Good morning everyone! Very sad events in the world this morning. :sad2:
I had to turn on the TV when I read this earlier this morning. Our family room TV is always on Playhouse Disney first thing in the morning, and I usually turn on the Today Show a little later here in the office.

You're right, it's very sad!! But, at least they caught them. They are saying that they think that they have the mastermind behind the plot, but not sure if they have everyone in custody.

Good morning everyone!

I agree about baseball being like watching paint dry when its hot.

I don't even want to think about the terror alert. I'd rather not get myself worked up about something I can't control. As much as I say that, I'll be a nervous wreck. I'm not the best traveler to begin with so adding this is just going to make me more onguard. I just hope Cameron doesn't watch any news today as I'm sure it will be on his mind as well as mine.

We're heading down to Disney tomorrow night. :)
You'll be fine, Cindy!!! I'll say my prayers for your safe flight!!!

Where the heck are you walking? No gunk in mine (yep, I just checked)! :thumbsup2

I've been on the beach with them, as well as in the ocean with them (I can't stand the feel of the ocean floor).

Here's a story from South Carolina. We went beach combing to a private island. We do this at low tide and get there by boat with our friend Scott. Scott pulls the boat up as close to the shore as he can get and then we get off the boat and walk to the land. The kids are rearing to go the minute he stops the boat and have no problem getting off. They do, Gary gets off and then it's my turn. Remember, I don't like the feel of the ocean floor AND I don't go in the ocean as a rule, so I step off the ladder, onto the bottom of the ocean and it's muck! Muck!! :scared: :scared: My foot, with my croc on it to protect me from feeling the ocean floor starts to sink. :lmao: So, I'm not sinking into this gross muck that I can't stand the feel of. The more I tried to get my foot out, the deeper it went. I had no choice to to pull my foot out and then, my other foot started to sink. :lmao: So, now I had to take my feet out of the shoes and stand there. Scott went into the water to retrieve my sandles off the ocean floor. What a sport he was.

Even funnier, later as I'm walking along the beach, I took my shoes off and left them behind. Scott reminded me a couple of times not to forget they were there and even moved them closer to the boat for me. I guess the idea of me not walking back out to the boat without them on my feet was enough to scare him. :scared:

Next year, I think I'm getting a pair of croc boots to wear when we go beach combing!
:rotfl:OMG, this made me laugh!!!!:rotfl:

OH, how wonderful your message is! Please please please tellme how I can get all those wonderful smilies! They are so cool!!!!!:cool1:

Connie! Don't know if anyone got back to you on this yet. When you reply to a message, or create one here on the boards, take a look up near the top of the page where it says Reply to Thread. Below that you'll see Title. Below that is Message. You can select the font type, size and color. To the right are all the Smiles the DIS guys have put together for us to use. There's even a [More] you can select to see more selections. That is where the multi-smiles are.

Hope this helps. Have fun getting creative! :thumbsup2

Change in plans. Looks like we'll be checking our baggage as there are some liquids we're definately bringing.

I just read this on the TSA website. Anyone traveling, a heads up.

NO LIQUIDS OR GELS OF ANY KIND WILL BE PERMITTED IN CARRY-ON BAGGAGE. ITEMS MUST BE IN CHECKED BAGGAGE. This includes all beverages, shampoo, suntan lotion, creams, tooth paste, hair gel, and other items of similar consistency.

Here's the entire link if anyone is interested:
http://www.tsa.gov/press/happenings/threat-change.shtm
I just saw that on the local news. They had a bin full of different things like bottled water that everyone was trying to bring on the planes this morning, and they had to throw it all out.

Ok I don't know why that posted twice, must've "double bumped." Oh well

Again morning to all - don't fret the news today, make the MINOR adjustments that are being required and go on with our lives. Major inconvienences and LOTS OF ATTENTION is what these putzes what (and I chose that term intentionally.) Check the shampoo & toiletries and pay for the can of pop on the plane (if your carrier has already down away with that perk) and we will persevere as we always had.
Thanks for the good advice, Curt!! I'll be flying in a few weeks, and sure, it made me a tad nervous. But, you're right, we need to adjust and keep living our lives. I know that I'm flying on 9/6 & 9/10. I considered coming home on 9/11, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Plus, it's the 5 yr anniversary of that tragedy, and I just want to be in the safety of my home on 9/11.

