I mentioned this on the blabbermouth thread yesterday and thought i would share it here as well. We've made our 2007 vacation plans and we aren't going to Disney :faint: We've booked a week long stay at the Hilton Hawaiian Village on Oahu. Going to Hawaii is something we've talked about for years but haven't done. I was there back in 1988 with my mom but Mark has never been. That's why we opted for Oahu. We want to do a lot of the typical tourist things for our first trip including the Arizona, Polynesian Cultural Center, etc.

Of course we'll keep our eyes open for anything special DVC might offer and if they don't offer anything we may still make a quick weekend trip to WDW. :)

That sounds wonderful, Mary! You and Mark are similar to Chris and I. I've been to Hawaii twice, once with my dad when I was 13 to Oahu, and once with my mom after I graduated college to Maui. But, Chris has never been. Someday, we're hoping to make it out that way.

Well you all know that Mark's boss paid for our May cruise, well my trip to Hawaii with my mom was much the same way. Her boss gave her the trip for HIS 60th birthday. He comes from OLD money. So for his 60th birthday he gifted 6 of his long-term employees with special gifts. For my mom (who used to be his secretary) and his current secretary it was a trip for 2 anywhere in the world for up to 2 weeks. My mom had always wanted to go to Hawaii so we did an 11 day trip split between Oahu and Kauai. For his driver it was a two week trip to a fly-in camp in Northern Canada. For one of the security guards at the bank it was a round trip ticket for the man and his wife back to Ireland (where they were born). We had a great trip and I'm looking forward to going back.

Just one question -- is he still in business and in need of any help? ;)

Seriously, what generous gifts to his employees.

Wow, some of you have VERY special bosses! GEEZ! I've always wanted to go to hawaii but it doesn't seem in the cards for us...just too expensive. It was supposed to be our 25th Ann. celebration but now that will be the member cruise. I'm happy but still hope to make it to Hawaii SOME day.

Wishing on a star,
Ilene

I think by now he is retired since his 60th birthday was back in 1988. :) He was always very very good to my mom. When she retired he took her on a 3 city tour (New York, Florida, and California) to say good-bye to all of his family (her last 10 years she worked as a trust officer at the bank mostly working with his family and thier money). He and his family also hosted a black tie retirement dinner for her at the Blackstone. Very very nice.

Very nice. We certainly don't hear a lot about bosses who appreciate their employees!

Congrats on booking Hawaii. I'm sure you'll have a great time!

We are still uncertain as to what we are doing next year. The boys want to go fishing -- I'm just not so sure that's a good plan with Walker only being 7 next summer. Cameron's Boy Scout Leader is on his way up there in a couple of weeks and suggested a different location to Gary -- someplace a bit more family oriented. I haven't looked at any information from there yet -- I'm just a bit leary of getting up into Canada and having Walker bored after 1 day of fishing and being stuck there for a week.

If it was a lodge, like I think of the Wilderness Lodge with a nice pool and all, I'm sure he wouldn't have a problem but from what I've seen, a lodge up there is no where near someplace like the WL.

I do know were hitting Hilton Head the end of March for spring break. Cameron's camping with the Boy Scouts the last week of June, Gary's camping with Walker the 1st/2nd weekend of June and 1st/2nd weekend of October as well as a campout in February. So, it's not like we won't be doing anything. In fact, it certainly wouldn't hurt us to take a week of vacation and stay home. We could vacation in Chicago for a change. :)

Mary, you and Mark will love Hawaii! Glad to hear that you're planning to go to the Polynesian Culteral Center. It's a must see on Oahu.

Mary, I forgot to post this the other day--I got Amy and Cheryl's CJs in the mail on Monday! :cool1:

Diana...thanks for letting me know the scrapbooks made it there safely. Every time I take them to the post office and the person at the desk enters your zip code, she asks "Is this going to Schenectady?" [sp]. I just say yes, and hope for the best!

It's a rainy, yucky, day here. :umbrella: I have today only to do laundry and repack to go with my older DD to WDW. I was hoping to be able to dry the things I don't put in the dryer outside, but no chance of that! I got an early start so hopefully by morning they will be sufficiently dry on the basement clothesline! :laundy:

Hi everyone!! It's a nice day here in central FL, but HOT, HOT, HOT! I need to run some errands today, like to Michael's and JoAnn's (are those really considered errands???). Anyway, I figure that while we're there, I'm going to pick up some kind of new craft project for the girls. They are starting to get on each other's nerves at times. Right now, they are playing house, very nicely. But, it could change in the blink of an eye. Luckily, Emily is going to "day camp" at her preschool next week, and I think that Madison will look forward to the break from her sister. The "camp" is only from 9-1pm, so it's just perfect.

Also, I'm hoping to do a little more scrapbooking this afternoon while they are resting.

Mary congrats on the Hawaiian vacation next year. One word of advice don't use the public bus transportation! Very slow!!!!!! DH has not let me live that one down and it has been 4-5 years now!

This morning I am doing a working interview at another Dental office. Funny thing is even though I told the last Dentist is wasn't going to work out I have still been working there and it has been a couple of weeks. He asked me to work next week as well. All I can say is I made a GREAT decision NOT to stay there as a permanent employee! I am hopeful today will be better! Happy Wednesday Everyone!

I was planning on sleeping in this morning, so I posted it last night before going to bed - sneaky, I know!!! The real question is - Did I sleep in??? NO, I was awake at 6:15!

Well, it looks like Chris is going to have some surgery on his back in the next couple of weeks. I haven't mentioned it before, but for several months now, he's had pain in his tailbone. He's been to several different doctors and even had an MRI. They can see a mass on his tailbone, that looks like he fell on it and broke it a while back. But, we can't remember any time that he did that. Anyway, he finally found a doctor that can fix it for him.

Luckily, it's an outpatient surgery and he'll be home that night. And, since it's such a small area, they only have to make a small incision and it's well below his spinal cord. Hopefully, this will finally offer him some relief. They will have to send the mass off to pathology, just to make sure that it isn't anything. But, the doctors have said that it doesn't look like it's serious.

They said that they may be able to do it as soon as next week, so we'll know soon when he's scheduled.
