I think it was Mary who mentioned getting a van, I'd be up for that as well, if anyone doesn't mind riding with the kids. (or I can always strap one to Julie's and one to Mary's roof!) Anything to get me to the port before 3pm! Georgie really scared me now!!
I went to bed last night with our best option being renting a car from Friday - Sunday from Avis and then taking DCL transfers back. For $159 but that includes renting 2 car seats at $9 each per dayThe big problem is I need at least an intermediate SUV or minivan to fit out luggage plus the double stroller.

I also believe with Southwest you can have Gary check in online for you guys at home and then you go to a kiosk in the terminal and it prints your boarding passes for you. I'm not at all sure how it works....I've read here on the DIS that people have done it.

Cindy - safe travels today and have a great time at WDW!
Yeah, the parking lot was fun. And, I remember seeing Cindy and her family come in, as we were heading across the street. And, you're right Mary, it's SO much nicer to just get the boarding number and sit and relax. When we cruised in Feb, we just took a spot (since we were the 1st family in the terminal) and the girls watched cartoons until it was time to board.WDWLVR said:We're keeping the same plan as last year. Since we are driving down we'll check out of Boardwalk, head over to Mary Queen of the Universe for Mass, then a quick breakfast at McDonalds and then over to the port!
Yes last year when we pulled into the holding lot we were right next to Karen (ohiominnie) and her whole family. Then Cheryl and Todd joined us as did Amy. As we were pulling out we saw Cindy's family.
The best thing about this year is with the new boarding procedures there aren't any long lines to stand in. So what we did in May is just grab an area of the couches and all the DISers could mix and mingle!

(At BC it's between concierge and the marketplace) You can check in, check your luggage and print your boarding passes all at once. Be sure to check the time requirements (ie your bags have to be there at least 3 hours in advance etc) and make sure you know when they open/close. The employees work for the airline - which means you should probably tip them if they handle your bags. We use it all the time and love it, heck we use it when we rent a car - no lugging the luggage!
Oohh, don't say flood. Around here, if we get a fast, heavy rain storm, our backyard floods and twice it has made its way into the family room.#1Mouse said:Wow 3 accidents 2 floods - this is a really "active" group! Hopefully we don't see flood #3!
WOW - 20 hours ahead of schedule, that's AWESOME. You'll have to let us know when that show airs!!!#1Mouse said:Update on Extreme Makeover Home Edition.
They are about 20 hours ahead of schedule! John wasn't suppose to go back until 1:00 AM tomorrow morning, but he got a call at 7:30 this morning asking them to come back and test the lines they put in and cover the boxes (intercom/alarm). John's delimma - he had planned to be at a clients office all day today working on their computer system and getting some other computers ready to ship to their office in Chicago, but he also wanted/needed to be at the House. He called the client and tried to beg off for a few hours and found out that this client is a contractor for the builder that's building the house! They completely understood, told him they can reschedule for a later date and for him to spend the time he needs at the house! When he gets home tonight I'll post a picture of the house - it is very nice and BIG!

alikat99 said:Then, tonight Emily has swim lessons and I'm doing a research/focus group type thing tonight for our local paper. They called a couple of weeks ago and are doing a study on how people read the paper. They are going to give me $100 cash to read today's paper at their facility this evening. I figured that I couldn't beat it, and it gives me a few extra spending $$$s for my scrapbooking trip next month.
Ohhhh, if we weren't from FL and driving our own car, I would LOVE the party bus!!!rsschneck said:Good morning everyone! I have contacted Mears and this is what I found out. We have 2 charter options #1 an 11 passenger van or #2 a 47 passenger motor coach. I asked for round trip prices back and forth to BCV (additional stops would be additional money). The prices quoted included gratuity and everything.
#1 Van round trip would cost $408 round trip. Breaks down to $37.09 per person (including little ones).
#2 Coach round trip would cost $897 round trip. Breaks down to $19.09 per person (including little ones) if the coach was FULL. This would be the most economical if we had enough people. Plus, luggage would not be an issue. Everything needs to be paid at least a month prior to sailing. Do we have enough cruisers interested? I would take on the task if we had enough interest. Could be the PARTY BUS!
Diana Lyn said:I was watching MSNBC and the travel guy from the Today show was giving his expert opinionsHe was saying he hasn't checked his luggage on a plane since 9/11 and instead uses some sort of shipping service that basically gets your luggage to it's destination without being on the plane. He said those folks are going to make some serious cash with things the way they are now. Right now he says there are 11 companies that do it---anyone want to start up a 12th one with me?
