But just figured I would give this thread a Bump!

Hope everyone is well - I am going to try to catch up on things here

Hi guys. Glad to see this thread is still going strong. Thought I'd post my latest update.

My husband was released from jail (on bail) mid-August. Not quite sure what that judge was thinking, but oh well. Anyway, I just couldn't imagine being in the same small rural area with him. Talked to the kids, who were absolutely panicked, and made a major life decision to move to Florida. I drove the kids down to my moms (SW FL), and worked with my office to eventually end up with a station transfer to MacDill AFB in Tampa. I can't say how wonderful my bosses have been at working through this with me. I moved the kids the middle of August, and finally got transferred the first of October. During the between time, I was mostly on travel, and was able to spend the majority of weekends with the kids. When I was back in MD, I was a bundle of nerves the entire time (stayed with friends, and pretty much only went from the house to work, where he was barred by armed guards and fences). I actually did see my husband in traffic one day, and that just confirmed my decision to move, since it hit me like a ton of bricks.

Since his release, my husband has continued to spiral downward. Multiple problems with the police, financial difficulties, confrontation problems etc. I just don't see any of this going away for him, because "none of this is his fault, and it's all a misunderstanding". Just more reason why I'm glad to be 1000 miles away.

Anyway, the first thing the kids said when I mentioned Florida was "Cool, we can go to Disney all the time, right?" So let me know of any DIS meets, and maybe I can drop in!

Hopefully, I'm done with the major crisis mode for a long time. I've been blessed to have the resources and support to enable me to move and maintain a normal life for my kids. At the latest, my divorce will be final in July, but we're petitioning the court for an immediate divorce given the extreme circumstances. Husband's court date for the major felony charges is in February, and so far they haven't said that I have to testify. I truly don't want to go through it all over again.

Anyway, that's the scoop. I might drop by chat tonight. I'm going to a showing of the new Left Behind movie, but it should be over by 9. And my mom and her friend are staying at my house since they evacuated due to Wilma! Life just keeps moving on, doesn't it??

Mary, yep we know about the member cruise. We are cruising 12/9/06 with a bunch of family so will have to see how the $$ is for a second trip to FL so close. Would be fun though. We had such a good time on the first Member Cruise.

Lisa lots of pixie dust and prayers. Soon the nightmare should be over and, hey you now are in Florida! We have found that really good things have come out of the darkest times in our life. We will be at WDW (OKW) evening of Dec 6-Dec 9. Sailing again on Dec 10.

Will definately be trying to get onto the 2006 DVC Member Cruise.... and then whatever special itinerary DCL comes up with for Summer 07. In the meantime we're Wilma Watching at the moment.

Lisa..so glad to hear you are safe and sound here in FL now. We are at the MouseHouse at least once a month.... we will have to get together one of these times. Next trip November 17-22. Joe has to go to Ocala to recert for fire. Oh joy....LOL

You definitely are the "Good" Lisa! Great big hugs and pixie dust to you and the kids. Congratulations on making such a brave move.
How nice it will be for you to be closer to WDW, your parents, and anyone of us who come that way for a DIS meet!!
Thank you for letting us know how you are doing. It probably isn't the easiest thing to talk about, but we care and are always concerned.
This just reinforces what most of us have said all along....we had THE greatest group on that 10 night cruise....friendships that will last a lifetime.

Hey all.....remember the ornament exchange and the coveted Moose "ornament" that KT ended up with???

Well, I opened my Colorful Images catalog today and found this:

You can get it personalized with whatever you want....like Key West, St. Lucia...etc!! The only troubles I see is that there is a limit of 10 characters on the ornaments...Castaway Cay is more than that...and the banner in front of him has a limit of 12 characters....and "Dis Holiday Cruisers" is too long. You'll have to be creative...

Safe wishes for Joe!

It is a brave job - fighting fires - when I was 17 - I was trapped in a fire and rescued by the Fireman - I have so Much RESPECT for these men and women! Fires and the smoke are so scary - this was a house that I grew up in - my whole life - my aunt, grandmother and I were trying to get out of the back of the house and we got lost! This was a house that I could walk around blindfolded - but the smoke does something to your mind - even crawlling along the floor we could not get our barings - Our angels - the firemen came in and found us in the kitchen and took us out - we were passed out...........................

It is something I will never forget.
