20050618 - June 18, 2005 - Magic to Mexico

Great link, Red! There is really a lot of information there. I have only had a chance to glance at it so far, but I am looking forward to spending some time reading all of it -- If Disney won't give me any info, then I'll read whatever I can find  Have a safe trip!

DH is also "Dirty something" can't remember what and he won't do the questionaire again :rotfl2: Maybe after a glass of wine, I can talk him into it :rotfl2:

C Ethyl: good luck on those finals! I am sure you will do great :teacher:

Happy Friday all! We are supposed to have a :sunny: weekend, so everyone is happy here!

Hollyster2...I replied to your thread on the CC board. (but if you're like me, you check this one more often!) So thought I'd let you know. Put a link on there for you.

Debbie

Thank you very much for the link Debbie! You are right, I check this board several times a day and the other one only once or every other day.

Found some more items for my "HARD TO SHOP FOR" DD. (aka the tall one). I feel much better now with a few more things off my shopping list. :teeth:

Dragging my 10 yr old son out to find dress pants today. He will go willingly if we can have lunch at Red Robin. Sounds like a plan to me. The key is to get as much shopping done before lunch because once he has the coveted lunch, then he will suddenly lose all incentive.

Happy Monday :cool1:

gentle bump up from the bottom of the page.

Good Morning! :sunny: Yay! No rain here today! I hope you all had a great weekend!
I managed to find a few things for my son. Dress pants seem to be a challenge though. I really would like to find something else for him to wear formal night. Some really nice black pants that he could wear again. He won't wear dress pants again until he is in another size at least. I will have to work on that one.
I am working on surprises for the little kids at the Disney Hotel. My friend and I bought our little girls matching Tinkerbell nightgowns! They are so cute! We got them at Kohl's. I still want to call the hotel and see what they could have waiting in the room upon our arrival. I will have to be a bit more creative with the older kids. :wizard:
On some of the other threads that are cruising before us, they are sure getting excited! I can't wait to read our board as we all post receiving our Docs! Looks like Disney is going to make us wait until the actual first cruise to Mexico to divulge the theme night. Still hoping for Pirate Night here. pirate:
I read also that Randi is stocking up on all sizes of T-shirts for purchase after her ride. She has had a lot of requests for more child sizes, and is working on that in time for the Disney Cruise. I understand that they are $5.00 each, and I know my daughters will want them for sure.
Well, I have to get Bree up and ready for school. She went Camping with her Father/Daughter troop through the YMCA and had so much fun she is completely exhausted! She is always amazed at how well all the Dad's manage with the cooking without any Mom's. :rotfl2: Have a good day, All!

I just spoke with Debbie this morning - apparently REAS reservations are not yet available for our cruise, but that we should "keep an eye on the web site" (her words)

She sounded a little concerned when I broke out with "This be Bloody Davy Vane, wench...ye best be updatin' that thar web site lest we find your way to Davy Jones' locker! ARRRRGGGHH" pirate:

So, I think I pretty much killed Pirate Night. :rotfl:

Seriously, this is getting a bit, um, frustrating. I need my cruise planning fix!

DBinMV

You mean Debbie doesn't even have clue to as what our theme night might be? Can they all be so good at keeping a secret? :earboy2:

Yep. Annonying, huh?

My co-worker leaves _next week_ for the repositioning cruise. Even HE doesn't know what the theme nights are.

DBinMV

Hollyster: Glad you had some luck shopping for the kids.
I hadn't heard about Randi stocking up on kids t-shirts -- that is great news. We have not told the kids we are riding yet, probably won't until we are on the ship, but I am sure they will want t-shirts. Riding horses on the beach is their definition of heaven. :love1:

DH did the Y program with DD's. He was "chief" of their tribe one year too. It was wonderful! We all enjoyed it. Before DD1 was born, DH and DD's would camp for the weekend and I got the house all to myself once a month!

Sadly, it does look like we will have to wait until the first cruise before we find out anything more about our cruise. I am holding out a small hope that Disney will announce something on May 5th or maybe on May 14th, but those hopes are starting to fade. :hourglass

Very frustrating on the REAS -- the main point is to be able to book ahead and remove that "stress" from your cruise. Maybe at the 30 day mark it will be available? :rolleyes1

V-Bug: sending positive thoughts your way today for your Final. :teacher: :goodvibes

DH, DD9, and DD11 + friend went to Seaworld on Saturday.

