Peter :wave2: Doing the job by the Mohegan Sun? Robb and I used to get great hot dogs - it was Super Duper Weenie in Fairfield, Ct. www.superduperweenie.com YUM!

Night...

Celeste! Too funny! Super Duper Weenie is very close to me, and right down the street from where I bought my car.

Robin

So sad...........I'm back from the Mousehouse!

Saw Eric and Renae! Didn't see Jeff. but it wasn't like I didn't try! Everytime we headed to the Monorail station I was on the prowl.

so the funny thing is..........DD Jamie and her friends take off after being at O'Hana's Sunday evening for ride on Monorail. They get off at the Transportation Center, see this guy with nametag "JEFF" and DD asks him if he knows me and sure enough..........it's JEFF!!! So, DD meets Jeff for first time and me....I can never run into him even when I try!

Had a great time. Too depressing to come home. Got the important things done though this morning. Spent the last 1 1/2 hours reading the last 20+ pages!

Okay, now just have to wait for September 3 to leave for the Member Cruise.

Then maybe I can sneak in a trip in December????

Linda

P.S. I did scrapbooking on the plane. No good movies to watch. Had 4 hours of uninterrupted scrapbooking time. I can get more done on the plane than at home!

Hi Robin,
Robb and I used to live in Massachusetts and we would have to drive down to Bridgeport every other weekend to pick up his son who lives in NY- so I know lots of the restaurants between the two points. Also- prior to my brothers divorce, he lived in Westport.

Hi Linda- Glad to see you are back. I got your package yesterday- thank you.

I have two questions...

One- does anyone know how to do the paper piecing from coloring books?

Two- does anyone know who the female artist is who sang the version of "On my way" from brother bear that we heard on the cruise?

Thanks!
Celeste

Celeste,

For paper piecing from coloring books, just copy the picture in the size you want on your page, then cut it into pieces that you want to make from your scrapbook paper. Use that as a pattern. It's really easier than it sounds, and can be really fun!

Renae

Well, I'm back from Walmart, they have NOTHING for scrapping, but a pretty good selection of DMC floss for x-stitch. Their prices are better than the one on 192 at least. No blinkie flip flops.

Linda, I'm glad you got home ok. Have you been to Pace's yet? I wanna Astro Bar!

Renae

Okay...I know I said I was going to spend the whole day scrapbooking but I just HAD TO go back to the scrapbook store this morning....saw some stickers last night that once I got home decided I HAD TO have, so needless to say I went back and lo and behold they were putting out stock that they got yesterday and I got a really cool scrapbook magazine/book. Scrapbooking 30 Minute Pages by Creating Keepsakes and it came with a FREE CD with 20 fonts!!!!! What a deal.

Linda - Glad you are home safe & sound...How did you manage to scrapbook on the plane. We were so cramped flying home and then the guy in front of me decides to recline his seat as far as it will go so it forces me to put mine back as well...I at least apologized to the lady behind me!!!! I'd have loved to have done some scrapbooking but instead read one of the two books I brought on board that I never looked at!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know about you all, but what Disney DOESN'T need is government oversight........just my opinion.....

How safe is AOL? Have you checked your kids mailbox lately? Don't get me started on AOL......they're hopeless!!

Good morning everybody.

I'm off to check out the brand new WALMART! It's only about 15 minutes from WDW, so when you come down, plan to check it out! Elaine, I'll be hoping to find page protectors, lol... you never know...

Renae

But this way, even people 1800 miles away know where you're talking about!!! Keep it up!! :goodvibes

Elaine: BIL is in Sun Prairie... somewhere near Madison. that's all the geography of WI I know.. or care to...:rotfl: Kelli how close is that to Etta?

You veteran scrappers would be proud of me... I worked all day yesterday and this morning and I actually finished 5 pages.. Okay 4 of them were the ones I started in Linda's class... but at least they are done!! Now I am out of the ones that Linda designed and on my own I am hopeless. Is there a website out there that you can get ideas from? I don't mind shamelessly copying the designs.

Elaine where are the scrapbooking stores in South FL?? Strange that I have to ask someone in Canada.... but you found them in Orlando so I figure you must know where they are here too...:cool1:

Renae: Is the new Wal-Mart the one out off the Oceola by 535?? We were waiting for that one to be open... We usually stop at the one out by the turnpike and then usually go to the one in Ocoee when we're at the MouseHouse. Always happy to have another option!! Is it a touristy one like 192?

Per Mapquest:
Total Est. Time: 1 hour, 51 minutes Total Est. Distance: 108.72 miles
I'm getting a lot of use out of Mapquest this weekend....:goodvibes

It's on the way to the Dells....nice tourist area--Waterpark capital of the World.

Now that all the kids have lives of their own, we don't get up that way anymore. But Elaine can still do the drive if it doesn't work out with ? BIL....does he have a name? Maybe we shouldn't say til they at least MEET!!!! :rotfl2:

Why do they assume that the death was Disney's fault?

DD said at least half the kids in her summer school government class brought in an article relating to the WDW death for current events last week.

Aimee and her teacher were the only ones who had ever been to WDW. The teacher was trying to figure out how that ride where you shoot at things with laser lights could cause a death... although it DOES spin pretty fast (or so she said)

Aimee had to explain that the teacher was talking about Buzz Lightyear not Mission Space and then explain the ride to everyone.
That's my Disney kid!

Honestly, so much misinformation out there and some folks are so quick to point fingers.

It is such a sad thing and I feel so badly for the family, but I agree that there had to be some underlying problem with the little guy. I just hope they can figure out what it was.

An even smaller world...Kim & I were both born in Bridgeport and moved here from Westport....BUT...we love Duchess hot dogs :goodvibes

Bette

Debbie,

The new walmart is south of Vistana on Apopka-Vineland (aka 535). I have a theory about directions... Women go by landmarks (as in, to get to my house turn by the big shoe with the soccer ball by IHOP) and men go by direction or street name (as in, south on 417 to 528 east) In a family of all guys, my directions don't fly too well, and I never get theirs!

Renae

Leslie,

Yes, it's on 535, and no, it's not TOO touristy... a lot of fake Disney stuff up front, but regular stuff in the grocery and other sections. The craft stuff is just one short aisle, though, which really bugs me... I'll still have to go to Ocoee when I want that, or to the Michaels off International Dr. (I miss Utah, waaaaaa) The produce seems better there than some of the others too.

Come on up and I'll take you to the few scrapbook stores I know here... we can crop any time you want to, between your heiny and my back, we will make quite a pair!

I don't know how close Ft. Lauderdale is to you- but I have taken some of the EK SDU classes- and they are amazing. Some are VERY basic and boring- like the color class- but it does give you some great ideas. Yes, I bought the color wheel....

Just a suggestion.

For Leslie and anyone else who is just starting, we are all happy to help, but a real class or two is imensly helpful to get you started right. The most important thing is to remember that scrapping is supposed to be about your photos and the story behind them, not how fancy you make your pages. I love the art of it as much as many people, and it's a great chance to be creative, but when you're just getting started, stick with the basics, then branch out and see what you like out of all the stuff that is available. That's what I teach in my beginners classes, and I think it's good advice. If you have any questions, email or pm me and I'll do all I can to help!
