Officially going to bed now. Will probably read for all of 5 minutes before I zonk out. But I may end up here early in the morning, like the Scuba's.

One morning in Curacao, I woke up before the sun and went out onto the deck and watched a cruise ship sail past, on its way to port. It was so cool to see the lights on the ship, against the background of the dark ocean. We hadn't taken a cruise yet. We went on DCL about 5 months after that.

Night!!

Since we have so many new people joining us I thought it would be good to recap some of the basics:

:cheer2: DIS meet will be Saturday 12/18 at 3-pm, deck 10 mid-ship (above the Goofy pool) on the same side as the port (not to be confused with the port side).

:cheer2: If you got your button order in before the cut-off you can pick up your buttons at the port (if you see me or I see you) or at the DIS meet (see above). There is a VERY LIMITED number of blanks available on a first come first served basis.

:cheer2: If you got your order in before the cut-off your mini-navigator can be picked up from us at the port or we will leave it on your message fish outside your room (look for it). Again there will be a LIMITED number of extras available on a first come first served basis.

:cheer2: DIS group photo will be Monday 12/20 at 4:15 pm in the atrium. This is for all family members - let's make this the biggest and best group photo DCL or the DIS has ever seen (bring your carafes) :D

:drinking1 Thanks to Stacey the DIS wine and cheese party will be held at Sessions on Monday 12/20 at 4:30 - 6:00 pm. Adults only. If you are a wine drinker bring a bottle from your region to share with your fellow DIS'ers. Non-drinkers also welcome (Mark and I don't drink).

I'll let ohiominnie update everyone on the ornament exchange!

There are two competing wireless methods, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. But they really arn't competing any longer. Bluetooth is being turned more and more to inside an office use and Wi-Fi is the solid popular choice for internet in places that have 'hotspots'.

That handheld has Bluetooth. But you can add Wi-Fi to ANY handheld for a minimal cost. However, it will eat the battery life of the little device too. It's not all that easy.

Also any handheld's ability ot truly 'connect' like reading here is very limited. Most have limited browsing and email and some times instant messaging.
So, I should just wait until the technology gets better??

So after Mass tonight Mark and I went to dinner and then out to view some neighborhood lights. Well over dinner we were talking about the cruise (what else). I was warning him not to say anything about Stacey's other cruises - he asked which other cruises and when I mentioned the 2006 one that many of you were looking at going on his eyes lit up.

So I thought 2006 was out, but the prospect of sailing with friends is pulling us in. Details please on date and ports. We may just be joining you!

Yea!!! Diana has all of the details, but I know it is at the end of May 2006. It's a seven day modified western with 2 stops at Castaway Cay. I sure hope you will be able to join us. Right now I think it's Diana's Family, Karen's Family, Stacy's Family and us. If you join us that'll be 5 cabins and hopefully once the cruise gets going we will get some others to join us. :grouphug:

That's what I'd recommend, as that's what I'm doing. I currently own a device called a Handheld pc, the only place currently still making one is Toshiba, but mine's a HP. You could think of it as a quarter scale notebook, has a full keyboard and everything. It can fully browse. But only at 640x200. And it doesn't do WiFi. Mary has a Pocket Pc(like the Dell) and it really can't do any kind of real webbrowsing without serious help. But they'll get there with them soon enough.

We just got back from dinner with some friends at The Garlic in New Smyrna Beach.

We vacation every summer in NSB. Great family oriented town with great beaches and restraunts. Our favorites are Sea Harvest and Dixie Cross Roads in Titusville. Rockshrimp Broiled and dipped in butter is a must!

We go to JB's Fish Camp for the Rockshrimp Broiled and dipped in butter - YUM!!! It's closer and has just as good food.

Yes, tonight on the way to our friend's house I was talking rebook and mentioned the 5/06 cruise. Mike was all for it. He's really starting to think that this cruise will be fun. :) Gee, only took him 18 months! HA!

Mary and I share a TOP

We're newbies here. Was invited over here by WDWLVR. Can I get some info on the decorations exchange party?

Must make this quick b/c must tuck the kids in bed and I'm heading there too....

Ornament exchange is going to be Wednesday 12/22....St. Maarten night. 4:45 p.m. in the Promenade Lounge, deck 3. It will be the kind where one person picks, then the second person can steal it or pick a new one (hence we're doing it on pirate night)

Anyway, the rule for the ornament is: either something that represents you, your area of the country, Disney, homemade OR any old ornament you can find in the limited amount of time left!! ;) one per family, one per person, whatever you wanna bring!!!

Glad you found the thread and will party with us!!

off to bed for me. tomorrow is crazy...church, plays, laundry and packing...

and SURVIVOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And then I get a PM from GarRy asking me if I'm joining him for breakfast. THAT was out of the blue! Unfortunately I can't make it! :(

Nite all!!!

JB's Fish Camp...you need to try their Rockshrimp.

This is Scuba Diver. I posted this and didn't realize that Scuba.Mom already had. Scary...

Yes Mary, you are correct. The lime green thong is no longer in the box. Sharon looks pretty hot in it.

Depends on the airline. American is 50 and I think we are just there with our one bag (bathroom scale actually says 51 but I'm hoping the lightness of the other bags will compensate).
:wizard: Back from the holiday party....
Gotta story on this one
Sorry to say American SUCKS with this policy. I was 3 pounds over my last trip with them and they were going to charge me $70!!! My other bag was only about 20 pounds but they didn't care! After arguing with them for a few minutes... I said "give me a valet box" I opened the overweight suitcase right there on the floor at the check in and dumped a few armloads into the valet box. Shut the suitcase and said THERE.. weigh it now... and thank you for letting me air out my dirty laundry in the airport!!!

If you guys are going to go on that cruise, you need to write down the date! It's May 27, 2006, modified Western. Stops in Castaway Cay, Cozumel, Costa Maya, and then Castaway Cay again. Good rates on this one because it's not considered high season, and there are less port charges to pay. I think if we book on the cruise on the ship we get an onboard credit plus a discount. Then you can transfer it to a TA for an additional discount. If we use the same TA and have eight (?) cabins, we can become a "group" and qualify for an additional onboard credit plus early reservation privileges for Palo etc. If I'm wrong about any of this, someone please correct me!

We are taking the kids with us too so any of you that have teenagers, I have a 14 year old girl and a 16 year old boy.
Welcome 3timecruiser!! Come join the lunacy!! I think I'm talking to myself tonight... or is it just all the wine from the holiday party??? Are the rest of you out there preparing and packing?? hopefully I'll do better under pressure later in the week.....

Currently watching Dodge Ball, kinda funny.

Hate to ask on the main cruise board so I will ask here first. I read that they are now offering bottled water to be purchased onboard. Does anyone know if it happens to be available to concierge guests? I know that it is at the resorts. Or on our last cruise we saw many people checking a case that was delivered to their room. Do they still allow this? We are very big water drinkers. Trying to maybe cut out our stop from hotel to port.

Tina, we watched Dodgeball tonight too. What a strange movie.

The water at the beverage stations is filtered. We took a couple of water bottles last time, and would go up to the station a couple of times a day and fill it with ice and water. DD is very picky about her water not having a "taste" and she liked it. I think you will get the same water if you ask your steward to fill your pitcher a couple of times a day.

URGENT REQUEST FOR HELP!!!

No...don't call 911. Well, not until ohiomickey blows his lid over this door sign printing. That may come very soon.....

He's trying to print our signs and when it gets very near the end of the page, the paper stops gripping and it prints over and over on top of itself. If we try to "help" it along near the end, things get smudged and he's not happy with it. He knows everyone is going to be looking at our signs, so he will not accept anything less than perfect.

So...what's going on?? We tried two printers, the same thing happened with both. I tried pushing, pulling and even putting two magnetic papers back to back (thinking maybe the back was too slippery. But nothing is working.

WAAAA!!

Any advice? TIA
