20050618 - June 18, 2005 - Magic to Mexico

Such a fine day yesterday - we walked to the store. Little "miss" found glow-necklaces and bracelets with connectors, a "pink purse", a necklace that she plans to use as a pirate medallion, and some little surprise for her brother. She's quite the shopper. :flower:

Alas! :guilty: No garden trowels (which is why we went originally - she "borrowed" mine last year and of course it is MIA!) but she did get a pair of kid-sized garden gloves!

Our 2002 trip DS was old enough to sign in and out, and he mostly stayed in the club. We had set ground rules, but there was one time, where we didn't know where he was and that did cause a mommentary panic. We found him in the arcade, so it wasn't out of the "rules" we set, it was just the "not being able to locate" him. :confused3 soooo......

I picked up a bright neon-lime green journal-book (yes, at the dollar store yesterday :) ) that we will be using as our "stateroom log book". That's an idea I saw on these boards (thanks Dis-boarders!!). Everyone in our group (including Grandma and Auntie) will be required to register their locations in the book. I picked the lime green because it should be bright and easily located (if misplaced, as things are bound to at some time) plus then we can have a record of the fun things we did!

:rotfl:

Thanks for the suggestions/insight on kids signing in/out. I am trying to get comfortable with the idea. (Let go mom! They are growing up!) :tilt:

I like the idea of using a journal so it ends up being a keepsake too! I also like the idea of having everyone use it, not just the kids. DD1 will need a nap in the afternoons so either DH or I will have "verandah" time everyday while she sleeps inside. The journal is a good way to keep track of where everyone is.

pirate: Pirate night: Planning on doing some "accessories" type things: necklaces, beads, maybe tattoos, etc. if I can find them. Oriental Trading company has some but I don't really want 6 dozen! I read somewhere about girls wearing "sarong" type skirts with a t-shirt. I thought I might look for something like that too.

Sounds like a wonderful day V-Bug! :sunny:

sorry for the double message. I corrected some gramatical errors that I noticed and errrrrr the thing was so slow!! pirate: pirate:

Consider this here post properly disemboweled! pirate: Arrrrr!

Another advantage of the Stateroom "register", is that the kids then know where Mom and Dad or Aunties or Grands might be - just in case they want to "hook up" with any "elders" in the travel group.

It's especially important if they like to "touch bases" with any of us, especially should they have some down-time with club activities or become bored (not likely, but...)

"Hummm, Mom and Dad at Palo for brunch? Okay, I can catch grandma at the bingo game! Or Auntie at the pool!" Then she/he can sweep by for a quick hug and reassurance if needed. :earsgirl:

I am having trouble finding magnetic paper. :confused3
:wave2: I could not find it at the office supply stores. I have heard that some people have found it at walmart. I had to order what I got online. I ordered two packs and have extra and would be happy to send you some if you or anyone else is interested. :flower:

On the door frame (Jamb?) of the staterooms, I seem to recall a metal (brass maybe?) fish decoration, which if one end (head or tail I can't remember) was pushed, opened the opposite end -- like a clothes-pin.

We put a picture that DD drew there in the lab (hung it in the pinch-grip) and DS had no trouble finding the room.

I did get lost :rotfl:  , (blonde moment?) however, at the end of the cruise when we had packed everything (including the picture) because it wasn't hanging there anymore!

Greetings cruisers!

So who's going to be the first one to get their cruise documents? I saw in the June 11th thread that they've started to get their documents so maybe next week we'll be dancing....

Pirate Night: DD has a cute pirate outfit (a red & white striped top & belt, jeans with pirate patches). DS wants to get his face painted like a pirate. We can't find DS's pirate accessories anymore so we're get to do more "cruise shopping". DH & I will probably wear pirate accessories.

Checking out of clubs: DS (almost 9) will have check out priviledges but he knows that he is only to check out if his cousins (12, 12, 11) come to get him. Our stateroom is also really close to the kids club.

I'm planning to print out 11 x 17 daily sheets for our stateroom. It's just a grid with our names on the top and time on the side (in 1/2 hr increments) so we can write down our dining times, excursions, appointments, and any activities that we want to do. If the older kids check themselves out of the club, they'll know where we are and if they go anywhere, they have to write down where they'll be. I was planning on bringing a few refrigerator magnets so I can put it on the inside of our door.

Door decorations: I'm planning on making door signs for our 3 cabins. I haven't decided if I'm going to get magnetic paper or if I'm going to just buy the magnetic tape to put on the back of my door signs. Here's a link for magnetic tape

I decided to make door decorations out of Magnetic foam frames/white boards. They are actually wipe off little windows that we are decorating with Disney stickers. Kids will have fun making them. :teeth: I got them at the Party store.

