Welcome Home Amy! Glad you guys had a nice weekend away. Did Chris enjoy his car ride down there?

Diana sounds like the scrapbooking convention was successful. I love the Disney book you made. I want to make one of those!

Welcome back!

Thanks so much Diana Lyn and Chipscinderelly,

Everyone sounds so terrific. My DH & I look forward to meeting everyone on the cruise (okay, maybe not everyone, but we'll sure give it a shot!)

We live in Canada's Arctic (think Polar Bears!!) so the Bahamas are really looking good to us!!

Glad to have you sailing with us northerngirl! The 12 weeks will pass by quickly especially with all the chatter that goes on here. Stick around, join in!

I'm thinking the Bahamas will be an extreme change for you weather wise - but it will be fun!

Sorry everyone for my ignorance....DVC Cruise 'newbie' here.......

Is there going to be a pre-cruise meet for DVC members prior to our cruise (ie. night before party??).

Can anyone please advise??

Twelve weeks can't come fast enough!!
Welcome to the group, northerngirl!!! Mary and Diana have already pointed you in the right direction for more information on our little DIS group. Stay around and get to know us. We've been on SSMC05 and had a blast, and I'm sure hoping that SSMC06 is just as good, if not better!!

Well, it was a LONG 2 1/2 hour drive for him, but he's getting better each day.

Welcome back Cindy, sounds like you guys had a fun relaxing time! We really need to find some time (and points too) and take a trip to Hilton Head.

Exactly why we have the points at Hilton Head that we only use for Hilton Head. Never borrowed, never banked, always used in the same use year. Knowing we have enough for a week every summer makes it all the more special.

We've been there for 6 summers now and we're definately looking forward to year #7 coming right around the corner. We're going to try it in March for spring break. The weather won't be as hot and humid as we've always dealt with so it should mean less laundry with not having to change clothes all day long. We heard the sharks won't be biting but there will be other fish looking for an easy meal so we're excited in a new way for our next trip. :cool1:

Welcome - glad you came over to the meets thread to join us!

There has been no official announced DVC Members Meet prior to the cruise from DVC. We are however planning a DIS meet that Saturday and would love to have you join us. We'll be getting together in the Solarium at the Beach Club on 3 pm Saturday. We haven't put up details on the website yet but we will.

To meet everyone come on over to the website (the link MaryJ gave you or you can click on the Member Cruise logo in my signature). If you would like to send in your info we'll be happy to add you to the gallery. Plus we'll be giving out buttons to all who give us their info. You can see from the chart what we are looking for and can send it to me at member2006@monorailgreen.info

I still remember the first pm I got from you Gail asking about what to pack and would it be ok to wear capri's to dinner. Can you believe that was over 3 years ago! How wonderful that DVC and the DIS have brought us all together. That was your first cruise and now you are one of the veterans helping new cruisers!

Glad you decided to come and join us!

As previously stated, no news on an "Official" meet but we are getting together at BCV at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday before the cruise, just in case there isn't anything.

A bunch of us are also doing MNSSHP on the 26th.

Any questions, ask away! They have made all of us newbies feel welcomed!

I guess this means that I don't need to ask if you want to trade for VWL points. I'm beginning to think that the only way I'll ever get to HH is to trade with someone, and I'd prefer to trade with someone I know.

I know!!!! Maybe sometime Gary won't be able to go and you'll need someone to travel with!! I'll volunteer! :)

Oh, I remember that! That dinner dressing stuff was so foreign to me! I can't believe that was over 3 years ago. Yep, we've been on 5 cruises after that 1st one! It didn't take much for us to be hooked! Actually, I was hooked on cruising as soon as I walked on the ship!

Diana,
OMG, I could so get into the scrapbooking if I let myself. I NEED one of those mickey board books and the chipboard book and the one with quotes that folds are terrific. I just can't afford another passion (knitting and disney just about empty my pockets) but the temptation is there.

Northerngirl,
Join in the fun. This is a very friendly group. A few are meeting before the cruise and after the cruise for mini meets. There is one at BCV on Sat before, one on the cruise before the firedrill and one or two after the cruise I believe at MK.

I'm very torn a part of me says the cruise can't get here fast enough but as the weeks tic by and I haven't lost any weight I want the time to stand still just long enough to lose at least 10#, LOL.

Missed cruise chats this weekend due to Beta testing some software for the mac. It was fun and frustrating because you wanted the program to work seamlessly but there were bugs (of course that was what we were trying to identify!) :rotfl2:

WOW Diana those books are great. The only time I can do stuff like that is in classes.. give me a "kit" and I can put it together. :thumbsup2

Welcome - norterngirl. This is our first cruise and I have learned alot from these gals and guys.

Welcome Back Cindy

We stopped at HH on our way back from WDW in 2004. I loved the area, but there did not seem to be much to do 1st week of Christmas. I would love to addon at HH enough points for a 1 bedroom for the week in summer. One day ;)

:welcome: Welcome to this thread, Northerngirl!!

Cindy - Welcome back!

Diana - Cool scrapbook stuff. I might have to go to one of these conventions one of these days!

Amy - I wouldn't pass up a free weekend in a swanky hotel either. Glad you had a good time

Julie - That's kind of bummin about the Castle. Hopefully everything works out ok.

Yea to everyone who got the excursions they wanted. Other then the Banana boats I'm not sure if we are going to do anything else exept just hang out.

HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY HALYNA ! :cheer2:

Ok I tried to post last night but I got that "Server busy" so I went into chat and got booted out so I took that as a sign that I should go to bed since I was going to have a busy day at work today. So off to slumber land I went.

So here is the skinny on out week Camping out with the Boy Scouts. Like I posted previuosly we had a lot of fun.

Our camp site was huge and we had plenty of tents and many empty tents. The camp provides the tents which are wood pallet floors with wood frames then green canvas like something from a WW1 movie (I'll have a link with pictures at the end of the post).

We had meals in the Dining Hall and we would have to send 3 boys down about 15 minutes before the meal so that could set the tables and be the waiters for that meal and then they would have to stay to clean up the table.
Let me tell you they fed us well. We did not have one bad meal in my opinion. They even did a "Christmas in July" one day where the dining hall was decorated and Santa stopped by. Oh and you ALWAYS sang a song at meals (the songs were really goofy and cute).

We had a little rain the first night but the majority of the week was warm and humid. We did get a downpour on Friday afternoon. Now let me set this up for you. All the tent flaps had to be rolled up in the morning before the boys went off to go do their stuff because they do a site inspection everyday. Well the boys are gone and the only ones in camp are myself, Jeff and 2 of the older boys who are the Patrol leaders. Well it starts pouring like mad so we are running around the camp to put the flaps down on the tents so that everyones stuff can stay dry. Well we got soaked down to our undies.
It was such a riot!

We got the highest score on our site inspection one day so the next day our Troops flag got to fly at the camps main flag pole. We had to have 7 of our boys be the colorgaurd to raise and lower the American, State, & trrop flag in the morning and lower them at night. Well Nick was the only "new" scout that got picked for the colorgaurd.

We also did some goofy things too like fly a pringles can and some swim trunks from the flagpole. All in all we had a good time.
There wer so many other things but this post would be huge!
So enjoy a couple of pictures!

I can't wait for our Fall Camporee in Saratoga State Park at the end of September. Their will be a Native American Festival going on at the park that weekend also so the boys will be going to that.
