It's a secret club Karen and I are going to join. :lmao:

Wow, I'm in a wacky mood today!

No, seriously, COSI is a museum in Columbus, OH. It probably stands for Columbus Science something. :confused3 For the summer there is an incredible Star Wars exhibit with the original Yoda puppet, lightsabers, an original landspeeds and scale models of the space ships. I'm a big time Star Wars geek, so this is right up my alley. I'm really excited about it and usually I HATE to go to OH, I usually pull all sorts of last minute stunts to try to get out of going and this year, I'm actually looking forward to it.

Cool, ours had that exhibit a few times back, was very cool :)

Okay, then. I'll just continue to call it the Museum of Science & Industry, The Field Museum, The Shedd Aquarium --- all the "Long", non abbreviated names. ;)

I looked on their website and it's only referred to as COSI on it. I couldn't find what it stood for. :confused3 It must be Columbus Museum of Science and Industry but they left out the M b/c CMOSI would sound stupid! :lmao:

Isn't there a COSI in Toledo too? I think that's where our school kids go for field trips.

Gail - according to the website yes there is one in Toledo and another in Columbus.

I just read on the main page of the DIS that Millionaire is closing. Is anyone else upset about this? This is one of the few attractions my mom looks forward to. There always seems to be a large crowd for each showing even at slow park times of the year. It says a new ride is coming in that area. I guess chalk one more up for the extreme rides taking out one of the slower shows.

BTW, I'm about 50 pages behind but have been catching up slowly and will post again when I'm caught up.

Jeff

I read that too. I liked Millionaire, but we really have only been in there twice over the years. The first time that we went, I got in the hot seat after the first person couldn't answer a pretty easy question. It was pretty cool, but I was very nervous!! I ended up getting to $128,000, but didn't go any further since I was completely stumped! I still have the prizes that I won somewhere around this house.

Some other news that I found out from my mom that sounds pretty cool. There is talk of a new hard-ticket event at the Magic Kingdom. They are calling it Pirates and Princesses and it will be in January, February & March. They don't have any dates yet, or when tickets go on sale, or cost yet, since it's still in the planning stages. But, mom said that it will be a little like MNSSHP where you would search for candy, beads, treasures, etc. She made it sound like you could go down two different "paths", Pirates or Princesses, and each path would have characters related to that path, etc. As soon as I hear more from mom, I'll let you guys know. They just talked to them about it on Saturday, so it's still pretty new.

I forgot to add that it closes on August 19th. This was packed during Star Wars Weekends this year, I heard 2 people won the cruise during those special Star Wars shows.

Amy - That's too cool you made it to the hotseat. I'd be nervous too, what was the question you were stumped by?

1. Not counting points or trips, what gift would you like to receive from DVC?

2. Based on the success of Art Linkletter last year what old-time Disney star would you like to hear talk on this cruise? Dick Van ****, Julie Andrews

3. Which current Disney star would you like to see perform on the cruise? Jodi Benson (loved her at Member Homecoming), Christy Carlson Romano
(Just about anyone BUT Andrea McCardle's family!!!!!)

4. What special behinds the scene guest would you like to see onboard to give a presentation?

5. Since we've had a photo taken on each of the other Member Cruises what would you like to see done for a photo on this cruise? I think it would be neat to have everyone standing on the deck of the ship with a view from the top.

6. Anything else special you'd like to see?

From what I heard on a recent podcast that ABC may have lost/sold the rights to millionaire and thats why its leaving. Many people have suggested it could move to the superstar theatre.

Amy let us know if you find out anything else. We are going in Jan for the girls gymnastics meet and this sounds like fun. I'm sure my dd's would love it. They are still into princesses but I'm sure not for long. They are also in love with anyting from High School Musical. I am sooooo sick of all the songs. I now make them go into their room to listen to it. :rotfl2:

COSI=Center of Science and Industry.

It used to be a totally awesome place. Just jam packed with stuff in a cozy setting. Then, of course, they had to build this behemoth of a building and make it stark white inside with long boring hallways. Memberships plummeted. Admissions were WAAAAAYYYY down. So now they have this big building and no income. They ended up trying to get a levy passed to have taxes pay for it, but that failed. They ended up closing major sections of it (and MUCH to my kids' dismay, they closed the PLANETARIUM!!! KT even wrote them a letter and said "what is a science museum without a planetarium???)

Just recently they've been listening to the people (how unique of a concept) and they are putting in more things in the long boring hallways and they are bringing in BIG travelling exhibits (Titanic last year, Star Wars this year)

Oh goodness, I don't remember. It was back when it was a relatively new show, and I was shocked that I made it up to the hotseat. I do remember that I got lucky with a Phone a Stranger. I had a sports question, and they just happened to get a sports nut, so he knew the answer before I even gave him the options.

And, my mom said that they are supposed to impress on the guests that girls can be pirates and boys can be princes, they don't have to be in the "traditional" roles of boys as pirates, girls as princesses. When my mom first said this, Chris thought that she said that boys could be princesses and he about laughed his head off, but she clarified that boys could be PRINCES. Maybe you had to be there, but it was funny.
