Any chance you'd want to come to WDW on 9/16 for a few nights? We're dining at CA Grill on 9/18, 8:30pm advanced reservations, so we can see Wishes! from the 15th floor - another first for Will.

David :earsboy:
I'll come :) ( Joking..)

Walker turned 6 in February. Cameron will be 12 in October.

If you and your wife get bored without the kids, let us know. We'll rent Walker out for the afternoon or evening. :lmao:
Is this a new service on the ship? :teeth:

  • What is your name? Robin
  • Where do you live? Dallas, TX
  • Where were you born? Dallas, TX
  • My favorite food is? Blueberries
  • Last night for dinner I ate? chicken tacos & watermelon
  • I hope to someday improve my ____? Decluttering skills
  • Nobody knows that I _____? I almost had my thumb amputated when I was in kindergarten
  • If I were going to the moon, I would take ____? Of course my family because I wouldn't want to experience that without them. But I'd also take my camera so I could scrapbook every moment!
  • The worst advice my mother or father ever gave me was ____? Bread is fattening. A typical lunch my mom would pack for me was a hard boiled egg and an apple. Not that it was bad, but it sure was boring when all my friends had sandwiches, chips, and cookies.
  • The one thing I can't stand in people is _____? Self-centeredness, anyone that truly thinks the world revolves around them and no one else.
  • What was the #1 reason you booked this particular cruise? We were on the '03 cruise but had to miss the last one because of a family commitment. We didn't want to miss out on the fun again.
  • What excursions are you looking at for Castaway Cay? Haven't even thought about excursions yet. I guess I should read the material that arrived in the mail yesterday.
  • Are you hoping that DVC offers some exclusive merchandise for sale again? Of course! Anything to show pride in ownership.
  • If you could only visit one Disney park on a visit which would it be and why? Magic Kingdom because I think Ian would have the most fun there.
  • Are you planning any time before or after the cruise at WDW? If so when. We're arriving late on 10/14 and staying at BCV for the week before the cruise. We have our MNSSHP tickets for 10/16 and look forward to any and all meets before the cruise.
  • What do you think makes DIS DVC'ers different from other DVC'ers? Other DVC'ers may wave and say "hi" in passing, but we really get to know each other here. If you asked me who we sat with on the '03 cruise I couldn't tell you a thing about them except they had more points than us - none of them were on the DIS. But those of us that spend time here are getting to know more about each other every day so we're not strangers to each other. (Sorry for the long winded response. )

Sorry, I guess I'm going to catch up on the "games" too so this is kinda long.

I love the Dumbotron! I hope I can stay up late enough to watch the whole movie…maybe we’ll get to see the latest PoC? (I can dream can’t I?)

Welcome back Mary. Glad the little one traveled well.

David, we love Ca Grill! I’m sure Will is going to find it spectacular!

Here's a new set of GTKYKFC to get the day started:

• What was the #1 reason you booked this particular cruise?
DH is the one who is the lover of all things Disney. He wanted to go and I go where he chooses.
• What excursions are you looking at for Castaway Cay?
We like to bicycle. We’ve never hung out at the adult beach, so may try to hook up with others from here to enjoy those adult beverages and such. Will probably snorkel if the visibility permits. Two past tries, both not successful. I’m hoping that the third time will be the charm!
• Are you hoping that DVC offers some exclusive merchandise for sale again?
I’m sure we would indulge ourselves if something were offered as exclusive.
• If you could only visit one Disney park on a visit which would it be and why?
I would choose MK. I love to watch others enjoying this happy place. DH will choose EPCOT and that is where I will be then.
• Are you planning any time before or after the cruise at WDW? If so when.
We will be staying until Sunday at the Swan. Have tickets for our first MNSSHP on the 26th
• What do you think makes DIS DVC'ers different from other DVC'ers?
Since the DIS provides the mechanism to get to chat and exchange stories, we have achieved the welcoming of friendship as a family. We can get right to the hugs and handshakes and are much more relaxed and ready to take on our adventures.

• What is your name? Liy
• Where do you live? Suburb of Cleveland, Ohio.
• Where were you born? Cleveland, Ohio
• My favorite food is? Pizza
• Last night for dinner I ate? Rigatoni
• I hope to someday improve my ____? Ability to feel relaxed while conversing with people when I think I am being judged.
• Nobody knows that I _____? Am not relaxed when I am in conversation with them if I think I am being judged.
• The worst advice my mother or father ever gave me was ____? Can’t think of any bad advice just now.
• The one thing I can't stand in people is _____? Falseness and dishonesty.

Thanks for the offer.....Walker looks like a wonderful boy to rent for a day....but he would probably want to spend the day in the Oceaneer's club anyway :rotfl:

Hiya!

Yes I did ride the new bike trail. It's a loop that starts and ends at a turnoff about halfway down the airstrip on the side opposite the beaches.

They're constructing an observation tower that right now is nothing more than a bunch of vertical timbers, no idea if it'll be done/open by cruise time or not.

The trail is nice as it goes right thru the middle of the mangroves, and has a good number of spots to stop with water cans and such. There's a lot of new landscaping too that I think'll be much more scenic than it currently is after a full summer.

The questions of the day:

-What was the #1 reason you booked this particular cruise? It's a member event!

-What excursions are you looking at for Castaway Cay? I'm interested in the catmaran snorkel. No bananna here.

-Are you hoping that DVC offers some exclusive merchandise for sale again? I can hope, but I think David's kind of covered that one. Got to say I'm a teeny disappointed by that, I think it worked great the way they did it last time.

-If you could only visit one Disney park on a visit which would it be and why? That's a hard one. I'd like to see some of the rides at MK, and some at Epcot. If it was only one, Epcot, I prefer Illuminations.

-What do you think makes DIS DVC'ers different from other DVC'ers? What everyone else has already said; most of us are already friends besides having DVC in common, we do seem to have a better grip on the concept of DVC than most members.. all of that.

-Are you planning any time before or after the cruise at WDW? If so when.
Both before and after; and we're roadtrippin'!

While we'd love to go, we've used our points to sail in September for 7nts and our 4nts at WDW on either end. Besides, I'm 99.9% sure I couldn't get the time off from work - as it is, my team will be strained for the two weeks I'll be gone in September.

Will hasn't sailed on the DM before. He was on it 3/12/05 when we participated in a photo shoot for DVC (look at the DCL photo book at the Info Desk, DK4 MID); we're in the pictures of the Member events. :cool2: As an inaugural Crew Member, the DM has a special place in my heart that I want to share with him.

If there's a SSMC07, we'll give it consideration after hearing back from you on this year's experience. Having orchestrated last year's event, I would feel compelled to either pitch and work the event or make suggestions on how I might have done it - not the most ideal situation when you're on vacation.

David :earsboy:

Tempting offer - wish we could! Alas our next trip to the World is in October!

I'm sure this years crew knows they have big shoes to fill, but I'm confident they will do a great job. Let them now we are here if they ever need any feedback. You know this group isn't shy. :lmao:

Gee, Carol, do you have a story to share?
I'll provide another bike riding tip. The (old) path goes right along the other side of the adult beach. So, as your riding along, keep in mind of who might be at the adult beach listening to you yell at your kids as they are trying to knock you off of your bike. :p

My only tip is to not tell your sister when you do dumb things. Yes, I did try to take a picture of the plane at CC while riding a bike. Its been a long time since I had rode a bike and did not realize my balance isn't what it use to be. Needless to say I still carry part of CC asphalt with me in my knees. I skinned them good enough that when they were healing I had troubles going from sitting to standing and vice versa and the necessity of having to bend my knees. First thing I checked when I fell was whether anyone else was around. Thank goodness we were early getting off the ship and the area wasn't to busy.

Of course, I did hear of someone falling when they tripped walking up the gangplank to return to the ship on the last members cruise. :confused3 (Gotta love sisters)

Now Cindy, I can't believe you would be heard yelling at your two precious boys, so who was heard at the adult beach yelling at their children???

Carol

Cindy is talking about what I had heard. Mark and I were late going to the adult beach so we didn't get lounges right on the beach by the water. There were pockets of sand further back that had lounges and umbrellas which is where we settled in. I was sitting there reading my book when I heard "WALKER!" So I yelled back "Hi Cindy" but she didn't hear me. I told her about it after the fact.

Carol, Since you shared your Disney falling story--I'll share mine. This goes right up there with one of the most embarrassing moments in my lifetime. We were at the DVC Bon Voyage Party right when it started and it was pouring. A bunch of us went into Manniquins where they had some drinks set up for us and dancing. So I was holding Julia and Amy, Cindy, and several others from our group were on the revolving dance floor. OK, these are my new friends, I'll stop being shy and go out and join them.......remember, I'm holding my 25 lb 11 month old, just enough to make my weight unbalanced. Yup--one step on the floor and I fell so hard. My instinct was to make sure Julia didn't hit the ground and I was successful, but I managed to land on my knee pretty hard. I had a HUGE bruise my entire cruise. And I know LOTS and LOTS of people saw me. :sad2:

Ohh we'll rent him :Pinkbounc

Put my two on the list of kids for rent!! :lmao:

I just can't use Gary for a refererence because he can attest to Julia's table manners, which I have to say, haven't improved at all since the last cruise!

Diana - I almost fell on that floor when we first went in. I ended up doing a crazy dance to keep my balance but if I had been carrying a child I would have falled for sure. Glad to hear you and Julia weren't hurt bad.

Wow! Lots of chatting today! I have five pages to read when we get home from karate. I will answer Mary's questions before we go.

What was the #1 reason you booked this particular cruise? We became DVC members in 11/02 and did not know about the 1st member cruise. We sailed the Repo. back to Florida and could not take more time off work/school for the 2nd member cruise. So, when we heard about the 3rd member cruise it was a must (even though DD will be taken out of school).
What excursions are you looking at for Castaway Cay? Banana boat  and sting rays
Are you hoping that DVC offers some exclusive merchandise for sale again? Litho from Ducky Williams would be all I would want :artist:
If you could only visit one Disney park on a visit which would it be and why? MK because there are more rides and shoppingAre you planning any time before or after the cruise at WDW? If so when. Before and after for a couple of nights each direction.
What do you think makes DIS DVC'ers different from other DVC'ers? Sharing knowledge and friendships :grouphug:

If it makes you feel any better, I didn't see you fall. :)

That's because it was the back of me that you grabbed onto on your way down. :rotfl2:

If you guys want to join us, LMK and I'll change the reservation. Will's brother and his brother's BF will be joining us. They're arriving in FL while we're at sea and will be staying with us at DSSR when we get back on 9/16.

The more, the merrier! party:

Oh, Diana, trust me! Based on what he sees and hears with my older daycare children, Julia is definately under the category of better table manners.

I tell you, Gary will be honored to sit with any of your little princesses -- Diana & Amy both! princess:

Besides, I've already heard that we're bringing the parmesan cheese to dinner. :rotfl2:
