" and called another surgeon who told him "bring her over now, I don't have office hours, but I'll see her when I'm out of surgery." :) I don't know what I'd do if I had to follow the "rules" :)

Welcome to the DIS, the DCL forums, and most importantly to the Member Cruise thread!

Wow we were neighbors for a good long time as Glenview is right next door to us!

I hope when you get a chance that you'll stop by the web page and meet everyone and also that you'll send me your info so we can include you on the buttons, etc. Full details on the web site!

Sadly we don't have another Disney vacation planned beyond this one. But there was a time when we had FOUR trips planned in a 13 month period. I believe one of them was SSMC03!

David wants to retire to Florida, too. He wants a job not just with Disney, but specifically with DVC. I've heard those jobs are actually hard to come by. The thing is, he has trouble with the humidity levels we get here in Big D. I can't imagine him living in Florida with even higher levels.
