I'm with you. I'm going to wait and see the movie on the ship as well. It's was a great day in So. Cal. today - but rain is due tonight and tomorrow.

Ken

Well I'm done in SoCal for now. Had a great night at Disneyland yesterday and a great day today. The holiday fireworks were fun and of course It's a Small World looks fabulous in holiday colors. Took the ride today and loved it as well. I had done that before at the holidays but didn't remember a lot of it.

Did Haunted Mansion again and also did Soarin and ToT. I think those were all the rides I did. I sat for a LONG time in the hub just listening to the Christmas music and people watching. Had to gouge my eyes out with hot pokers a few times... :) Didn't seem too crowded today. I think I went back and forth twice between the parks. Wandered over to DD and the GC for a bit. Had to play Ms Pac Man--it was an off day for me at the game :(.

Hung out at my favorite everything in a bread bowl...ate eggs and bacon in a bread bowl for breakfast and clam chowder in a bread bowl for lunch-dinner combo. Had a margarita to boot. Yum!

I spent a zillion dollars, enough to get half a room on a weeklong cruise, yesterday. They had fabulous holiday merchandise calling my name! Plus a few NBC things I needed for gifts. Gladly going home empty handed as I had most of my purchases shipped. They did not have any winter/holiday antenna toppers other than NBC styles. I got the turkey mickey and indiana jones hat. No holiday pins either. I'm not a big pin person but I always pick up a holiday one or two.

Has anybody been collecting the Mickey Christmas series of plates / ornaments / mugs / figures / disc ornament / ball ornament? It was a different Mickey each year and this is year 5 of 5--Sorcerer Mickey. I was unable to find the figurine. I found the figure ornament and everything else, but in years past there was a separate figure.

I don't know if they didn't make it or if they don't have it/are out of it. Will have to send my spies looking! There is a new series now that Mickey is done--Disney wouldn't want to lose your $$$$! Snow White is the 2005 group and I guess it will be a different princess for the next 5 years (SW is 1 of 5).

I collect plates and I'm big on Christmas decorating... :) I do it Disney style...one tree is up, though I can't claim to be the one that decorated it. Have a tree or two more to go. We'll be ready for the Thanksgiving crowds .

OK end of my rambles. That's what free wireless access gets you! And if I get "randomly" selected for security screening again I'm going to hurt someone. It's not so random when it's coming and going. I mean come on, if I wanted to take down the plane why wait? ugh...

OH...jury is still out on Prime Time Shuttle...have a call or two to make this week then I will share my info. JetBlue of course is fab if you have them and if you don't get strip searched.

Hi all,

We're on the CA to FL repositioning and our DIS friends asked us to write some thoughts on DL/DCA. So, we thought we'd share it with you too...some of you may be veterans as well, feel free to add!

Happy planning!

DL and DCA Favorites – Family of Mom2Belle&PeterPan, ca-disney-dad

Hello all! We promised that we would write down our native California favorites! DL/DCA is much smaller than WDW. Keep that in mind and you will not be disappointed! Though smaller, our Disney parks have their own special magic and charm!

DL:

1. Fantasyland – If you have children or have that inner child Disney love, stop by and see each of these rides. Same as WDW, do these early in the day if they are your priority, Dumbo should be first due to load time.

2. Toontown is great for the kids, and fun to do a quick walk through for adults. Save this for last unless you have little ones in our humble opinion.

3. Rollercoaster/Fast Ride favorites:

· Matterhorn!!! Still our favorite after all these years! Go there first! If you stay onsite at the DL Hotel, take the Monorail to Tomorrowland and go straight to the Matterhorn. Ride both sides, the left side is our favorite.)
· Splash Mountain – Long lines too, do this early or during eating times.
· Big Thunder Mountain Railroad – not one of our favorites, but loved by many. We do not ride it any more since the accidents…too many times broken for our liking.
· Space Mountain – cannot wait for this to re-open!!!
· Indiana Jones Adventure (The second ride we head to after the Matterhorn when Space Mountain is closed.)

4. Other favorites:

· Pirates of the Carribean
· Haunted Mansion
· Winnie the Pooh ride
· It’s a Small World (look at the outside of ours – awesome!)
· Fantasmic (not to be missed at DL!)
· Tom Sawyer’s Island (a nice break and fun for the kids…love the rope walk - closes at dusk)
· The Walt Disney Story Featuring "Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln"
· The Jungle Ride (my speech-language pathology assistant drives one of the boats – if your driver is a brunette female, ask her is she is Paula who works with Barbara)
· DL Railroad (just to sit a bit and see the park)
· Star Tours
· Snow White Show (with kids, if you like singing, and/or if you have the big Disney magic in your heart. Snow White is not my favorite of the stories, but I really enjoy this show. Dh liked it “once.”)
. Autopia - for young and old alike, hopefully their que lines will be fixed by next August...very unorganized last times we visited due to Tomorrowland construction.

Our Favorite “Eats” at DL:

(DL/DCA restaurants for the most part are a step-below those at WDW, but still enjoyable all the same).

1. Plaza Inn (buffet, enjoy their character breakfast)
2. Rancho Del Zocalo (we eat here most times! Mexican food and barbeque. Easy to share a meal between two adults if both are not huge eaters. Kids love the kid’s meals here.)
3. The Blue Bayou – an all time favorite. Make your PS in advance. Ask to sit by the water. It’s fun to chide with the Pirates of the Carribean riders; we always pretend to throw some food to them, lol!
4. Cafe Orleans preferred (French Market Restaurant OK too)– tasty buffet with southern style food.
5. Redd Rockett's Pizza Port – believe it or not, we have not eaten here, but have heard from friends that the pizza is good.

Arlene, you will definitely be able to see the parks and most everything in 3 days. I’d opt for park hopper passes. August and September are our hottest times of the year, but usually it is dry heat in August. It will probably be busier than normal with the 50th Anniversary. We do recommend taking a mid-day break to rest and swim. And, if for some reason you are ready to keep going, do so.

Read on laughingplace.com about hours and fastpass. DL will probably be open until 11:00 p.m. or 12 midnight. DCA closes first usually after 10 p.m. in the summer.

We’ve had problems with mosquitoes and West Nile virus this year, so be prepared to wear some kind of mosquito repellant at night. Avon has a great one for kids and adults alike.

We’ll write soon about DCA and DTD next weekend or so!

Oh BTW, those of you staying at HoJo’s: I read that they sell DL tickets to their guests, I’d e-mail them for the details. Also, next to this hotel is “Mimi’s Café.” This is a nice place for any meal, dh and I love their cobb salad at the one by our home…he gets the bleu cheese dressing tossed and I get it with the nonfat french dressing – tossed with dressing on the side…and we love their buttermilk muffins too!

That’s it for now! Time write my daily notation goals and objectives for my students for tomorrow!

Cheers! Perhaps we can meet some of you and yours for ice-cream or some rides while you are here in CA.

Have a great week!

Barbara & Brian

---- I second the left side. I've always felt that it was better then the right side.

· Space Mountain – cannot wait for this to re-open!!!
· Indiana Jones Adventure (The second ride we head to after the Matterhorn when Space Mountain is closed.)

---- I will also be glad to see Space Mountain open again. It's been closed too long.

---- Indiana Jones is one of the best rides at DL.

Our Favorite “Eats” at DL:

---- The absolutely best place to eat at Disneyland is also the hardest to get into. I'm talking about Club 33. If you ever get the chance to eat there, don't turn it down. It's expensive, but it's worth it. I took my wife there on one of our first dates. See had no idea - up until the last minute, she thought we were going to the Blue Bayou.

Ken

Jindy! Kaylin got your letter in the mail! You would have thought it was Christmas! She was so excited! We will get her a letter out this week sometime! She is excited to know someone on the ship! Have a great week everyone!

Well here we are in Venice, FL, checking out our property south of here. Had a storage shed door wedged in a tree and a pool queue stuck 8” in the ground. In Punta Gorda there a nautical chart place where I able to get a chart of the Caribbean and a mega big chart that would show our whole route. The mega big one is on order and we will see how big it is when it is shipped to us. Their web site is WWW.waterproofcharts.com .

Punta Gorda in areas is kinda like a war zone, clean up still in progress. I am thinking of building a geodesic dome style house as the survived Charlie with no damage. We are off to the other coast early tomorrow to visit a manufacture of domes. Living in Space Ship Earth, tee…heee…. It would be cool to have a door bell with Walter Conkite (sp?) doing a narration……

Then we should be at WDW by noon or so staying at BCV.

Hope all are having a great week . Found a dive shop where we might get an instructor job when we move down here. Just for fun kinda job.

Impressive date. No wonder she married you. ;)

Last time at DL we were a little early for our Blue Bayou ressie and my youngest DD said:

"Why do we even have to wait? Let's just go ring the bell and go to that other place again... it's right there and I like it better anyway"

She has great taste - just doesn't understand the whole invitation only concept.

We were able to go several times and it was always comped to boot. I can't even imagine what the tab was for our group of 6 last Christmas!
Unfortunately, DH's company changed suppliers and we lost our Club 33 contact. :( What WERE they thinking?
I'm consoling myself with the fact that I understand they don't offer a lunch buffet anymore and that was always my favorite.

The lunch buffet was my favorite also. They now have a lunch salad bar with a choice of 4 main items. The salad bar still has the fruit, cheeses, and shell fish.

I had promised my wife a weekend trip to DisneyWorld when she met her goal at Weight Watchers (75 lbs). She achieved that this summer, so we were originally headed down this fall. After we booked on this repo cruise, thought that finances (and time) with two kids in college would dictate that the cruise would suffice.

Well, we decided to go for DW anyways and are leaving on Thurs. Got a good deal at PO Riverside and stretched the weekend to five days. Can't wait.

According to what I have seen, the official opening of Stitch is Nov. 16th (the day we come home to NY). Has anyone seen it yet? How?

Jeff, are you on any particular monorail? Would love to meet you.

We are anxious for updates on the cruise. Like everyone, we are speculating what will happen, but would like some real news.

Bill (and Mary)

Jeff just works in monorails. He'll be working evenings this weekend. Just ask for Jeff (blonde loud guy) to just about anyone in the department and they'll tell you where he is working. I'll be up on Sunday afternoon if anyone wants to meet up (Scott.....)

Wow! Sounds like there are several of you who have been to Club 33 at DL...sure would love to try that some day! Unfortunately, I haven't a clue how you get an invite. Neither DH nor I works for a company that could "get us in."

Hope everyone is having a nice week. I'm truely in countdown mode now for our trip to WDW and the 10-day cruise. We leave in just over a month, and there is SO much to do between now and then. Plus, I am hosting Thanksgiving this year and my company's holiday party is the weekend before we leave for WDW. Very exciting! :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Cheers, Kara

Just got to WDW to day at about 11:30 and at 4:00 got our room at BCV. Long day drove from Venice to Coco and then back to WDW. We checked out a dome home manufacture in the Coco area.

Jen we will be back in Tampa on Sat night, and fly out on Sunday early AM. Will Jeff be working Fri Night?

Bill and Mary we are at BCV, will check the board and email everyday. Will send a PM. Maybe we could meet up on Friday.

Peter, thanks for the nice words.

Food and Wine is on and there are some pretty good offerings, too many to mention. I am bummed out that the cook book of the various offerings is sold out. Maybe later this week.

I am almost finished with Path Between the Seas, should finish on the flight home. I have been taking notes and will make a cliff note version to take on the cruise. I can’t wait to get the map. Will be making up a log book to keep navigation points etc so I can plot it out later. This should be a fun project to keep me busy.

Later kids, I gotta g to the Magic Kingdom this morning. Silly me up at 4:00 this morning, no I am not excited……I think Lynn wants to get me some Ridlin..

Looks like we'll miss you this time Scott. Jeff doesn't work until Sat. Maybe, MAYBE, we can come up Friday....

Jen, whatever works, but don't go out of your way.

We are off to the MK.

This morning I made a log page to track our Canal Cruise route, with places for weather and sea conditions, wind etc, and other notes. Then I can plot the route on the chart when we get home.
