Hi Gus! You need to do the 11 night as Adults Only! It's going to be fun!!

Harder for you to get away with that, though....your kids are younger than ours.

Sounds like you've had a fun and busy summer. Everyone did, I think. It did go fast.

Our kids are back in school and I have been trying to enjoy a little quiet time either before or after work. Nice...

Hi Gus - nice to see you again! Do you really want to do the 11 day? 3 of the 10 day ladies are going solo - I think it is going to be a wild cruise! :)

Stacey, Vicki, & Diana - LYMI!

Love You Mean It! It comes from Dells Wife's trip report. In the context used I was picking on you guys but still letting you know I cared about you!

Mary, I understand you are going on the member cruise next week. I have very good friends that will be cruising as well. I hope you all have a 'wonder'ful trip and smooth seas.

Hi Barb - are they DIS'ers? We have a pretty large DIS group. Mark made over 205 buttons. Thanks for the well wishes.

Didn't you just do a west coast cruise? How was it?

Mary, they registered on DIS but they don't visit very often if at all. I've tried to tell them they can find a wealth of info on here but they rely on me to pass it along to them.

We had a great west coast cruise earlier this month, thanks for asking. We had a nice, small bunch of DIS'ers, most of which are from the west coast. We are trying to keep our thread going, only 5 or 6 of us are still posting. We stayed in CA for a week after the cruise and went to D'land and then travelled up north and to Lake Tahoe. It was a lot of fun.

GOOD NIGHT ALL

Posted this on our Double Scoop thread - just trying to let all know what's going on.

Good morning all..... Hope that the DVC cruisers have a safe trip to the port and a wonderful time...

I was at our local airport until 2am last night - we received 3 planeloads of evacuees. I can't put in words how I felt - these people got off the plane with little besides the clothes on their back. They definitely had the "thousand mile" stare (despair, no hope, etc.) They had flown 3-4 hours on a C-130 (4 engine military propeller plane). Most were in good health - we transported 2 to my ER. One was a grandmother with her 13 year old grandson. The hospital has adopted the grandson - very well spoken, wants to be a pediatrician. I know that it is culture shock - as all of the evacuees are african american - and nearly all of the medical teams, etc. are white (I think that the african american population in WV is around 3%). In the end though, we are all American. At times - we all had to laugh at the differences in our "Southern" language - we had to ask each other to repeat things on occasion. Throw a few Northerners (like me) into the mix and it was quite interesting. They are being taken to Camp Dawson which is in the Northern part of WV - in the mountains - beautiful country, but a million miles away from New Orleans.

I spoke to one man - he said he had never been out of Louisiana, said he always wanted to visit other places, including WV, just never like this. Children coming off the plane received a back pack full of toys, coloring books, etc. They brightened up immediately - ahhh the resilience of children.

If you haven't donated to the Red Cross - or the relief organization of your choice - do so now. There are many needs that need met - and it will be months before what we consider any sort of normalcy will return to the lives of our fellow Americans.

Virgil

Virgil,
God bless all of you who are in direct contact with those poor people. I cry for them on a daily basis and say my prayers every night for help to come to them. The medical field is an unique group of individuals who have the beautiful gift of caring so well for others.
I do hope all is well with every one of you all.
Denise

Good job Virgil! I know it must be hard work but on the other hand very satisfying for you.
