Amen everybody!!!

Just a question... Were any of you onboard the Magic in Sept. of 2000 when we were dodging hurricanes Keith and Joyce? It was an Eastern cruise. That was our first cruise. We went to Key West instead of St. Martin. The waves were pretty big, but we barely noticed the movement on the ship. The next day, the hurricanes had split their directions, and we went to St. Thomas with perfect weather. See Margaret, it's not bad at all!!!!!

Janis,
Thanks for the kind words... I LOVED Alaska!!!!

Renae

We were not on the ship that week.
We were in Key West!
I believe that it was the first time the Magic had been there. We were on the ship the week before.
Storms chased us up from St Thomas & St Martin. We kept looking at the weather chart (you know they used to post that on the ship) to see where the storm was. But we were just fine. Even got to go to Castaway Cay.
Great two weeks! :thumbsup2

OK, now I'm confused this time... Were you in Key West on the Magic, or on an island tour? If you were on an island tour, how did you get to see the map, and get to go to CC? I wished I'd have known you guys then, it would have been a hoot!!!

Sorry....
We were on the Magic the first week. Our first 7 day cruise.
When we got back to port, we drove to Key West for the second week.

They used to post a weather chart on an easel (I think I remember)on deck 9 outside of the spa (don't hold me to this-I'm old). Obviously they don't do that anymore.

We did get to meet a few people from the Magic when we were staying in KW. Even though I love Key West, it sure would have been nice to get back onboard.

Well, we made it to Wisconsin, a little ragged, but nothing serious...one dog found the bag of Beggin' Strips and ate them ALL.....of course, they didn't stay down so Emmie has an orange spot on her back! :guilty: So much for a fresh grooming for Grandma!!!

Saw some vehicles on the side of the road just into Wisconsin, with Parrothead sayings on them....is there a Buffett thing up here?!? :hippie:

The biggest bad news is that Marco and Polo have been paid for and we really have to give them up!! The great news that their new Mom and Dad live 6 hours from Etta in Findlay, Ohio. We're going to meet them in South Bend, :drive: Indiana one day this week, so I can make a fool out of myself saying goodbye to my boys!!! But at least they won't have to fly again. That can't be a good thing....and they already have one under their belt. :o

I hope everyone is having a good weekend....we're on vacation and not looking at the clock!!! :dance3: Which is a good thing, since I only have dialup here.... :surfweb:

Hi everyone

I'm on the MAGIC this week - now I know why I missed her so this past couple of months

having a grand time - storm brewing out there and it is very windy outside and we are going at a pretty good clip - but it is smooth nevertheless

3Dan and his family are here also -

miss all the lanyard people - we have ours on from last year and people sort of stop and try to read what is on it -

hope all have a great week

Bob,

Now I get it. I like Key West too, but if the Magic came into port, I'd want to get back onboard instantly. It's much more fun than staying in one place....!

Renae

Kay,

I hope you get this! Please let 3Dan know he's invited for dinner with you guys when you get off. We'll be waiting for a phone call Sat. morning to let us know if you can make it...

Renae

Kelli...glad you guys made it safely to Wisconsin.....so sorry you have to say goodbye to Marco & Polo......Please say hi to Etta from Mom and I....

Kay....hope you have fun on your cruise and that the storm that is brewing doesn't affect your itinerary too much. Please say hi to Harry and Bill and his family for us.

Well...today Mom and I did something "sorta" fun....we went to a taping of the Canadian Antiques Roadshow here in town and we were able to bring 2 items each with us....some things we had appraised were higher than what we though and some were lower...not enough to retire yet....but it was fun seeing the "treasures" people had brought with them.

Here's a picture of Dundurn Castle...the Roadshow event was held on the castle grounds

Here's the appraisal tent (located right in front of the castle)....

and this is the line of people still waiting for an appraisal when we left....

Renae:

I will certainly tell him - but he has Mammaw with him and I don't think it would be in their schedule to come over this time. They want her to see the parks and DTD before returning home on Sunday morning.

It would be more convenient for them to meet at one of the parks or DTD - they will not have a car either so it makes it hard on them. There are 9 of us and all 9 will not fit into one car

I will be giving you a call - I think I have your no. in my cell phone, but please PM me with it so I am sure I still have it.

Elaine,

So, tell us all about it!!! Enquiring minds, you know... What did you take? I've always wanted to take a couple of my things, but it's never been where I am. oh well, I'll live vicariously through you...lol

We were there for over 3 hours (not bad really considering the line when we left) and I left Mom with our stuff in line a couple of times while I went and took some pictures around the Castle grounds....this Castle is actually located in our downtown core and I actually walk it just about every day when I go for my walks during my lunch break at work...but of course it's something you take for granted and just ignore when you're walking....it was cool to see the Castle up close....Mom and I are thinking of going back one weekend to actually tour the Castle itself.

About what we took....we took things that we always wondered what they were worth but didn't want to pay for an appraisal :) ....some figurines that my Dad bought my Mom when they were dating when he had to work out of town....they were made by Geobel - the company that made/makes Hummels....and a couple of china pieces that belonged to my Mom's Mom. None of the items we took were things we would ever consider selling but it was cool to find out what they were worth in today's dollars.

On our news tonight was a story about people that went to the show and some surprise appraisals...some good like one man had a picture that was worth over $7,000 and then there were the disappointments - the peopel that thought their items were worth "millions" to find out they were really worth "pennies".

Overall, other than having to stand most of the time (you could have taken a chair but the line kept moving and most people ended up putting their chairs away)....we had a good time...not something we would go to again....but it was a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Elaine,

I'm like you, it would be fun once, just to see what things would be worth. I'd never sell anything of mine like that either. I'd mostly like to see what other people brought! Thanks for the 'appraisal' of the day, lol!

Yes, there was a Buffett concert saturday night. Sounded great, except JB forgot a couple of lines to "One Particular Harbor". :sad2:

Funny story about the beggin' strips. We learned early on that Tippy and treats(doggie or human) could not co-exist in any close proximity. There's this story about Lee's birthday cake that her mom made, Tippy and the trip home.....

South Bend? We will be there for the weekend visiting with her parents.

Just have to bump our thread up

BTW - just wanted to give everyone a piece of information

Remember last year when we were stuck in Cabo and the anchor being stuck or whatever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Well, 3Dan and I and Harry were on the Bridge this afternoon at Noon - I got to blow the Mickey Horn again - but ANYWAYS - want to share this with everyone

THE ANCHOR was not stuck on the ocean floor, as we thought.

As the anchor chain was being pulled up from the bottom, the winch got stuck and it twisted the chains around the gears - and it continued to get wound around the gears and winch

that was the problem, not the anchor being stuck on something

We met the First Captain, Mary - she is such an awesome person.

Some day we might very well see her as one of the Captains of one of the new Disney ships.

I asked about a name for a new ship, should it be built

"Disney Rumor"

We all laughed and thought it was very funny.

The Bridge has been given a very nice uplift. It is all closed in now and cannot be seen from the Spa area - makes it more dark and easier to see outside now.

It was AWESOME to be on the Bridge again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Kay...you lucky duck....My ultimate dream is to someday blow that Mickey horn....and you've done it twice!!!!!!!
