2005 RPR/ WONDER/ AKL (Pictures, 4 videoclip on signature! END OF REPORT!)

Laura, you are so funny.:rotfl2: Did you ever find out what flooded your verandah, (hopefully case #3)? Can't wait for your next report. Have a GREAT weekend!!!

Jessica

laura
so glad that I caught up with the additions to your trip report :goodvibes
I have to agree those orange Mickey ears are fabulous :teeth:

Laura, I remember that first night. It did rain cats and dogs. I had put two of our suitcases on the verandah and they got rather wet that evening.

Our rotation was APPT and I did find that we didn't usually finish up dinner until 9:30/9:45 most nights.

Keep those reports coming, I'm loving them.

Nina

We never saw Nemo swimming in our Verandah, so we assume the ship didn't sink ... but Laura was in any case well equipped for sinking ... GRUMP!

That must have made you so happy that you could grump so much. Even without Nemo, LOL. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Yes, Laura looks very well prepared!

[Sorry, just COULDN'T resist!! BTW ~ love your trip report!!]

We enjoyed an excellent buffet breakfast at Parrot Cay, to be ready for a very busy day.
DCL claims that Parrot Cay has the same food you can get at Topsider / Beach Blanket … but we love lot more the Parrot Cay environment …

Our Nassau plans were quite ambitious … we would have liked to see ….… EVERYTHING !!! :)
Beckie, Terry , DGH and I had planned every detail to visit the city (island?) by ourselves  (“We will get lost!” DGH grumped, while we all were planning /dreaming at home!)
First stop was quite unusual: we wanted to visit, as first “must see” , the Ardastra Gardens, world famous for their marching flamingos. Through internet we knew the scheduling of the shows, and the morning show at 10.30 AM was fitting very well in our plans.
Beckie was very good at negotiation with a local taxi driver and we spent only 18USD (for the four of us) for the trip to the Gardens (“NOT so expensive!” had to admit DGH … while grumping ! ) :rotfl:
The flamingos show was fun, we enjoyed it; but we had too many places to visit, so we had to leave soon.

The second taxi negotiation was even better: we found another family to share the taxi with, so for just 20 USD (in four) we went first to Fort Charlotte, visited the Fort, while the taxi was waiting for us, then the taxi drove us to Atlantis resort.

A nice view of the Wonder and Atlantis from Fort Charlotte bushes

The legend says that this gun never shot a ball !!!… DGH grumped that, if it were to decide ( ... you never know !) ... to shoot now, after a few centuries … it would have been just to hit him !!! :rotfl:

After half an hour spent in the Fort, we went to Atlantis… We planned this stop at this very moment to cool up: it was noon and hot … “VERY HOT” grumped DGH !!! :)

The aquarium was nice … the pool was even better (“Is that a pool or a lake?” DGH grumped)
f265adf3.jpg

but the casino was THE BEST !!!
I started to play at a slot machine with 25 USD and DGH pushed me away from the casino when I was winning 57 USD! A nice win!

I LOVE  CASINOS!

Did you go to pool at Atlantis? I thought the only way to do that was to have a room booked at either there or Comfort Suites?

I love to read your trip report, (you're such a good story teller) The pictures are great, can't wait until the next report. Thanks!

We JUST COULD SEE their pool! we weren't allowed to swim in it ;) because - you are right !!! - we had no room at Atlantis or at the other nearby hotel !!!

Anyhow we all had a great time !!!

Laura

After a couple of refreshing hours at Atlantis we were ready to continue our Nassau discovery self guided tour.
The original plan was to head to Fort Fincastle, Queen Staircase, Pirate Museum, Straw Market … and then some shopping in Bay Street (before going back to the ship).
But it was hot („VERY HOT“ DGH grumped again !)

Atlantis was wonderful:

And we were deliciously cool !!! :)
So we were wondering whether to continue our tour or to withdraw.

The weather helped us in the decision: a tremendous thunderstorm started when we were leaving Atlantis, so we decided to go back to the ship and relax … the day was still long!

In the mean time DISers were popping up here and there … our Italian accent facilitated quite a lot to be detected !!!!!!!!!…
f25b5ddb.jpg

and also DGH grump-t-shirts were identifying him quite well ! :rotfl: :rotfl:

We met a couple of times Nina (lzj21428, she recognized our Italian accent); while in Castaway we were approached by Luckybug and his wife; DGH detected Bode and DD Isabel, while she was interviewed as Golden Mickeys special guest. Beckie made a special investigation to dig out another DISer who was staying in a secret porthole room … and we have been even approached by somebody … who never wrote on the boards, but who knew our “group” very well, having read the whole thread !!!! :bounce:

Monday evening was quite busy: while I went hear-dressing, Beckie and Terry were pampered with “ relaxing treatments” at the SPA and DGH grumped “by himself” at the Golden Mickeys show !!!

Then we dressed up for our semi-formal night:

It was Triton night:

DGH is very proud of his tie … it’s filled with LOTS of Grumpy … can you imagine when he wear that tie at work? :rotfl:

Laura, I am so enjoying your trip report. It makes me feel that I'm reliving our whole cruise experience.

That thunderstorm in Nassau was something. We had finished up our shopping and we were back by the ship. We walked all the way to the end of the dock for some pictures when the loudest clap of thunder hit. Little Julie literally jumped out of her shoes!!!

Can't wait for part 10!!!
