"A Sandwich A Day for Every Child" project funding! Isn't the cool! :cool1:

I love the picture of the crumbs in the corner :lmao: :lmao: Did they take that at my house. Actually, with my dog, those crumbs wouldn't have a chance and the Cheerioes would have been eaten mid-drop! :rotfl:

Ok, I know that this discussion has been done before, but I think that we're going to be in the market for a vacuum again soon. I know that several of you have Dysons. Have you guys had any problems with them? I've seen several people online that have discussed problems with them and that they are VERY expensive to repair.

You know I love love love my dyson. I've had mine for about a year and a half and the only problem I had with mine was when I dropped it down the stairs, the plastic thingy you wrap the cord around snapped off. I had also read they are very expensive to repair, so when we bought ours, at Best Buy, we paid the extra whatever for the 5 yr extended warranty. I brought them my vacuum and they fixed it, no cost, no questions asked (I did leave out the dropping it down the stairs part). That was part of the reason why we bought at Best Buy, they offered the warranty and I've heard they do a great job with repairs. I'll say it again, I love love love my dyson.

I've had mine for only a little over a year now - but I love it. I have 5 vacuums now and my Dyson is the only one I use. I haven't had any problems with it. It does a great job and now that they have redesigned the handle it makes it just that much nicer, and now I wish I had that one too!!!

Another Dyson owner with no problems! :thumbsup2

Gail, you need to ebay the other 4 extra vacuums you have and you might surprise yourself and have enough for the new model Dyson.

I shouldn't admit it, but Walker knows how to handle all the gadgets on the vacuum much, much better than I do. So, really, it's easy enough for a child to do --- it's just this adult that's kind of resistent to learning. After all, between all 3 in my house who know how to do it, it gives me an easy excuse not to. ;)

Hey guys - what model Dyson do you guys have??? Why did you pick that model over a different one?

Get rid of them??? :scared1: The 4 extra vacuums all still serve a good purpose, those are the ones I let the kids use! :smooth: They only get to use the Dyson when they vacuum the stairway. Ok, some women buy shoes......I buy vacuums. :teeth:

We have the basic, yellow, bottom of the line model. When I saw the prices of them, I figured that was all we really need. Our dog doesn't go on the furniture so we don't have to vacuum the fur off very often. I'm not sure what the differences but $400 was about all I was willing to spend on a vacuum.

I just have the regular yellow one. They have a purple one that's suppose to be good if you have pets. I'm sure they have names & models but I don't know what they are. For a while when you bought a dyson, you received a child size "play" Dyson. It was really cute. Not sure if they are still offering that or not.

Oh, I see. 1 vacuum for each of the kids. Sorry I scared you there -- please forgive me. I just thought you were a clutter mongrel like me and looking to aleve some of that for you.

Friends still? :lmao: :lmao:

Anyone major in Psysics? My kindergartener needs some help.

For Monday, Walker has to package and design a box to hold a raw egg which will be dropped from the top of the playground equipment and survive the fall. He has parameters that his box must measure. The egg must be raw. But that's the only information he was given.

I've tried to do a google search but without much luck of hints. One group of kids built a structure on the inside of their box out of toothpicks to absorb the impact. I'm thinking that's a bit above Walker's knowledge base.

Gary's thinking to lightly wrap it in bubble wrap. Giving it enough give to move about.

Walker has no idea how to get started.

Other than trial and error, does anyone have any other ideas?

We have a Rainbow...
I also had (Robin just took over) a Laptop that we call a Vacuum Cleaner...
Long story short... I bought a top of the line Orek for the stairs etc.
I was informed that WE HAVE THE BEST VACUUM CLEANER MADE! and that she would be happy to return it. I could better use the money on a new laptop as mine was dieing. I wound up taking it back myself (she did make a cameo appearance).
When her laptop died I was going to buy her another one; I said that I was going to buy a new one when Vista comes out...So she got my laptop...I mean my Vacuum.

Oh well, back to torturing peeps

:figment:

Cindy, I eould say pack it in styrofoam.

(get a piece of styrofoam the size of the container. cut it down the middle, and hollow out a section in the center to fit the egg snugly. if the pressure on the shell is spread evenly the egg can take a lot, so it is important that the egg is secure. I think this will work, but I would test it first...

Eggzactly! You DON'T want movement, you want the box and whatever you use for cushioning material to absorb the impact. Kind of like those special fitted cases for delicate equipment.

Kind of why I have just look in disbelief at work; during the day all the moms show up to pick up/dropoff drycleaning with the biggest suv's they can afford, ie,. Excursions, Tahoes, etc, it's an at least 6 figure, single income area where work is. But the kids are using the back as a playroom! Ok, they get in an accident, that big truck stops, but the kids arn't going to until they impact something inside, which might just be glass. Not cool at all.

Thank you both! We should have thought of that. Gary has these beer glasses packed tightly in styrofoam. They have been juggled around quite a few times but have never broken.

A mission for tomorrow --- go buy styrofoam and a dozen eggs!

That is after Walker's soccer game and Cameron's 2 hour baseball practice as well as Gary & Walker's trip to the nature center with Adventure Guides. Good thing we made plans with Mark & Mary for Sunday. Tomorrow's going to be a busy one!

Chat is less than an hour, anyone going to be there???

I have the purple "animal" model. I have a 13 year old Dalmatian and in the 13 years I've had her, I've been through about 8 vacuums. Burnt them out completely. You don't expect a short haired dog like a Dal to shed as much as she does, but I vacuum this house twice a day and fill the canister every 3rd day. Apparently, the sucking power between the yellow and the purple are the same. The purple one comes with a $100 attachment that had a "beater bar" in it that vacuums upholstery, stairs, hard to vacuum places. We use it in the car and it's amazing how much it sucks out. :crazy2:

It's funny because a few nights ago I get this phone call from someone from Rainbow vacuums. Apparently my neighbor just bought one and "they thought I'd love a home demonstration" :lmao: I told the guy, apparently my neighbor doesn't know me well enough that I'd just assume die before I used anything but my dyson. There was a long pause of dead silence and he said, have a good night. Guess he realized I was a hard sell.

If I'm still awake :lmao: I'm watching some country music show on NBC because I can't find the remote in the scrapbooking mess here. If it doesn't kill me by 9, I'll stop by. :lmao:
