So it's pretty clear we will reach the 12,000 post mark before we go. Any takers for 13,000? Seems like there will be a lot of us checking in from WDW. Could happen! :smooth:

Thanks to both of you for sending me those links. I tried them, and they still won't work. My IT guy here at work rebuilt my computer and removed all the "good" stuff. I can't view anything anymore!!! I e-mailed the link to myself at home and will try it tonight.

Thanks again!

What a bummer, Angela. Hopefully you can access it tonight when you get home. It shows all the pins that will be released and the description of them and prices. It should like they have you blocked for certain sites at your workplace.

Angela,

Here is what it says:

For the first time, Disney Cruise Line® is catching the wave to southern California, repositioning its flagship Disney Magic® for the summer of 2005, offering seven-night cruise vacations from the Port of Los Angeles to the Mexican Riviera. To get to California, the Disney Magic® must pass through the Panama Canal. From May 14 to May 28, 2005, Guests will set sail for a 14-day "Crossing Cruise."

This unique Disney experience will features fantastic themed-merchandise to remember this unique trip. As part of the merchandise assortment, there will be a collection of Limited Edition pins.

Based on initial Guest feedback regarding these pins, the Disney Magic® team has created a pin release process. It is the hope that this process will create a fair, equitable and enjoyable experience for all Guests on board the Disney Magic&reg.

* Pins will be released at Up Beat - Deck 3 Forward.
* Release times for pins will be the following:
o Port Days - 5:30 PM to 6: 30 PM
o Sea Days - 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM
* To purchase these pins, Guests should check in with a Crew Member prior to entering Up Beat to verify Guest's name.
* The Crew Member will give Guests one (1) voucher for the pin being released that day.
* On the initial day of release, Guests may purchase up to one (1) pin, per style.
* Guests can either pay for the pin at the merchandise register in Up Beat, or return to Up Beat before closing that same day of release to purchase the pin.
* The next day, any remaining quantities of the previous day pins will be available to purchase in Mickey's Mates - Deck 4 during regular store hours (please check your Personal Navigator for store operating hours).
* For specially created Limited Edition Crossing Cruise pins released in Mickey?s Mates (after initial release in Up Beat), Guests may purchase up to five (5) pins of a particular per style, per day until quantities are sold out.

This information will also be shared to Guests on board during the Crossing Cruise

Let's see if I have this right about the pins. Each day we pick up a voucher-ticket thing in our one hour window. Then, we can buy our pin then or anytime after until Up Beat closes (which Passporter says is usually midnight).

Is that everyone's understanding? Even with the ticket system, I hope there won't be much of a line or scramble getting one of the LE500 port pins.

-steve

The "explanation" was not very clear on that... that is what I am HOPING for (and makes the most sense).. which will help to avoid long waits. If you have to return somewhere within that hour window... then it's pointless.
At least this gives most people a shot at ONE of the port pins.... still can't believe they only made 500 of each.... when they could easily sell out a couple times that. :confused3
The craziness will start the next day if there are any leftovers. That's when the lines will start forming long before the store opens :bored: I hope they have plans for that also, so it isn't mass chaos and someone gets trampled!! As Kay said.. I've also seen them make a mess of pin distribution too many times. You would think they would LEARN.....:confused3
Those of you lucky enough to be traveling with a couple kids/family members etc... I'll be looking to trade for a few extras of everything for my hard core collector friends!! Guess I better bring more pins!!
Let's keep our fingers crossed that all goes smoothly and we're worried over nothing. Anyway.. it's a few :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 and we won't care about the pins ....:cool2:

Rob: Malibu travels really well since it's a plastic bottle...... I agree that amaretto goes with everything but those DiSarno bottles are HEAVY!

Do you think EACH person needs to be in the line? Or will they allow 1 person to get vouchers for each person in the cabin? I find it hard to believe my DH will want to be dragged down (away from any beverage or pool) to pick up a voucher. :rotfl: And, I can't even imagine the response from by DS9 when I tell him he needs to wait with me instead of heading over to the lab. I laugh just thinking about his response!

Hmm. THat brings up a good point. I was assuming that the "one pin" limit per voucher was also limited to "per cabin." Do you suppose that each person in line gets a voucher, regardless of the cabin number?

Thanks for posting the pin info for me! DISers are the best!

From the sound of it, I may just give up on pins this cruise. I'm getting stressed out just thinking about lines and vouchers. That's not how I want to spend my vacation. Sigh . . .

I was just thinking the same thing. If DW decides to stand in that line, missing the sunshine, cool sea breezes and poolside music, God bless her. But, if she wants me to spend much time in a line...and a long line at that..there had better be a cool refreshing beverage waiting for me when I reach the front!

I'm not worried about heavy. I'm a very efficient packer. I have all, ALL, my clothes in a garment bag save for one pair of shoes. I have a wheeled duffle bag with 2 more wheeled duffle bags inside. Larry will also have a garment bag for his clothes and the we will have another rolling duffle bag. That's 2 bags each to go down and 3 bags each to come back :).

Plenty of extra space in case I should run into Regina. :rotfl2:

I am reading it to say ONE per GUEST... meaning you gotta be there to get that voucher. Historically yes, you gotta have a body there to get the one voucher per person... believe me.. there will be people there with babes in arms getting vouchers for them..... Otherwise what is to stop a person from saying..."yeah.. I have 6 kids back in the labs... I need vouchers for all of them...":rotfl: Ask anybody that's been to pin events or special pin distributions..... we've seen it all....:rotfl2: and the stories we could tell......:rotfl:
Don't tell Joe but I am planning on dragging him into the lines... I just have to keep him well fed and .... uh.... happy...:rotfl::rotfl:;)

Ahhhh if we only knew...... :rotfl:
My guess is that 5/14 will be considered a Port Day... and we'll get the voucher at 5:30, once we are underway. Up Beat can only open when we are out in the water... so my guess is that they will clarify the info on the LA pin and it will be done the day before while we are at Sea on the way to LA. Remember this is my GUESS... Disney can change things anytime and they usually do. ;)

But, it is VERY easy for them to know how many guests are in my cabin. Yes, they just look it up. Can't be all that hard. Or, if I have all the KTTW keys in my hot little hand for my cabin, I think that would be the same. WHY?? :confused3 would they want those people to actually stand in line and cause more ruckus. If it is one per cabin, fine. But, if it is one per person, than they need a method to allow a person to pick up all vouchers for their cabin -- not have everyone standing there go get them. Pllllleeeeeeaaaasssseeee....

It really is not all that hard. I hope they don't make it hard. Just check it off when you pick up the vouchers for your cabin. easy peasy.

I read it like Leslie does. You want the pin..you have to be in line. You want more than one..the hubby or child has to be in line with you..for the duration..no cutting.

The things we have seen at pin events..people trying to get away with stuff is obnoxious to say the least.

Handing out vouchers to people in line is a painless process. Quick and easy, just like wristbands. Fair for everyone. Holding up the line while someone looks up people in a cabin..not so easy..definately not fun.

I was hoping one person in each family group could present all the ID cards for their cabin and get vouchers for them. That would cut down on the lines.
