I think it is awful that the TA's can get away with this.

If we lock our luggage (which we aren't allowed to do now) they cut the locks and we can't do anything about it.

I remember once when I was flying, and I returned home, there were baby clothes in my suitcase that I didn't put in there. So it happens both ways.

Actually, I am going to "seal" things in a clear plastic bag they can see through and that way they don't have to touch them (items other than clothes) that I don't want them to touch OR TAKE, if I have it inside my large bags that is checked.

Anything that is 'stolen' should be able to be claimed on your homeowners insurance ... Just have to file a claim with both the airlines and the insurance company. Yikes, what a mess to have to deal with.

The clear ziplock bags sounds like a great idea. You could seal them with masking tape and you would be able to see if someone opened them.

There are TSA approved locks that you are able to purchase. Personally, I think they are a bigger pain in the neck than not having them on.

Good luck with the claims.

(BTW . . . I have to say. .. I did actually 'take' someone's luggage once. I was at a dinky airport and I got so far as to put the bag in my car. I opened it to get out my directions and noticed the stuff didn't look like mine. I closed it and went back to baggage claim and there was a guy there wanting to 'trade' luggage with me. I thought that was a good idea. I'll never buy a black bag again...)

Lynda,
Birthday wishes being sent your way - Have a GREAT day!
:bday:

Kay,
Great idea on bagging things. I always put full outfits in ziplock baggies for my little ones when we travel. Much easier for them to get ready on their own.
Maybe I'll do a couple for me too and then just tuck any jewelry inside the folded clothes. Might make it tougher for anyone trying to make a quick grab out of my luggage.
So sorry it happened to your sisters.

Juli,

Where did you find the rolling garment bag. I really need this one, ours bit the dust after the last cruise...

I had bought those space saver travel bags a few trips back but have more recently discovered that you can get plastic bags that are about as large in the supermarket with the other storage bags and they are a lot cheaper. They also seem to work as well as the travel bags (IMHO). :)

I also extend birthday :bday: wishes to Lynda. We'll be at the Hyatt on Friday night but we'll be coming in late. Maybe we will see you on the bus to the port.

Marie

Thank you, thank you for ALL the birthday wishes...fair gives me chills to hear from all of you! Now that I'm finally over 50 I've really come to cherish each and every birthday...although my mom still insists she's too young to have a daughter of such advanced years...Ha!

Although the dinner is scheduled for earlier, Cash and I will be in the Hyatt lobby pretty late so we may see several DIS-groups filtering in. I can never sleep very well the night before a vacation no matter how well I pack and how organized I am...Right now the biggest tragedy is that I cannot find Cash's life jacket. The solid foam thing is huge, neon yellow with black trim and makes him look like a big furry bumblebee. I remember bringing it back from the 10-day cruise but simply cannot find it now...grrr...So I'll be up late and outside the room the night before the cruise to make sure that I don't repack, pace, and then check for items I forgot I packed....This must be why boarding is always such a blurr...I'm still asleep... :earsgirl: :love1: :grouphug:

Happy Birthday Lynda!! :cake: May all your wishes come true!!

I just have to post this for everyone.

Be careful of things you put in your luggage when flying to your destination.

My sisters were visiting me last week and as they were packing to go home, they put some jewelry and things into the side pockets of their suitcases. When they arrived home, some of the jewelry was missing and the other items that were in the side pockets were in the very bottom of the suitcase and it was obvious they were definitely removed and or MOVED. It had to be removed on the departure part of the flight, as when you get to your destination, your luggage is taken off the plan and put right onto the luggge arrival turnstile.

So, if we call the airlines (Delta) and say jewelry is missing, who is to prove it and who saw it?? I think it is awful that the TA's can get away with this. Here in Ft. Laud. some of the TA's are being set up and some have even been arrested lately. What is this world coming to.

If we lock our luggage (which we aren't allowed to do now) they cut the locks and we can't do anything about it.

I remember once when I was flying, and I returned home, there were baby clothes in my suitcase that I didn't put in there. So it happens both ways.

I don't think they should be allowed to ramble through our personal items. It is a violation of privacy - but guess they have to check somethings for security reasons - THERE HAS TO BE A LINE DRAWN SOMEWHERE

Actually, I am going to "seal" things in a clear plastic bag they can see through and that way they don't have to touch them (items other than clothes) that I don't want them to touch OR TAKE, if I have it inside my large bags that is checked.

So just be careful what you pack either going to your destination or getting back home.

Didn't proof read this so if typos, sorry

Yep, they checked my luggage on the Christmas Cruise when we flew over to Orlando. They thought they had found some treasure. But, to their dismay it was only pirate treasure. Plastic swords for the grandkids for pirate night!!!! pirate: (and fake doubloons!)
