Or another way to look at it ... you guys are TAKING THE MAGIC AWAY from it's home ... and we're BRING THE MAGIC HOME. :rotfl:

:bounce:
Back from the 7-day Western (5/22) and we signed up onboard for the 14-day Panama Western:bounce: :bounce:

We missed booking a room when they were originally released and really questioned the cost when it kept going up. However, they did offer the 10% reduction and $200 credit for booking on-board so we jumped on it. Wanted cat 6, but only cat 5 GTY was available. A little worried as we need connecting rooms (me, DH, DD10, DS8, DS6, DD4), but I guess I don't mind if I get one room to myself while DH has to sleep with the kids!!!!

This cruise works out perfect for us, we also get to celebrate our anniversary (5/23).

While on the Magic last week, we were surprised how excited the crew was for the Panama trip. Every castmember really lit up when we mentioned that we were planning on the trip. One of the castmembers in the Oceaneer Club told us that they plan a special theme for the entire cruise (Pirates pirate: ), and they are going to introduce a totally new program in the Oceaneer Club and Lab. Apparently, the Pirate theme will also be used for the adult events as well. Anyone else hear anything????

Yeah, but if some of the rumors are true:

We are bringing the Magic for a first look at its NEW home ;)

(This based on the rumors that DCL will build a new ship and then bring the Magic out to the west coast permenently.)

Tsk, tsk, tsk. Where is your California spirit?! The East to West is BRINGING THE MAGIC HOME!!! After all, Disneyland is the Original!!

Pirate theme for us big kids would be fun and interesting. There was a bit of privateering going on in the area we will be headed to. Maybe informative lectures about the Nobel Brotherhood.

Hope they offer some interesting presentations about the Canal, it has a great history.

14 days, will be interesting to see what kind of programming will be offered.

When on the 5/16 4 day Wonder chatted with Captain Henry Andersson. He will be staying with the Wonder during 2005. We talked about the tight the Magic will be in the locks during the transition of the Canal. I remember him saying there would be four feet available on the beam and I can not remember the length clearance. Kinda recall about six feet on the bow and stern. Kinda a tight fit for a big vessel.

The locks in the canal are 110 feet wide and 1000 feet long. The maximum size ship (panamax) allowed is 106 feet wide and 965 feet long. The Disney ships are 964 feet long and 106 feet wide.

I am also interested in seeing what activities they have in store for us! I was also wondering if they will have some sort of a big "bash", being that we will be on the first of it's kind. It will be great no matter what! We have been in room 2126 the last two cruises, and are hoping to get it again. Is anyone out there on the 2nd floor, or am I gonna have to sneak to deck 6 to party?

Having lived in Florida 6 years and California 23 years I can only say that the greatest day of my life was when I boarded that plane leaving FL for the LAST TIME and came back home to California. :Pinkbounc

Trust me, the MAGIC will be just as overjoyed!!! No bugs, no humidity, no rain, no mosquitoes.....IT may never want to go back! :rotfl:

You know, I've thought about that. IF California really is going to be the MAGIC'S new home eventually, that means there will be a second EAST to WEST cruise through the canal. :earseek:

Good morning everyone!

I've been playing around on the computer looking for some fun things to do in the ports. In Curacao, there is the Dolphin Academy www.dolphin-academy.com where they offer both the encounter and the swim. We did the swim last year in Cozumel, and it is a once in a lifetime experience! The bad news is, on the website they state that Wednesday is reserved "only" for the Adventure of the Seas cruiseship. I plan to email them and ask what gives considering "we" will be there on Wednesday! Hopefully the Disney higher ups will have some pull regarding our visit there. In Cozumel, Disney only offers the encounter, if you get a chance, go for the swim!

If we are totally blown out of the water by RCL, then I also found at the aquarium www.curacao-sea-aquarium.com they have the sea lion training experience which looks fun!

Regarding the people from the "other" 14 day cruise, some of the things they are saying whether in fun or not, are uncalled for and hurtful. It would appear "that" group would enjoy the Amstel tour! :drinking1

Okay, back to searching the computer! Have a great day!

Robin

They have a scuba dive as well with the dolphins which hubby and I would love to do, hopefully Disney will get some pull that day!

The Curacao dive with dolphins is limited to people that are dive certified (if you're already dive certified then cool; otherwise too expensive IMHO) and they limit the dive with dolphins to TWO people per dive team :earseek: not to mention it's probably pricey

I certainly hope we get to do some type of dolphin excursion while in Curacao. Although the snorkeling looks excellent, and the beaches look beautiful. I'm really looking forward to our day there. I think even more than our day at Castaway (gasp!) :earseek: Well, of course it will all depend on the excursions available, costs, our distance from the port, etc. Because I also enjoy exploring...so we'll see...

I'd love to visit the Curacao Liqueur distillery to grab a couple of bottles while we're there. Their website is actually quite nice and has a little history of the island on it. (Agricultural history anyway.)

Okay Robin, you stomp really hard and I might hear you! Hope everyone is having nice weather Typical Florida weather here. Enjoying the pool one minute, and the next thing you know theres a thunderstorm! So much for the tan! Now it won't be long before the state bird arrives! (the mosquito)

Have a great weekend!
