20050618 - June 18, 2005 - Magic to Mexico

Now I know I can do that, so I'm gonna be a' smilin'! pirate: Harharrrr!

How's everything in Hawaii? Beautiful I imagine! Enjoy and be careful of the stairs...we don't want another "peg-leg" before boarding our Pirate ship!

Okay -- me and my motley crew will be in the (8:15 PM) PLA dining rotation if all goes well. If you're there, 'ya gotta know who we are! :rotfl:

We drink wine with dinner, so being lite drinkers of the usual nature, we are a happy crew by the end of the meals on the ship! :teeth:

Thanks for the heads-up Rae Ann! :wizard:

CACruisin': regarding your question on having to book for 2 hours - I think they bill you a minimum of 2 hours, even if your young'un is there for 30 minutes. So, expect that the 1.5 hours you booked will actually cost you 2 hours worth of time.

6 weeks!

:cool1: I just got off the phone with DCL and requested the smallest table and the rotation of PLA. It did take a couple of calls. The first person that I got said that there was no way I could even request a preference. I was rudely :sad2: told that the information would be provided when we boarded. So I called back and got someone much nicer :goodvibes who said that it would be no problem to request the rotation we want. Making the request for table size made asking for the rotation much easer according to the CM who helped. Now I guess I just need to cross my fingers and say some prayers. pirate:

Happy Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there! My family is whisking me away to Monterey for the weekend. Just think, we will be celebrating Father's Day on the Magic! :flower:

Happy Mothers Day Weekend! Hope everyone is having a wonderful time. Spring has finally "sprung" here so tomorrow will be "poolside." Maybe I'll even have DH make an "umbrella" drink so I can pretend it is cruise time :rotfl2:

V-Bug: Glad the weather has improved. I hope you can take a break from your studies and enjoy Mother's Day!:teacher: :flower:

DB: I actually would like to leave DD1 in Flounder's for more than 1.5 hours, but that is all it would let me book (10 hr max). I was just excited that I could prebook 4 time slots. DD1 and I are with each other pretty much 24/7 so I am REALLY hoping that she likes Flounder's and that I can have some grownup time on the cruise. pirate:

Holly: Enjoy Monterey :sunny:

Red: Thanks for the info about the staggered dining times. Hopefully we will be PLA at 6:15 then :wizard:

Hi Tink! :wave2: Glad you found a nice CM.

Fathers Day on the Magic! Woo Hoo!!! :cheer2:

Happy Monday,Everyone! :cool1:

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day. Now it is back to business as usual...

C-Ethyl: Good Luck on your last final tomorrow! :teacher: :wizard:

Happy Monday !
Monterey was beautiful! Rained a bit on Sunday, but Saturday was great!

Now, I want to know........if we get a pirate night, will we get fireworks too? pirate:

Happy belated Mother's day!

DD & I just got back from Hawaii last night and we're pooped out!

I was able to cancel my REAS and put in a request for PLAPLAP. Now I just have to cross my fingers and hope that we get that rotation for late dining.

I can't believe DL's 50th celebration has already started. I can't wait to go to DL !

DB - did they have anything about the 50th on the news? I asked DH & he said he didn't notice anything - but then again he was fixated on the basketball playoffs & he isn't addicted to Disney like me.

We have late dinner seating, and several reservations linked together. I am afraid to request any special rotation, because we are all trying to eat together. My first Disney cruise I had to have a certain one, but this time I think I will just have to be satisfied if we are all actually together.

Rae Ann,

Yes, there was a fair amount of coverage of the 50th on the news - even on the radio. If you get a chance, go back to the PodCast link

http://disneyland.disney.go.com/dis...ail?name=PodcastingSpecialEventDetailPageGold

and have a listen. You don't have to sign up for the Podcast itself, they have links to the MP3 files - you can just click and listen. There are 3 different days, but the Podcast speaker does a pretty good job of capturing everything - I wish I could have been there. :earboy2:

The new fireworks show sounds incredible, plus he's got interviews with guests, cast members, celebrities, etc. The "First 50 Years" presentation in the theater on Main Street (where Abe Lincoln used to be) sounds pretty interesting too. I'm going again in early June, so hopefully I can get a post in here for folks that are visiting from out of town.

I don't know about our dining rotation. The group I'm with prefers to leave it to fate. But we are early dining, which should be pretty good with young kids.

On the web site, I have my kids registered, but do I need actually reserve a spot for my oldest (4) in the Oceaneer Club? While the DCL web site allows me to reserver Flounder's Reef, I didn't see a link to register for the Club.

