Okay for a 9 1/2 year old? DD thinks it might be scary!

We just got back. It is definitely scarier than the first. The Kraken scenes are pretty intense. I thought there were some pretty funny parts still. ANd a good bit of references to the first movie (dogs with keys, rum, etc)

We let the kids watch Gremlins when they were young. They lasted about 15 minutes then were yelling "turn it off!!!" "turn it off!!!" ....so that's always been the thing around here, they won't watch Gremlins now that they are older b/c they have bad memories of it.....

Mike and I decided that this POTC was scarier than Gremlins and the kids should watch Gremlins before going to see POTC2. :) :lmao: :lmao: Yeah, like THAT will ever happen!!!!!

My son just got his class ranking for first year Law School. He is NUMERO UNO in his class!! YIPEE! This is really amazing considering the incredibly rough and rocky road he took to get there. Suffice it to say he is slightly LD but gifted and basically flunked out of HS but traveled his own road and got his HS diploma, went to a two yr college, transferred to a state college, changed his major from Aviation Science to Political Sci, applied to Law School, got accepted but then found out he was short one course for his undergraduate degree, the Law School accepted him, he had to complete the missing course the spring semester as it wasn't offered last fall. So he finally got his undergrad degree in May and also finished his first very successful year in Law School. More than you needed to know but we are so very happy for him. He is THE lesson for letting your kids lead the way with your guidance and support and they WILL succeed if it THEIR dream and not yours.
That's AWESOME, Ilene!!! :cheer2: for your son!!!

DS who is 11 didn't think it was scary but I guess it depends on the child. I do agree with Karen that this one was a bit more intense then the last. The first one was much more alof then this one.

Stacy - did you find that reservation number? If not you can ask Cindy for it. :lmao: I'm just waiting on your info and then i have everyone's. Unless of course anyone else wants to join in the banana boat!

Hey Mary - I was going to ask our friends, Tim & Michelle, to see if they want in on the Banana Boat. I'll email them and let you know.

So, what I think I'm reading is that for a 6 year old, it may not be a good idea?

:rotfl: I sent it to Stacy this morning. Just a little help from a friend.

Bummer of a night. :(

Cameron's team lost by quite a bit tonight. Now they fall into playing Monday night against the loser of tomorrow's game. Tonight was not a night for them to shine, that's for certain.

But, they are not out of the running yet! :goodvibes

Good morning everyone! Had fun in chat last night. I left a pretty full house at 9:30. Don't know how long the rest of you stayed.

Looks like it should be a nice day here in Chicagoland. Have a great day everyone!

Oh Cindy - that's too bad for Cameron's team. Hopefully they can pull it together and win that next game!!! Here's a little bit of :wizard: for the team!

I am sorry I missed chat last night - spent most of the night running around trying to find one final box of floor tiles to finish the basement floor - found out they were being discontinued so the hunt was on - finally found a box around 9:30 last night and today I will finish that room.

Happy Saturday everyone! It's a little dreary here in central Florida. Very overcast and rain on and off all day. Emily keeps nagging me to go in the pool, but it's just a yucky day for it.

Chris is off in Longboat Key doing some computer work for his aunt's beach condo owner. I guess it's a good day to do it.

I'm working on some scrapbook projects, most of them for other people. A couple of circle journals from my scrapbook retreat in Sept, Cindy's CJ for SSMC05, a shadowbox project for my nephew and some other little projects.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Hi Debbie - Nice to see you around! We'll look forward to seeing you around a little more when you're CFA is under remodeling.

Isn't the Opryland Hotel just HUGE??? I've been there for 2 different scrapbook events and I'm just amazed at it's sheer size. The Gaylord Palms here in Orlando pales in size compared to the Gaylord Opryland. The first time that I was there, I was 8 months pregnant and ended up accidentally taking a wrong turn and walked around the ENTIRE hotel. With all that walking, I'm surprised that I didn't go into early labor.:rotfl2:

This MAY be my longest ever post. :(

We went to Sears on Sunday to "look" at new refridgerators. Ours was 20 yrs old and we were getting nervous. So we happen to like one and it happens to be ON SALE. $1900 and change later we have a 3 door with freezer on the bottom and a 5 year extended warranty signed, sealed and scheduled to be delivered on Thurs. between 9 and 12:00

Fast forward to Thurs.

The Sears truck pulls up at 12:30 and the new fridge is on it. Old one hauled out and new one in and plugged in Lights on and motor humming. Sear delivery guys leave. Temp gauge reads 82 fridge and 72 freezer. Over the course of the next 4 hours the fridge went UP to 89 and the freezer STAYED at 72. Multiple calls to Sears (including the store manager) resulted in my BP going through the roof. They himmed and hawed and tried to tell me a repair person would be ther on MONDAY. This was NOT cutting it, we argued more. This went on for 2 hours. I was so darn mad by then it was incredible. Sears final solution was they would have a repair person there FIRST thing Friday morn to try and get it running so we could take stuff out of coolers. AND a new fridge would be delivered on Saturday morning. Oh and a whole $100.00 for our troubles. Temp after 8 hrs fridge 84, freezer steady 72.

Friday I stay home and wait ..............and wait.............and wait.............
At 12:15 I call the local appliance store and they tell me they have a very similar unit in stock, wrong color but acceptable. I drove into town find it to be ALMOST identical and buy it. The owner say it will be at my house by 4 pm. I get home and call Sears manager and tell him what had happened. He was surprised that I had done it I told him to send someone to pick up their fridge, his answer: nobody at that store who can do it or vehicle to do it with. This is a LARGE mall based Sears not some fly by night catalog shop. The service center 1 mile away is just a plce to order your parts OR drop off things for repair. Not told to us when we purchased. I was incensed. I thought we had local service people but NO they come from 40 miles away. But the best he was willing to do was credit our account and have the other one picked up on Saturday. I told them to pick up the EMPTY box the first delivery guys had left in our driveway too.
New one arrives from local appliance store friendly delivery guys. Courteous service and they have their OWN repairmen if something does go wrong. Best part we save over $300 because their extended warranty was so much less expensive.
By the time we got home last night it was nice and COLD inside. We were thrilled.

Till this morning.............

On my way to work today I was at a four way stop waited for what I thought was all the traffic to go and promptly plowed into the side of another car. I was just SICK. I feel terrible. I never even saw him till we hit. My beautiful Avalanche is damaged and his passenger door was caved in. He was extremely nice and I apologized profusely. No one was hurt and I know................Thats why they are called accidents.
But it still bothers me that I didnt even see him. My mind must have been 1000 miles away. So now I am truckless and feeling very bad about it.
I hope you all have a better stretch of days than me.

Squid

Oh Steve!! What a horrible situation!!! I'm so sorry that you're going through this. :wizard: Here's to hoping that things get better quickly and that no one was hurt!!!

Yippee!! I finished Cindy's CJ just now. I'll have it mailed out to Mary on Monday.

Steve - very sorry to hear about the past couple of days. Yuck! Here's hoping the new weeks gives you a fresh start!

Amy - yeah on the CJ. This is my last one right? I hold on to it until the cruise. Can't believe we'll be done already. Yeah!
