28 DEGREES - OMG I'd need a huge PARKA!!!

How quick that northern blood thins, and you call yourself a Hawkeye?

tsk tsk:lmao:

HA HA you guys :) it does thin quickly - hope it thickens up if we move back someday.

Can I just say that I must have a sign on me today that says "say something mean or do something crappy to Julie cause she needs to be kicked one more time" - someone take the sign off! Work has been a nightmare plus I listened to the radio on my way in and some 9 11 stuff was on and so then I was already emotional and to top it off the surgery center called and for my MINOR outpatient foot procedure on Friday (basically numb the foot/leg, inject 2 lesions so they go away) the portion I will owe them is............... $675 (and no that is not the Doc portion or the Anestesiologist either). I asked the woman if that was right as it meant that they charged $6700 for the procedure and she said they could contractually charge that much - for 30 minute procedure??? WHATEVER. So I called the Dr's office and left a message to have them call me as this seems ridiculous. I've had the same procedure in the office for my $20 co pay on a smaller scale, certainly this does not warrant a $6700 charge.

Sorry if you work in the medical field, I think it's highway robbery!

Julie, I have no medical field experience, but I do know that doctors can and will negotiate their rates. When I was going through my divorce, I was going to a doctor for the same procedure over and over and over again. It got to the point where I felt I didn't need to go anymore and want to go due to the cost, and then the doctor waived his fees so that I would continue to come for the visits. So, I know they are negotiable.

Sometimes I think when you have good insurance it seems like it costs more.

Thanks Cindy! The kicker is that the doc only charged me $120 which includes all my after car - this is just the facility I am going to to have the procedure done which is probably why I am so peeved at them.

Okay, I have to go back 5 pages to catch up but I just found out some exciting news! Guess where DH and I will be in 4 weeks! GREECE!

DH received a FREE trip to Greece for a few days! He is checking to see if we can bring DD and how much it would cost. If not we will have a little getaway together with some other employees. Good thing I quit work!;)

Here is the hotel. Anyone know anything about Greece?

Mary, I have a Creative Memories Consultant who keeps a wish list of items I'd like to have. When Christmas comes around, she has Gary's phone number as well as his email at work. Dianna just gives him a call and offers suggestions. She does this for a lot of people and all Gary has to do is give her a debit card number, and it's all taken care of. Dianna then wraps everything, boxes it up and mails it to the house.

It works great!!! :cool1:

That's one heck of a CJ consultant. She must make a killing during the Holidays.

Wait, wait, wait---you have health insurance, right? What kind of plan--traditional indemnity (80/20 type deal) or HMO, PPO? This doc is he considered on of your insurance companies in network docs?

And I'm assuming this is some type of surgery center not his office that's going to bill you right? Do you have a choice in what facility he performs the surgery at?

I'm sure TX insurance isn't the same as NY insurance, but I know alot about insurance.

For anyone who wants a blast from the past - here is the sign-in thread for SSMC03. We had a whopping 159 posts!

WOW Mary nice find! Luckily with 159 posts, it was an easy read. I posted a whopping 3 times on that thread. And small world--Robin you actually replied to me!! :rotfl: It's amazing how many people I know on that thread that I didn't know then and know now.

WHERE WERE YOU/WHAT WERE YOU DOING:

- on 9/11? (9/11/2001)
I was at work, I worked for NYS Tax & Finace Collection call center at the time. When I heard about the first plane I was thinking like many others, what dummy hit the WTC, can't you see it it's big enough.
I remember myself and coworkers making calls on our cell phones because we didn't have a tv we could watch so we were relaying info to each other and pulling out our radios to try to find out something.
Since I worked in the call center when NYS has any major thing happen and they set up a hotline we go from talking to taxpayers to being the SEMO (State Emergency Management Office) hotline. So that phone number you would see on TV to call and make donations of any kind after the attack you were calling me and my co-workers. We were there 24/7.
4 weeks later I was sent to NYC to help cover the NYC hotline. We were getting calls from friends and family still looking for loved ones and it was just after the anthrax scare so we also had medical personel working the hotlines with us to answer those questions.
Luckily my parents were on Vacation in Florida because Jeff stayed home to get Nick on and off the bus which I'm thankful for because he was supposed to be in NYC that day.

- when the space shuttle Challenger came crashing back to earth? (1/28/1986)
I was driving home from the supermarket with my mom when we heard it on the radio.

- when Kennedy was assassinated? (11/22/1963)
I was not born yet

- when space shuttle Columbia broke up? (2/1/2003)
I think I was at home because I remember them reshowing it on tv

- when you Nixon resigned? (8/8/1974)
I don't remember. I was only 5 yrs old

- when Reagan was shot? (3/30/1981)
I remember hearing about it but I don't remember exactly what I was doing.

LOL the $675 is my 10% after my deductible and is covered by my insurance....but I do have a call into my doctor to discuss this.

Don't you know it! I plan on making these for all my family & friends for Christmas. They were really easy to do. The funny thing is that this one didn't have a lot of direction. We were given a lot of supplies, and some ideas on how to design it, and we were left on our own. However, I will get the instructions that they did give us if anyone wants it. They said that every clock is "alterable" and they all work the same, so I'm going to give it a try.
