We have a friend who just did a 14 day Panama Canal cruise and they had no shots. Their ship stopped in Panama, too.

I have been trying to put together a little surprise for Andrea (my wife) for the cruise. We will be celebrating our 15th anniversary during the cruise. For the past several years we have been discussing how wonderful it would be to take a cruise for our 15th and renew our vows on the ship. Our original plan was to take the 7day because we never thought the 14 day would be a reality. Well... we booked the cruise in late December and I kept a low profile and hadn't mentioned the renewal since then, all the while quietly working on a plan and checking the disneywedding.com site.

To make a long story even longer, after several attempts to find out the info, I finally received word today that DCL will not perform any vow renewals or weddings during our or any west coast cruises.

It would have been the perfect touch to this cruise. ...and I would have pulled it off.

I remember the last time I checked on immunizations, the travel office recommended the Hep-A (I think?) and to make sure your tetunus was up to date.

I asked our doctor and was told that nothing was required but he suggested the HepA & B (Twinrix) and a tetunus shot.

Could someone else do it?? I personally have married couples on other cruise lines (Carnival) with no problem at all. The ceremonies were beautiful.

Would they let you rent a room/lounge on the 2nd deck - or other deck) for an afternoon or evening?

If you can find a way, I'll be there for both of you...... would love to do it

Oh myyyyyyy! Becca (6) is a huge Ariel fan. In fact, she was parading around here yesterday in a 2 year old Ariel costume.

WOOHOO! I got passports too! Wow! Passports and a room #? Now, if only I could figure out how to get the rest of my life back on track!
By the way, my daughter, Kaylin was a little disapointed to hear that Jindy and her daughter, Adrienne are no longer going on the cruise. They were writing to each other, so they would already have a friend when cruise time came. Is there any little girls out there close to her age (7) that would like to have a pen pal? Kaylin would love that!

When we did Royal Caribbean May 2003, we stopped in: Aruba, transitted through the Panama Canal, stopped in: Puntarenas, Costa Rica; Acapulco; and Cabo and we were NOT required to get any shots, vaccines, tetunus, etc. and we survived

Our doc said we wouldn't need anything for malaria unless we would be going into the rainforest in Panama..that isn't happening. We had updated all our adult vaccinations..hepatitis and tetnus. That was all he recommended doing.

We had friends on the Christmas Cruise and Stacey actually made arrangements to do vow renewals on the beach in Key West. They had the whole thing all arranged for them.

It might be kinda fun about checking on a vow renewal on the beach at our first stop!

Does anyone have any info on spa product prices? My mom wants to get some more stuff, and I thought I'd compare the online prices with shipping to what you spend on the ship.


Nejthelion....hubby and I love many of the products we have purchased from the spa on the ship. You probably already know you can purchase them from their website (atimetospa.com). The prices are the same..the good thing about the website is..once you get going..they send you online coupons to use for a percentage off your purchases. We usually make one big order a couple times a year depending on how things last. Works out great and we don't have to worry about packing things to get them home from the ship.

That CDC website has to cover their bases (butts) according to our doctor. We originally went to the doc to get all that stuff, lol. Not funny, but kind of...even the doctor laughed when we told him all the vaccinations we wanted. He said..wait a minute..where are you going. He said..oh..no no no...this is all you need.

I will be travelling to Hawaii in August -- my son/daughter-in-law are renewing their vows - also on the beach - close to their house. He just recently came home from Iraq and is so excited to be renewing their vows. I would not miss it for anything.

Guess I'll have to pull out my Notary/Wedding booklets.

Quinine a classic British mosquito repellant, don’t forget the gin, as prescribed . The Col. at the Adventures Club would be quite proud. Weren’t quinine tabs used for malaria is days gone by? I think we will pack some good bug dope. I have in the past also used vitamin B-1 as a mosquito and black fly repellant. Took it orally when doing canoe trips to James Bay and Hudson Bay. My co-worker at the time would have bad reactions(swelling) to mosquito bites, after using the B-1 the bites yielded just normal reaction for him, I noted less bites. Don’t know how it worked.

Good advice about water, ice, and veggies. If you cant boil or peal it don’t eat it. Hand sanitizer is a handy thing to carry.

Weddings: I have been appointed a District Court Commissioner for a day to perform marriages, doubt if it would work on the ship as the we would be out of Wyoming. I have even done a marriage underwater, that was fun,cold but fun.

our doctor in the uk looked it up and said we only needed tetnus ( which we already have) hep a and typhoid..which thanks to the good old national health we got for injected against for free.. he discounted the maleria as we would not be going very far in land..
( ps my arm still ended up hurting tho from the injections and my wife still thinks i am a wimp!!)

Mickbee: When is your anniversary? We are celebrating 29 Magical years on the cruise as well. We were going to do a big trip for our 30th next year but when this cruise came up... we decided to celebrate 29 instead...LOL esp since we set sail right on our anniversary!


That CDC stuff was scary but they do have to go all out and cover all bases. Joe is going to the doc on Tuesday for something else so he is going to ask what they suggest. I personally am not worried since we're not venturing deep into the jungle or anything ... but I am a mosquito magnet... so maybe I better drink a lot of Gin & Tonic instead of margaritas..... or maybe in addition to the margaritas....