My co-worker's cruise to bring the ship to California leaves THIS SATURDAY. I told him to take good care of it for us.

Your friend must be so excited!!!! I can't wait to see what you find out about his cruise. :goodvibes I read on another thread that there is alot of painting and sprucing up going on right now on the Magic.

Hey! :sunny:

It's sunshiny here and warm and spring-like! Skies are blue and my final is over! :teeth: Yeeehaa! I am frrrrreeeee for the summer!!! :rotfl:

Sorry - just kickin' up a little bit now that THAT stressor is done! Now I can start having fun and planning the 30-day details....aren't we nearing that mark-time soon?

Tomorrow is May 11th and we fly out of here on June 11th so I feel like I am soooo close!

Tonight me and my sweetie-DD are going to our local dollar store to see what's there and what could be useful (or fun) for our trip. Ya never know what you'll find!

About the Pirate night - is anyone out there (hoping for) PLAPLAP-late shift dining planning to "dress the part"? I am not such a bold pirate as to be the only wench of the evening! DS would do the embowling of me (for me?) if he was dressed up and no one else was! pirate: We'd both be mortified!

CONGRATS V-bug on finishing your last final!! :cheer2:  :cheer2:
Enjoy your freedom, your sunshine and shopping with DD! Have fun! :sunny:

The cruise is starting to feel REAL now that we are closing in on 30 days and all the ressies are made. Last week I picked up a few things for the kids. We are flying to my parents for the weekend for my dad's retirement. After that the real shopping/packing will begin!

DB: How wonderful for your friend! I would love to do the PC cruise, but didn't work for the kids school schedule. What fun though!
Unlike Flounder's, for the Club and the Lab you do not have to reserve times. You are free to check them in and out, as you please. :cool1:

Welcome home Rae Ann! :wave2:

Yes, my friend is excited. I talked to his wife (Hi, KH!) and they are doing some interesting things (all you folks who have gone on cruises before probably know this already):

They're going to send my sons a postcard from "Mickey" at Castaway Cay. :earsboy:

She mentioned that if you bring some picture/cardstock, etc., you can hang it up with magnets (like refrigerator magnets) to decorate your door. This can help your kids find "their door".

A lot of you probably knew about this, but Disney has a lot of cool not-too-expensive merchandise that you can order to have waiting in your room for kids, spouses, etc. I'll probably get my kids some water bottles...still undecided on what, if anything, I should get for DW. She's not big on chocolates, flowers, or champagne. (Yes, Valentine's Day is sometimes a challenge)

He's already told me he won't be in contact once he leaves :rotfl2: , but I should have a lot of good info when he gets back.

DBinMV

I hadn't even thought about being "out of contact" for two whole weeks - Wow, that makes the trip even better! :cool1:

The magnet/picture thing is a good idea. I can just see my DD's sadly wandering the halls because they have forgotten the room #.

DH thinks we should let DD11 and DD9.75 have sign out privledges with the caveat that they must stay together. I am a bit nervous (over-protective!) about this. For those that have cruised DCL before, what are your thoughts and sage wisdom about this? :confused3

Where do you find the DCL merchandise on the new website? I remember seeing flowers, state room celebrations, etc. on the old website, but can't find it on the new one. :badpc:
I have made big hints for my DH that wouldn't be NICE if I had flowers in our room for all of the wonderful planning? :lovestruc

For your DW -- surprise Spa appointment maybe? Or just a promise of a "kid free" afternoon by the Quiet Cove Pool. :goodvibes

Looking forward to hearing about what your friend has to report when they get back!

I am letting my DS 10, sign in and out of the clubs. He wasn't allowed to until the last few days our last cruise, and he handled it very very well. He would come find us and inform us of his every move. If he left the stateroom before us he called us from all over the ship and left us voice messages all the time. He is instructed to NEVER sign himself out of the club when we are not on the ship while in Ports. He follows the rules very very closely and is really looking forward to this trip. :goodvibes

:wave2: I am making a sign on magnetic paper for our door. Maybe I'll do something using our pirate names. pirate:

I purchased the state room celebration. :cheer2: I did not find a way to order online, but did find a printable order form that you can mail, phone or fax in. I phoned and made payment. It was not added to our account like the excursions were. :boat: :boat:

My husband, his cousin, my Mother in law, my son and my 15 yr old daughter are all wearing Pirate T-shirts we got in Monterey this past weekend. We have late seating, but don't know what rotation we will end up with since we are linked to several groups. Once I get the official word from the May 28th cruisers, I am going to go out and buy more stuff so we can have fun with this! pirate:
