20050618 - June 18, 2005 - Magic to Mexico

Yikes - I have been lurking other sites and it sounds like the weather is chilly - at least the first day or so...if you haven't left yet pack something warm :sunny: :sunny:

Sounds like you had a great time in Disneyland and CA, DB! :cool1:

Holly and TallMidgetGirl, are you the next to leave? Safe travels to you all and to anyone else starting on their vacation! :flower:

DH has all his clothes set out, now to get them into the suitcase ....

Weather for Saturday in Long Beach is usual June Gloom:
Saturday: Mostly cloudy. Patches of fog. High 68.
Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy. Patches of fog. Low 59.

But it will get warmer as we go south!! :sunny:
Weather forecast for PV on Monday (Tuesday isn't posted yet)

Monday Night
Clear. Low: 80° F / 27° C Wind West 8 mph / 14 km/h

4 More Days :jumping1:

Yep...we leave in the morning! Everything that is not done must get done today! :wizard: Where is my wand, anyway?
My oldest daughters are packing today. The rest of us are almost done. It will be a big change going on a cruise where the weather will be chilly on a few of the days...I have only cruised in very HOT HOT weather. Oh well, each trip is unique and we have to appreciate that right?
I am getting butterflies in my stomach! :p

I hope you have a great time in the parks Holly!

Is anyone planning on posting "Live from the Magic 6/18/05" trip reports? I don't think that I'll be posting because I can't see spending that much $$ for internet access. Perhaps if I have time in the ports, I'll post from an internet cafe.

I was planning on trying to do a post a day from the Live on the Magic 06/18/2005 Cruise.

Sorry I did not meanto make you sad about the only 2 cons. Like I said it was great and they pack the roster full of activities on the colder sea days so that you honestly do not care if its cold. I just wanted you to be prepared because we only were prepared thanks to someone from the previous week who told us to pack warm clothes THUS I handled it much better than I would had if I had not had a sweatshirt. It was fine. We never sat around gloomily believe me.

The 2nd thing I mentioned I only posted here because someone stated that they had not heard of anyone on the June 4th trip who had been ill. I was just letting you know that was not true. You really can't control those things so why worry about them. Would it keep me off the Magic????NO WAY. I have been on multiple times and this was the first time but also I must say the seas were very rough and it could have just been sea sickness. Who knows.

You are going to have a ball. Cabo looks like the name Mexican Riviera. We can't wait to go back there. Great food and margaritas as big as fish bowls. Water was refreshing, clean, and everything was accessible.

I am sorry if you took comments to be negative I guess people on some of these boards do not want to hear reality.I shouldn't have told you and then you could have had a miserable time cold and sick. I am so sick of posters living in this sugarcoated world where everything has to be perfect. Its not. I was only trying to make you better prepared as the group before us did for us. Excuse me.

Quite the contrary, Judy. Just like there's no perfect house, there's no perfect spouse...there's no perfect vacation. Thanks for giving us the heads-up about stuff you saw. Being a SoCal person, I already knew about the June Gloom cool-ness (we actually had enough drizzle last Saturday to wet the streets), but now I've got a mental mindset to try to prevent myself and family from catching a bug on the boat.

If we don't get it great - but if we do, then we'll be prepared to deal with it. Thanks again for your posts.

96 more hours....

DBinMV

LOL - you're counting down the hours now DB?

96 hours till we go a cruisin'....96 hours to go. You visit the boards & pack some clothes....95 hours till we go a cruisin..... :rotfl:

Judy,

I too was glad for your giving us the heads up on the cold weather and the virus so we could be prepared for it when we packed. I do believe better safe than sorry. I just want my fellow travelers to hear from you your enthusiasm which I had felt before you left. I always want to know the good and bad of everything too. Not sugar coated. I do want to hear all about your great times though. Cabo sounds wonderful. What were your thoughts of Mazatlan and PV. I am really glad you enjoyed the MAGIC trip! I look forward to it too.

I'm trying to convice DH that he should do his American Idol-like William Hung "She Bangs" impression for the karaoke show. If he can do it in front of 100 family members at a Christmas party, he can do it on the Magic in front of people he'll never see again. Just wait until you meet him, he's a riot!