Anyone have a guess to when Tea With Wendy will be on this cruise? I hope the cruisers before us post a navigator!

G'day me maties! pirate:

The June 11th gang is starting to get their docs, so we'll not be too far behind! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

It's supposed to be a :umbrella: rainy weekend, but that actually is "OK" by me, as I need a "yechy" day to get the luggage out and start to go thru our packing lists! :rotfl:

ANY new Cruisers out there for this cruise? Speak up! We promise not to bite or disembowel! pirate: (right, Bloody Davy?!)

Have a great weekend, gang! Here's to you! :drinking1 :boat: :mickeybar

I have been trying to make my Palo Brunch reservations online. Trouble is, I am making them for several families and trying to get us all together has been a bear. Do you think my luck will be better onboard?

pirate: Aye...Any lubbers out there recently boardin' this board best be checkin' in. If'n we find any lurkers on the cruise, some plank walkin' there'll be. Sign in with the Cap'n and we'll share a few swigs. :drink1 pirate:

It's actually been warm here lately. DW wanted to turn on the A/C yesterday afternoon. Hope it isn't too hot when we're a few more degrees south.

Co-worker is offiicially in Orlando. I'm tempted to call his cell with a work related "emergency" just to make sure his heart is still pumping - but he'd probably find a way to get me back in 5 weeks.

Speaking of calling, I just realized you can call the ship while it's at sea, so long as you know the stateroom number and are willing to spend 6.95/minute (ouch!). 1-888-DC-AT-SEA. My parents were asking about how to get ahold of me in an extreme emergency.

Here's to another week closer! If anyone is going on the Tequila tour in PV, I have a deal for you....

:wave2: Hello everyone. I think that I may be just as excited as those leaving tomorrow. Here's hoping that someone will post during their trip.

Here in CA we are in for some fine weather. We have plans to do the California Strawberry Festival. I'm just hoping it's not to hot.(but that's what the beer booths are for right :drinking1 )

DH and I are doing the Tequila tour in PV. Do tell, what is the deal? :scratchin :listen: ;)

...or not. The mail bounced. Fine, I'll make the offer here on the boards.

If you're going to the Hacienda Dona Engracia tequila factory, I'll gladly buy you a bottle of tequila that's equal in value to their Almond tequila, if you can buy me a bottle of the Almond tequila. Someone went on a cruise 6 months ago and gave my dad a bottle - it's really good stuff - and I'd like to get him some more.

Unfortunately, I'm already booked on Canopy adventure, and none of the rest of my party has any interest in Tequila.... :confused3

If you're interested, email me (click on my username to the left) and we'll set it up. If the tour isn't at Hacienda Dona Engracia - never mind. (Why don't they publish this stuff?)

Thanks,

Good morning everyone!

I can't believe the Magic is going to head out to California today! If you haven't checked out the main board, Hygiene99 has been posting live pics of the Magic from his cell phone. They have a new Castaway Club gift - a red blanket. I can't wait until they get to Mazatlan and Cabo so we can find out more information about 2 of our ports.

We're planning to go back to Disneyland tomorrow to check out all the new things for the 50th Anniversary and to pick up passes for our June guests. I've been making our plans for the rest of the summer and we're busy busy busy.

I can tell Disneyland is going to be really crowded during the summer. We had originally reserved 2 rooms at the Disneyland Hotel but when I tried to change the dates, they're all booked up!! Then I tried to get 2 rooms at the Candy Cane Inn for their Disneyland/DCA trip but they only had 1 room available so I was able to get a 2 bedroom suite at the Residence Inn Anaheim instead. It's a little further from Disneyland but they do have a free shuttle. I've never reserved rooms at Disneyland before because we're only 25 minutes away (on a good traffic day) but DM wants to stay in the area.

Whew..it's been usually hot here for a May. :sunny: :sunny:

DB - The almond tequila sounds muy delicioso!

I found a cute "martini pirate" shirt on the 'net and was thinking about getting it for pirate night. Maybe I can stencil in the words "I am not a lush" on the back! LOL

Hope everyone's having a wonderful weekend.

Hi all,

Regarding the tequila, I found a Reserva del Senor Almendrado at Beverages and More (http://www.bemvo.com). It's almost as good as the one my dad has, which is to say, quite! A very good sipping/dessert tequila - would probably be great poured over vanilla ice cream. (Sorry, I'm having a Homer Simpson moment here - "MMMMMMM. IIccce Creeeam")

So, Tink, it doesn't look like I'll be needing your tequila-buying services after all....thanks for taking the time helping me research it.

Hard to believe the Magic's on its way. No Rogue Waves!!

Have a good weekend everyone....
