20050514..May 14, 2005...Official Check in Disney's 1st 14 Day thru Panama Canal

We're using our points for the PC cruise -- although not directly.

I am renting out most our 2004 & 2005 points for $10 each (383 points total). It won't cover the whole cost of the cruise, but it covers about 2/3 of it.

On behalf of our " Bringing Home the Magic" cruise, let me be the first to offer virtual amends for any ill will sent by our *team*.

As an offer of peace I'm sure we can get Jazzman to give EVERYONE from this thread a glass of wine as he has already offered to our cruisemates. There is only 1 catch. It's either 1 glass to be shared by all or we can use his glass for each.

Hope this will start the healing process moving along !!!

I was told by DVC - CAT 5- 388 pts. per person- if there is any avail on 6/14. We're renting out our points too to pay for this cruise. Much cheaper than using the points...

What do you think guys- they're all ready to throw poor Grumbo overboard! Grumbo can be part of our group- less Costcos on the journey to California.... he'll be happy...

We want BIG GIFTS for contrition here! Come on, you guys can come up something good, or can't you ?..... ( As she throws down the gauntlet...) :teeth:

Hey Scott,

So is June 14 the day that DVC will be announcing the point schedule for this cruise? Hmmm. I have been meaning to call DVC, but haven't gotten around to it. I would be willing to give up my cash ressie and sail on points, but I figured that DVC wouldn't set up a point exchange for this cruise -- not given how well cash sales are going! Have you spoken to DVC about it? Would love to know anything Membership Services shared with you about it.

Mark~

Thank you for the very first present! Very cute! But you guys have to think BIG! Jazzman, you are gonna have to spring for a virtual case, or two! LOL! Big faux pas' require big gifts & lots of groveling- oh, kpl....

Mark & Sandra are the first on our info list! OK, Jazzman too, even though he offered poor Grumbo... It's the thought that counts!

Come on, we want more presents ::yes:: right guys!

dianthus- We thought about sharing from our glass, but we're not quite sure your group could handle it.

I think now that you have some of us posting here on your thread you might get some decent post counts.;)

Kelli, yep scouting out the ports o call for the cruise, yeah that's it... Really it was just by chance. Really having a tough time getting back into the work thing. Oh well. Lots of trips to plan..

DVC points are as follows( this is per memory as I have them etched on the calender at work, so they may be off slightly)

Cat 4 - 455
Cat 5 - 388
Cat 6 - 374
Cat 7 - 347

I will fix these when I get to the office tomorrow but they are approximate. In checking availability. It looks like there are Cat 4, 7, 9, 10, 11 available. These seem to be in a real state of flux as they seem to change quite regular.

Thought about renting out points but don't want to deal with the hassle, just me. We are lucky enough to have the points so why not use them.

Will also use points for a WDW stay before and DL stay after. Thinking Polly before and GC after doing the concierge thing if available.

Hi All,

Verandah Man the Peace Maker here, LOL!!!

I was on the phone with MS today, the points needed for a cat. 9 on our 8-20-05 cruise is 266 per person for the first two people and 171 for the third person. I don't know if this helps anyone on your cruise, but I thought I would offer this info.

I'm hoping to use points for me and cash for my DW and DD.

I wish you all a very MAGICal cruise in May '05!!! I can't wait to hear all about it!!!

OK I'm playing over here. Bunch of turncoats on the Eastern Transitional.
Just to let you know Jazzman has been P.M.ing me all week laughing at you guys. I told him to be nice but now I see he slams EVERYONE.

So whats to eat?

Cheers,
Grumbo

P.S. Verandahman IRL is a dogcatcher and is the male Cruella De Ville of New Jersey. He isn't at all like he acts online ;)

Boy, with all of us posting over on this thread, you guys should match our thread count in no time!!!

I better be careful with what I say on this thread since I am meeting four of your fellow cruisers for dinner in New Hampshire in about a month....hi Pétér!! Shall I bring the crowns to this dinner to distribute to all of you???

WOW.. that is great... not much more per person than I had to use for the Christmas cruise for a lower Cat!!! Of course I don't think I have any points now until 2006....... Maybe I'll see what I can do cash wise for Christmas and transfer my points to this one. I've never tried renting the points, usually because I use them all and then some! ... it's a thought.. is it pretty easy to do?

huh? there's ANOTHER repo cruise?? :rotfl:

I'm dying to hear from you guys as you cruise through the canal and come to CA ... I might even have to roll the backside out of bed at some insane early hour to see the ship come into San Pedro :teeth:

Yep, you guys will all be jealous with envy as we cruise into the San Pedro Harbour on the morning of May 28th. And to think, you will still have another 2 1/2 months of WAITING TO DO!!!!
The ship will be worn out by August with all those Californians and Costco cruisers! (Nothing against Calif. I grew up there!)

Hey guys (on our thread) just a reminder----if you use your DVC points just remember, you have to pay in full at time of booking for any second, third, and fourth persons if you are not using points for them! We rolled over on the 10 day Christmas and used points for me and DH and had to pay about $1,200 on Jan. 20, 2004 at 8 a.m. EST! That's the only bad thing, if you are wanting to pay cash for the other people in your stateroom. Like Leslie, we used all our points for DH and myself for the Christmas Cruise. However, I think we have some in time for the PC cruise so was thinking about using some points at OKW for before since my sister wants to go early with DH. I'll find out more at the end of this month when all 8 of us get together for the parent's 50th wedding anniversary.

Okay, work to do.......

Linda

Here is the point info from DVC.

Cat 4 - 455
Cat 5 - 388
Cat 6 - 374
Cat 7 - 342

Sorry, these are the only catagories I have info on.

Just about a week away to see what will be available.

Linda, thanks for the reminder, we will being doing it all on points if possable. Sounds like you just rooled over your cash reservation, do I have that correct?

Now that glass is MORE like it!!! That's about the size of my average pre-dinner cocktail anyway...

If I could, I'd do both cruises, but given the choice - I had to take cruise #1 :cheer2:!!!!!!!!!!!!

Verandah man - my DD received the post card u sent her. I have to thank you so much! I'll post an official thanks in the post card thread!

You're a sweetie - no matter what Grumbo says!!!!!!!!! ::yes::

Scott-I told DVC after they told me what was available and had the cruise line on hold, that I had booked a cash reservation in the same category and that I wanted to have the same stateroom (since we had 3 staterooms for our kids/grandkids) and so they put my DVC reservation into that stateroom and moved my DCL reservation to another room. Then after I hung up with DVC, I had to call DCL directly and cancel the cash ressie and have them credit back my AX card for the deposit. It worked well except for the DD which I have already paid DVC for!!!

Good luck

Linda

Linda, Thanks Much for the info. Will see how we fair. Actually we really like the Nav Veranda's, even better than the reg veranda staterooms so might grab one of them if available. Funny how the availability is in a constant state of flux.

Just checked availability

Cats 4,5,7,8, 9, 10, 11. What a roller coaster

Hi everyone! It's been a very insane week at work, so I had some catching up to do! Do I sense a little hostility on the boards?HA! Just remember one thing.....we're first!!!HAHAHA
As for us not being able to handle the big glass, I just came back from the Western, and survived a evening at Carlos N' Charlies. I think we can handle it! Oh well! All in good fun!
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