Hi Chris - I know that a LOT of us are going after the cruise on the 26th. I'm pretty sure that someone is going early, but I can't remember who.

Robin, David & Ian are going pre-cruise to MNSSHP.

Our manager gave us the BIG OK to go!

I just got off the phone with DVC. Room 6070. :cool1:

WE ARE EXCITED!

Mark + Mary, I'll get you the info for your website roster. Now we've got to book the air. October will be here before you know it!

Exactly.

For us, we've never done all carry on (can you imagine with all the baggage we took on SSMC05, us trying to bring it all on as carry on :rotfl2: ) so it was more of a trial/convenience type thing. So, we'll just check it and roll with the flow. I know from friends who have traveled alone with kids, they are usually screened more carefully, I don't know if that will be us but we'll take it as it comes. I know Cameron & I didn't cause any flags when we traveled alone last year.

I am unclear about whether the kids can bring their portable DVD player.

Ok, I'm all caught up now!!

We have Parent's orientation night at Emily's preschool tonight. Basically, they talk about the school, and then we get to see the classroom and meet Emily's teacher and the other parents. We already know the teacher, because she's been in this school for 2 years now, but it will be nice to meet the other parents.

Then, tomorrow morning, she can go to her classroom any time between 8:30 - 10:30am to just look around and know where's she's going. She's all excited because she gets to go "upstairs" this year. There are only 3 classrooms upstairs, and she realizes that she's a big girl now.

From what I'm understanding, the no DVD Players/electronic devices is for the overseas flights, but maybe not. I don't think they are allowed to bring anything but their passport and papers. I saw women loading their whole purses into their checked luggage on the news. And they said they were having the mothers taste the milk/formula they had for the babies. :crazy2:

I was going to bring a 12pk of water in my checked luggage to have at BWV, but now I'm not because I don't want to freak anyone out. And now I need to remember to take my precious Purell off my keys. I leave two weeks from today and I'm already freaking out.

Don't freak on me. I'm flying tomorrow and will be able to tell you what the added security meant for us. Being your flying SW also, it should be similar.

I ordered water from gardengrocer.com and a few other things. It's a $10 delivery charge, but I'lm thinking it's going to be worth it.

Now.....I have another question/thought. Being liquids are being eliminated from carryon items, do you think WDW will tighten their security and not allow them brought into the parks? Normally we bring a couple of bottles of water each with us in the morning, as the load lightens up as the day goes on. I could handle not bringing the water, but how do you go to FL in summer and not bring sunscreen?

We're doing all carry on. :cool1: So, definately, things will be safe. Once I accidently had a pair of kids safety scissors in my carryon and I was escorted back out.

Our plan is to arrive in Orlando, pick up the rental car and head over to the Magic Kingdom for the extra magic hours. I suppose we'll have to check into the resort first in order to qualify to get into the park. We'll see if it works out, it really depends on Walker and whether he can stay up or not. (Okay, not really, the kids have no problem staying up late, it's Mom that's usually dragging by 9 p.m.).

Cindy - haven't read the whole thread yet but carry on is where we are really restricted now. No liquids of any kind, if it's not solid you cannot carry it on, including toothpaste, suntan lotion, deodorant that's gel etc... so pleae consider checking the bags - or buying those types of things when you get there :)

It will be fine! Just anticipate long lines at check in!

Cindy - glad to see you found the same info we did! We're flying in a week to Iowa to see Mom and Dad and this totally changes our plans as well!

Diana - thanks for the info on the electronics, I couldn't find it this am but heard on the news none so I was wondering what that meant - like no cell phone, no ipod etc. I can't imagine flying from the UK to the US with no carryon - not even a book???

The thing I saw on the news this morning said exactly that--no portable electronic devices of any kind--they mentioned laptops, cell phones, ipods and dvd players. I can't imagine sitting on a plane that long without those things. I'd ask for a boat and start rowing to the US. I hope those international flights have some good movies playing.

I don't think it said specifically for international flights, but for some reason I took it to mean that.

I just called Southwest and asked if the kids could bring their DVD player.

Yes, electronics are allowed -- at least as of today.

Great news Cindy!!! Thanks for checking... crazy as it sounds I need my ipod with my "wedding music" when I fly - it keeps me sane.