:rotfl2: too funny! good luck getting DH on stage. Maybe a couple "drink o' the day" will help?

I still have the 95 hours song stuck in my head!

Today is a "computer" day: print the door signs, etc, all of my notes, excursions stuff, all the paper stuff!! I am soooo excited, but panicky too!!! Saturday can't come fast enough. No wait! I'm not ready yet!

I will tell you there was nothing I disliked. (except maybe my son's decision to stay in kids club every night til MN which is 3am Orlando time AUGH!!!!!!

Saturday- I loved the sailaway like always. This is probably my favorite thing all week. Right after that was dinner and bingo. Even if you have never played bingo its fun and they give away tons of $$. Jackpot at end of week was $5000++. Welcome aboard show was great. Lots of characters.

Sunday even though it is "June gloom" as you CA all it (hey where were you when I was booking my dates----I think July/Aug was full anyway. There was something scheduled every half hour. The things we did were trivia, bingo, art auction, course ate about 5 meals in there. and then they have afternoon Golden Mickeys which is great because my daughter loves to see it twice. They had great movies showing in the theatre that we had seen but did not mind seeing again. They also had a huge after party but no balloondrop like on the previous week. We thought they were going to because the balloons in the nets in the lobby were golden but I guess that was due to the golden anniversary.

Monday- This was our character breakfast day. There were characters everywhere. It was a big picture autograph day. Trivia again, bingo, behind the scenes, races, games, Pacifier movie in WDT. Castaway Club reception was this night, we also had ressies for Palos but unfortunately this was the day my daughter got sick at breakfast so we rescheduled for Fri. One thing we had so much fun doing wsa the Family Magic Quest. Don't know if anyone has done this before but you come in and are given a team number. Renee, or Ang will call out an item you need to ahow her to get points. (a MM watch, a DL, a room card, a piece of fruit, a candy wrapper, a belt, ....)Be prepared. We went with a bag of goodies cause you do not know what they will call. Don't be nice like we were and loan everything to your neighboring team. I felt generous to the little girl next to us and they ended up winning. Anyway its so fun. The show was bad this night but we did not care we were tired.

Tuesday-PV is gorgeous. If you can still do Las Caletas do it. It was awesome. Nice acreage with delicious lunch. My kids loved it. We ate in PV instead of the ship this night. I get a little sick of rich food and needed a nacho, queso type dinner. Most satisfying for my craving. We went to Carlos Obriens/Senor Frogs and I had the margarita in a yard glass. WHEW.

Wed- Mazatlan is OK. I think everyones least favorite port. You dock at the shrimp dock and ride a tram to main building. Port is UGLY! We did the taxe to EL Cid hotel. That was awesome and if I ever went back would do the same. I am not one that enjoys the vendors on the beach and found it annoying. I just want to relax. We went down to ocean for awhile but really loved the pool there. Ate a mexican lunch and erturned to ship. All aboard was at 4:30 which was earlier than our docs had said (8:30) but we did not care we had enough. Twice Charmed was great. Also be sure and enjoy the pools on T/W/TH because it will be the best time. PLUS its hot there. How can it be so cold and then so hot?

Thurs- our most fun day of all. We got off and started haggling for water taxis at pier which was quite intimidating because I was not sure they would come back and pick us up later but all their prices were round trip. We finally saw some fellow DCL people going with a vendor and we went with them. He took us in a glassbottom boat over reefs, around pelican rock, seal rock, and around Los Arcos. He then dropped us off at Lovers Beach ( which is inaccesible except by boat) for 1 1/2 hours, came back and picked us up and droped my family off at "The Office" beach and party place and the rest of them at the tender dock. We paid $45 for 6 including kids. The other family paid $125. I thought we got a good deal til I was at kids club and one of the counselors told me it was $5pp. I really did not care though because we had such a geat time. Where they dropped us off at this "Office" beach, it was a gorgeous beach with gentle waves perfect for kids, several restaurants right on the beach. We ate at Mango____ Best food the whole trip. Great salsa, Guac, tacos, nachos....We ordered marg.,when they came they brought 2 for 1 in fishbowls. We were doing good to get back on the water taxi with all 3 kids. It was a fun atmosphere. They were pulling people out of the audience and making them do things after they had a couple of tequila shots. Fun place to people watch. Can't wait to go back. Would love it to be Whale season. It was bizarre in that it was HOT in CAbo and when we departed port, we rounded the corner around the peninsula and it suddenly got COLD.

