I take it you aren't a sports fan. You were "insulted"? Insulted as in you thought you were above having to listen to it? Did you not realize you were free to leave the show at any time and you weren't locked in the theater or chained to your seat? It's not like you bought tickets to the theater and they showed the performance on a television screen. That would have been insulting. And acutally I don't think you paid any extra for the show, you paid what DVC charged it's member for the cruise, the show was just something optional to participate in.
Actually, if you recall, it was on a screen and a part of the "Special DVC Entertainment" (which was part of the surcharge on the trip...)
The insulting part to me was the taped part. I just don't feel that a live show is a place for commercials; even if I were a big sports fan, seeing the intro to wild world of sports does not belong in a live performance. It could be compared to going to a concert and finding out it is all lip synched/Air Guitar by another artist.
As far as being able to leave, It takes a lot to get me to walk out of any performance. (I have walked out of one show in my life.)

Besides, I wanted to see the Andrea McCardle...

Just curious, what's wrong with Andrea McCardle's family?
Nothing really, I guess. Just hated their "performance" on SSMC03.

Diana - silly me forgot you were on SSMC03 with us :rotfl: I thought it was a good perfomance at the time. I do think that Jodi Benson and Susan Egan were better but I would take Andrea over many others that Disney couldh have brought in.
Don't get me wrong, I think Andrea is good. But I didn't care about watching Monday Night Football commercials - if I want to do that I'll turn on the television, and I really didn't think the daughter was very good at all. If it was just Andrea I think the evening would have been much better.

Ilene hope your follow up with the Dr went well today.

My Disney order came in today. I ordered the red/white/blue Mickey tee shirts for July 4th, a Tink bathing suit for me and the black Mickey 3 piece luggage.

I tried to order the tee for Deanna but they sent me an e-mail and said they were out of her size, so I was able to go over to TDS and pick one up there. The Tink bathing suit is going back - why do they make their bathing suits 2 sizes too big??? The luggage is actually pretty nice for $40. We'll see how it holds up. Within the past 3 years between the airport handlers and the cruise ship handlers - my luggage is pretty beat up.

I'm trying hard to not buy the twirly dangerous light up toys for the girls just yet because I can see Emma using it as a weapon and hurting Julia with the twirlers! :rolleyes2

Oh I see those twirlers getting tangled in Emma's hair :scared1:

There is no DVC Entertainment Surcharge. The cruise is X amount of points. You pay for everything included in the cruise. The extra money compared to regular cruises has to do with the fact that it is a charter, we werent on that cruise specifically for the Andrea McArdle show, you didn't pay any extra for that, there is no "Entertainment Fee" and if you want to nickle and dime it, the amount for that one specific show is miniscule. You aren't understanding what I'm saying about the show at all, for example, if you paid $100 for a ticket to see Othello and they rolled out a television set and played the movie O, you would rightfully be "insulted". Her husbands performance was a brief part of the show and to get the "full effect" they played what he was famous for on a screen. Big deal.

A huge part of the Barry Manilow concert in Vegas and the one I'm going to in AC in the fall is the part where he tells the story about how he got his break and goes through all the jingles he's written over the years. People perform what they are famous for.

The bottom line is, some people enjoyed the show, some people didn't. That's life. There's no reason to be "insulted" because you didn't enjoy the entertainment provided on the cruise. And there is a huge difference between not likeing something and being insulted by it. It's called tolerance, we live in a world full of diverse cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds. Get used to it.

I read something on the Budget Board the other day about their suits being 2 sizes too big too! I didn't know you were ordering one, or I would have mentioned it to you. The budget board isn't just for budgeting, you get some great fashion advice there too! :lmao:

Diana, Chill, You asked, I told you why I didn't enjoy the show. If you have a personal problem with me, send me a PM and we can discuss it.

On SSMC05, I figured the extra $$ was b/c tips were prepaid. That was nice. :)

The guys suits must run big too. I bought one for John a year ago and lets just say if he moves too much in the water it comes off. :lmao:

I think they are prepaid for SSMC06 too! That was nice not to have to think about them even though we did tip extra. We had good Servers, OK our Asst Server was a bit too flirty with John but our Server was good. She's (Asst Server)just lucky it was my husband she was flirting with and not my younger sisters husband. I found it funny, my sister would have decked her!

Now why have we all been spelling her name as DeeVee Cee? I mean it makes perfect sense to spell it that way. Haven't we seen DVC spell it as DeeVee Cee previously? I'm such a spelling/grammar snob! :lmao:

And just my luck, I have two trips planed in a 2 month period and I won't be at WDW on a Wednesday on either trip. :guilty: August is Thursday-Sunday and October is Friday to Saturday, but we'll be at CC on Wednesday. Oh well, I'd rather CC over Welcome Home Wednesdays any day!

I thought it was DeeVee Cee too.

I would like to squeeze a trip down in July or Aug, but when I suggest it John just looks at me like I have 3 heads or something. Deanna wants to take a mom & me trip - I think it would be cool, John just shakes his head. I think he just doesn't get it :confused3

Hey everyone! Lots of posts today! We were busy today. I had a meeting in Lakeland for my sorority's 50th reunion next spring. Then, I went to dinner with some friends and shopping at Kohl's. We are just starting to get Kohl's down here, and I've missed them from Chicago. But, at current gas prices, I'm not willing to drive 45 miles just to go shopping. But, if I have to be in town, then why not go shopping, right???

Tomorrow, I'm having ladies night out with some of the mom's from Emily's preschool class and her teacher. We all get along really well, so a local paint-your-own-pottery shop has a DIVA night with goodies, wine, etc. So, we thought, what a perfect girls night out.