DH checked out Dining with Shamu and chose not to do it. Items from the buffet include Beef Bourguignon, Seafood Creole, Chicken Dijon, Creamy Garlic Tortellini, Pecan Rice Pilaf, Veggie Medley, Caesar Salad, Oriental Salad, and Dessert Selections. DH's opinion is unless you absolutely have to eat with Shamu or eat boatloads of food, it is very expensive. A cheaper (free) choice is to watch Shamu swimming at Shamu Close Up or from the Shamu Skywalks (covered bridges over the backstage Shamu pool) and eat elsewhere in the park. Shipwreck Reef Cafe is right behind Shamu stadium and the food is quite good, but the service is very slow (cafeteria style). Now that I think about it, the food is really pretty good at most places in the park, and the service is really pretty slow too. :)

Unfortunately, he did not have an opportunity to take pictures of the dining area -- sorry. :guilty:

As they were all entering the Stadium for the Shamu show, DD11 got pulled aside -- she was picked to be the trainers "helper for the show! :jumping1:
During the show she pet Shamu, gave him behavior signals, and fed him ice. Then she sent Shamu over to give DH a "kiss" :love2: If I can figure out how to post a picture I will! For those of you that have seen the Shamu show, you know DH now has a "splash victim" towel and had to go back to the car and get a dry change of clothes! :rotfl2:

This was an absolutely magical day for her! :cloud9: DH grew up in SD and has never known anyone picked to be the trainer's helper. He did know he would get wet, but I don't think he realized how wet! :rotfl2:

Hollyster: We are putting together baskets/buckets for the kids (since there is no Perfect Gift in LA).
Maybe some of these ideas would work for you at the Disney Hotel.
Some things we are considering:
neon necklaces for night parties
walkie talkies
water bottle "holders"
sunscreen/lip balm
Sunglasses
Mad Libs
disposable cameras
movie treats/ other snacks
bubbles
sparkling cider (packing the real stuff for mom & dad! )
Tropical Mickey & Minnie (found them at the Disney Store last week) :sunny:

Good Morning me Maties!

pirate: Arrrr! Ah did walk the plank yesterday, but fought me best!

Seriously, it was tough, so thanks for the kind encouragement! :goodvibes One more to go - (Next Tuesday morning) and then I can really relax and enjoy the planning!

:guilty: About the REAS!
Hey Bloody Davy: does that mean that Debbie won't even take our ressies in advance??? It all has to be on-line? Do we get preference b/c of REAS or no? pirate: ARGH!!! Where's me blade?? grrrrumble! I be "testy" today! Arrrrr! pirate:

Dirty Jenny 1: Thanks for the info on the T-shirts! :teeth: Sounds like a fun keepsake.

Cap't Anne: Thanks, Ma'am! DD had dance class last night and between that and homework it pretty much kept her busy. How's that foot? Are you elevating it sometimes?

Dirty Jenny 2: Did you find that new pirate name yet? Arrrr.... pirate:

How many days left????? :sunny:
********
:cold: 37-degrees this morning! Yack! Typical day :umbrella: here, but uncommonly chilly for this time of year! ~sigh~

It sounds like REAS will allow you to make your Palo and Spa reservations early, just not YET. <grrr> And, you'll be making them via the web site, not through Debbie. (Which, if I have to pick up Debbie's phone every day, is actually a really good idea)

My TA said in early March that the site was supposed to be available by mid-April. :hourglass <insert Jeopardy theme music here>

To DCL webmaster: Avast ye' bilge rats! We're coming aboard! The Capn' and crew are none too pleased - you'll be tastin' the cold steel! pirate: pirate: (I still suck at this, but you get the idea)

DBinMV

Good Afternoon! Is everyone else having a slow week? :rolleyes1

V-Bug: No new name for me yet. Great job on making it through one final!

DBinMV: I think you underestimate your pirate talk skills pirate:

Hollyster: Thanks for having a countdown. Although I have to remember to adjust since you are heading to Disneyland first. About those dress pants for your DS, have you tried a kids resale or Ross/TJMAxx?

Well gotta run, I'm on carpool duty this week! :moped:

Hello from the OP :wave2:

I'm glad to see the thread stayed alive. I haven't been keeping up with all your posts, but it sure looks like everyone's getting excited. I know we are.

Here's a little story about how I remembered to check the thread and post this morning: Yesterday I got a pack of potato chips with my lunch. When I opened them, I looked down and saw that they expire on June 18. I gave a little cheer at my desk and the people in the next office thought I was whacko.

Isn't it funny how the simplest things trigger vacation thoughts? Here's hopin' the next 43 days whiz by. (We depart Baltimore on June 16.)

Kelley

I love the Potato Chip story! :goodvibes

Going to Ross, today Jenn!