FRi- It was cold but we all had packing and again they had tons going on. We went and purchased a few last minute things, found our photos in shutters, saw a movie.....They put "Who Wants to be a Mouseketeer" in the afternoon , followed by the final bingo, and the kids "graduation", then on to dinner, show, bags out and BOO HOO HOO it was over.

Debarkation was a HUGE improvement from the last cruise we were on at Christmas. No waiting in line. It was smooth and Quick and I had been panicked about making our flight and as it ended up we waited in the airport 3 hours. (9:15-12:15)Almost could have made the earlier flight but several of my fellow DIS ers did get to.

Thanks for the trip report, Judy!! I have been so busy getting ready to go that I have only read this thread and a few select threads on the main forum. I want to go read the past cruiser info, but I really appreciate you posting here. Thanks again.

92 hours till we go a cruisin'....92 hours to go...

Hi Everyone

Only four days. I too am getting really excited.

Judy.. Thanks for your great report on the daily activities. It brought more excitement to our trip as as well as some great ideas. Thanks for the heads up on bringing items to the one show.

Hollyster 2....I'm sending a magic wand in hopes you can get everything done you need to. Please send it back as soon as your done, so I can complete the absolute mess I have made. :rotfl2:

DBinMV...Glad you are enjoying Disneyland  Like you, one of my favorite rides there is Soarin Over California. It is so exciting :Pinkbounc

Rae Ann......Can't wait to meet your DH. He sounds like a blast. I am sure everyone would enjoy his rendition of "Sh Bang" I agree with Ca Crusin a few of the "drink of the day" and it might be a go.

Will look for everyone in the terminal. I will be with the Dlander family (my DD, DSIL, DGD.) Think we will arrive around 10:00 or 11:00. I am going to wear the alien green shirt :cool1:

Looking forward to seeing everyone at Scoops :cheer2: :cheer2:

Okay I really need to stay out of Target! I have a general packing pile going :rotfl2: In fact it has taken over my closet :rotfl: Next time I go in I should make sure DH comes in after me if I don't emerge after 20 minutes or so.

They just blasted a Tsunami warning for all of the california coast and Mexico!
I leave in a few hours, and what am I walking into? :confused3 Prayers to all for a safe trip to and from! :grouphug:
Pixie Dust for Ca, Mexico and the Magic :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

I just heard that on the news as well. They said a 7.0 quake 80 miles off N Ca? How long does it take a tsunami to move 80 miles? Wait I guess that is only if it comes straight in but if it goes south it would be more miles. I will pray for you all

We can't wait to hear your "LIVE" reports. Have a blast and do some wild and crazy dancin' at sailaway for me. We will look for you guys on the cams if I can find the links.

lvrodmic - :wizard: Here is your wand back. Thanks! It was just what I needed to get things done!
I hope to see some, if not all of you! Most likely we will get back on this board when we get home and we will be like " Was that you in I saw walking on deck" or "I thought that might be you, but I wasn't sure" :teeth:
With all the new members on the board I am my mind is spinning in circles. I hope you all come back and we can share memories upon our return!! :cloud9:

Judy

thanks for the wonderful report the best one I have read. We are on the June 25, 2005 cruise I just popped in to see what was happening with the cruisers on the cruise right before us. I have you have a wonderful cruise I know I am. And talking about movies I wonder if they are going to show HERBIE THE CAR MOVIE it opens on June 22,2006 Some say they did not see the new movies when they open but they played the week after. That is the week we will be on the ship. We will be looking forward in your reports I remember that I posted from PV right there at the dock and I will try and do so again

Tsunami warning downgraded! I hope that is the last of it.
