Jeff,

I think you guys will be very happy with your DVC purchase.
Now you can get a room at the Grand CA for after the cruise.

Guessing you got your points at SSR as that is where the incentives were being offerred.

Yup, I picked up the points at SSR. Probably going to stick with our current room for now and bank the points for vacation in 2006 since the cruise is going to eat up all my free time.

Jen that would be great, will email you our plans for that week. We will be flying into Tampa for this trip. Will be heading to WDW for a few days for Food and wine. Almost did not get to go due to a trial, it got postponed, yes...... I hate it when work gets in the way of life.

A little off topic, but has anyone stayed at Polo Towers in Vegas? Just got back from a week in Vegas. I think we can trade out via DVC...

I also own at Hilton (HGVC), I believe they are partially owned by satan... ;) I'm outta points with them until 2006. I usually use my HGVC for Vegas.

They are very different from Disney...I've never had anyone stop talking to me so fast...when we said we weren't interested in adding on to our ownership.

I told them Disney was more flexible and a better value. I don't think they like me anymore :) but I still got our $40 to gamble with and 2 free buffets...that was the whole reason we went to listen to them.

I don't ever think I've had to listen to the Disney talk...I've always wanted to buy, and the last time I just did it over the phone. The CM discount is great!

PS: Notice the new doggie bed in the pic...

Scott, you'll love Tampa's airport, so much nicer than MCO. We can meet in Sarasota maybe for dinner at a great canjun place...

OR...some of that Half Moon Cay (the Holland America private island) sand from the November 7 Service Dog training cruise)....I might just do that...can't walk on the stuff but salting it between my toes would bring back lots of memories...

 Okay, I'm not too embarrassed. I'll get over it:teeth: Thanks for the well wishes Jindy!

Peter, are we still piling in with you on the bus from the port to Disneyland? Just want to finish getting things firmed up on the trip.

205 Days to go and the only thing left to do is buy the new digital camera and get from DL to LAX. I'm so looking forward to this cruise.

Jeff, I couldn't help but notice your comment about buying a digital camera. What are you going to buy if I may ask? I plan to bite the bullet and get one this weekend. I am torn between the Kodak and the Canon both with the 10X optical zoom. I leaning towards the Canon because of the image stabilization, but being a typical woman, I can't make up my mind.

Thanks!
Robin

We have the Olympus C-730, now the C-750, 10X optical and 3X digital. Really like it. We use the C-5050 for underwater.

Hate to throw another one into the mix.

Anyone want to buy an film underwater camera?

I'm seriously looking at the EOS Digital Rebel. At $900 and 6.3 Megapixels its pretty much what I want in a camera.

Besides, since I've got a dive master leading the diving excursions on the canal trip, he'll have his camera to take plenty of pictures.

Darn it lost another sale. Definately go with the most megapixels one can get.

Example of the 10X optical.

Thanks Scott, more to add to my confusion and indecisivness! Actually, the Olympus C-770 4MP 10X ultra zoom is one on my list. When maxing out your optical zoom to the fullest, do you get the camera shake? I have a digital camcorder that shakes pretty bad when I zoom to the max. But given the comment about getting the most megapixels, that would eliminate the Canon as it is 3.2 megapixels. I just was interested in it's image stabilized zoom. Okay, if megapixels are the most important, then it sounds like the new Kodak DX7590 5MP 10X optical zoom would be the best for me. It's nearly $500, and that is my limit for my new toy. I will still have my SLR with the assortment of lenses also.

Any other comments would be welcome!?:teeth:

Lynn is the expert on this and I defer to her.

She feels it is not like adding a long lense to a SLR. There is some but not much. In Tanzania where we used the C-730 we did use a bean bag for stability and do carry a mini tripod.

Personally I don't think it is that bad. I take pictures and she is a photographer.

We did have a 1.2 MP before the C-730, I think it was the C-710. That is where we really noticed the difference in MP. We see the difference from the C-730 at 3.2 MP with the C-5050 at 5MP.

Thanks Scott and Lynn, just one last question if I may. If I did not want to make huge enlargements, just standard 4x6 and a once in a while 8x10, would getting the 5MP really make a difference? Or does the megapixels also matter for just general picture quality? Sorry, but this all new to me, and don't want to break the bank for some features I would never use or need.

Robin

The 3.2 works for 8x10. Remember that one can tweek the photos with various types of software and printer quality. Would definately want more than 3MP if printing larger. What we were told in various seminars on underwater photography was that 3MP has a limit of 8x10 for prints.
