2006 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC06 - October 22, 2006 Part 3

Well we made it home and I am ready to go back. Had a great trip. I don't think I would stay at SSR again. The buses were horrible. We waited 45 min for a bus to AK and 40 min to DTD for the block party. We would have walked but it was raining and I didn't feel like getting wet. The other problem we had was the pool was soooo crowded at all times. It was even full at 11 pm and kids were climbing up the slide to use it. It was nuts. Connie we looked for you the few times we went to Artist point but you wern't there.

Julie I hope the pictures work out. I see that they are now saying that the rehab will be done on 10/10. I really hope that is true for you.

Tell him to take it easy even though he thinks he's feeling good. I learned the hard way after 4 C-sections. Does he feel like the surgery was successful?

John has an office in the house and finds it hard to get things done when the kids are here and mine are old enough to understand.

Well, so far, he still can't sit straight on. He has to sit on one side or the other, since he's still kinda tender. I guess we'll know in a couple of weeks.

Sorry to hear that, we had a great time at SSR. We rather enjoyed the walks to DTD. We did take a rental car (for the child seat) so we weren't reliant on Disney Transport. Our main complaint was the food there.

Welcome back home and welcome back to the stuffy, muggy weather!

Was your building close enough to the quiet pool? That's the one we used and it didn't seem too bad. The main pool always seems to be mobbed. At SSR is there only the main pool and the quiet pool (the one that is across from DTD)?

I just got back from SSR about a week ago, and even though the resort is beginning to grow on me, I have to agree about the buses. We met one family who had been waiting for a bus to Typhoon Lagoon for over an hour! We also wanted that bus since it also went to DD. True, we could have walked but DD all ready was getting a blister and didn't want to do any more walking than necessary. After the dad went over to the front desk and complained, a bus "miraculously" appeared about 10 minutes later.

We ate at both Artist Palette and the Turf Club and found them both to be fine.

Well, we might be taking a last minute trip to Naples for the weekend. I just got a call from a good friend. They are on their way down to the Ritz-Carlton in Naples and offered us a free room for Friday and Saturday night. Her DHs brother was supposed to go, but bailed on them at the last minute, so they have a fully-paid room that will just sit empty. So, she offered it to us. You just can't beat a free hotel room, and the fact that it's at the Ritz-Carlton makes it that much better.

Thanks again everyone for thinking of us. I have seen the threads about 10/10 and would love for that to be true.... but the information I have is that it's through part of December.

Sorry that the SSR trip was not so grand. We normally rent a car but I have heard the bus situation is not good from others as well.

Unfortunately, the two day bike rental and two day float rentals weren't showing up.

Also, the Snorkel rental is just for my wife since I already have my own equipment. I could have reserved the "Getaway Package" for her, but it only saved $5 per day and then we would be locked into the snorkel, floats and bikes for both days.....the way I ended up doing it, we could cancel any one of them for either of the days and still do the others.

Thoughts, suggestions?

Welcome back home and welcome back to the stuffy, muggy weather!

Was your building close enough to the quiet pool? That's the one we used and it didn't seem too bad. The main pool always seems to be mobbed. At SSR is there only the main pool and the quiet pool (the one that is across from DTD)?

We were in the building close to the main pool. We saw the quite pool across from DTD on our last night and I wish we would have tried it out. It didn't seem as busy.

Thanks Lily! We're actually doing well now with it (I should have posted that, we're over the shock and moving on) - we came up with some suggestions and spoke to our planner today... he's wonderful... and so now we just wait and see.

Just listen early next week for the thump when you hear me fall over after getting our budget.
