Hello Disney Christmas Cruisers.
I was on board when this thread started and tried keeping up for a while but between moving last year and spending the summer away it has been difficult.

My name is Doug and my DW is Amy. We will be in 5522 and are looking forward to meeting everyone. I think there was someone on here who will be our porthole neighbors...5520 perhaps.

We have taken the magic twice before one to the East and one to the West. The last time was March 2003 with my mother. We have no children and have been married for 5 years. We have early dinner seating since we are just used to eating early. Trouble is the lunch buffet can be so satisfying and I am not all that hungry. Some people knock the foor on board but I can't imagine. It is so tasteful. The variety is awesome.

We got our documents on Friday from our TA and have been looking thrugh the m,aterial. Is anybody getting the tux? I haven't before on Disney but given the holiday I wanted to fit in if men were wearing tuxs.

We look forward to meeting up with evberyone at the deck party at 3pm. We will be staying Friday night at the Radisson Hotel after working that day. We live in Sarasota so will drive over then. It'll be nice not worrying about a plane to catch.

I will try keeping up wih the boards till our departure.

My DH and 3 strapping men are wearing suits with Disney ties that I purchased for them for Christmas. I wanted to spend money on other stuff instead of renting tuxes for them. Either way, you'll fit in. We are are early seating too.

ds just got a digital camera for Christmas. he's the real photographer in the family.

now i'm thinking we'll need one of those photo printers. which one do you have? you really like it?

I just had 20 pictures printed and sent from AOL "you've got pictures." I could have printed them here!!!

We have the HP Photo Printer, the nicer one, and we can print out pictures up to 8 1/2 x 11 in size. Cartridges are #45 for Black and #78 for Color (see I print so many pictures I know the numbers by heart!) On our printer, you can either print from your computer, or you can put your disk from camera directly into printer and print from there. You can also print an index sheet to show every picture on that disk.

There are some great printers out there. I've been thinking about buying one of those portable tiny ones that will print just 4 x 6's and been looking at those. Seriously considering one before the cruise at Costco or Sam's Club.

Can you pick only the pics you want to print from that disk? I'd assume that you don't put the disk in and HAVE to print every picture on it.

I've read that the little Epson works well (PC Magazine recently said that the Epson was the best of the small printers) and the pictures end up costing about 29 cents each. I've seen sales at Office Depot and Office Max for these printers. They cost $199, but you get two gift cards - one for $40 and one for $50. You might want to look at those sale adds.

I also have been looking at the little printers, but I haven't made the purchase yet.

I really like digital b/c you can delete bad pics, edit them, and store them on CD's. I have, literally, boxes and boxes of pictures in my basement that I never go through. I'd like to have some pictures around the house in frames, but I'd like to be very selective about what gets printed. I cannot throw out pictures, so if everything gets printed, everything will stay in a box in my basement!

But would like the option of printing out *some*....esp if KT starts scrapbooking.

Mine are under the bed!!! I started a project a couple of years ago going through and the packages, dating them and listing events and tagging them (going to do a scrapbook for each girl of their school years). Maybe that will be their senior gift!!! I keep them upstairs so there is no danger of water damage....last year when were under a tornado warning the girls were all upset--- I told them not to worry --- if I thought we were in any danger I would be dragging all those pics to the basement --- so until they see me hauling them downstairs never worry!!!

I just bought a new printer last week. Still haven't taken it out of the box and hooked it up. It's the HP 2610xi Photosmart. It is an all-in-one, printer, scanner, fax, copier. Hoping to get it set up tomorrow so I can print door sign and thanks you cards.

Scrapbooking is a lot of fun...I do it all the time...(im 13, going on 14 on the cruise!)

i started out after i read some magazines......those give you good ideas....especiall the MEMORY MAKERS one....my mom(realtorlady) and me subsribe to most of the scrapbook magazines out there....trust me, once you get started, YOU CANT STOP!!! lol its true! i'm very picky about my pictures too, and also about the page layout...some people tell me that my pages are better than some adult's pages and im only 13! ....i havent did any disney trips b/c when we got our film devolped(all 6-8 rolls, i think) none of them turned out! NONE! this was really bad for us since we are big scrapbookers and had no pictures...but luckily we had the digital camera, but that didnt have nearly as many as our regular film camera had...

Do you also knit? My DD is begging me to learn. We bought some needles etc but I really cant figure it out from the pictures....

Jeri, I can knit and crochet too. If you want, I can teach the two of you on the cruise. I don't do scrapbooking. Too many little pieces for me! And confession time. I'm another one with pictures in shoe boxes. My digital ones are pretty well mixed up too. Maybe someday we'll get a laptop, and I'll sort photos when I'm sitting in a boring meeting? Everyone will think I'm working hard!

Anyway, I agree that learning yarn type crafts is really hard if you don't see the person doing it. My aunt taught me to crochet, and my grandma tried teaching me to knit. I eventually figured it out on my own, but it took a lot of time.

I used to crochet some. Mostly squares but also I remember crocheting stockings for each child in my mom's kindergarten class(es). She'd give them out as Christmas gifts. Sometimes (when she had split classes) that meant up to 50 or 60 stockings!!

Now it's cross stitch. If it wasn't for the DIS I'd do a lot more of it. You guys may just inspire me to bring along my XS. Do we need to have a "craft time" on the cruise? Maybe a sea day? Bring your knitting, your cross stitch, your scrapbooking, whatever your craft is!!

I've always wanted to learn XS --- it looks really hard though, and then I turned 40 and couldn't see well enough to count!!! Maybe you can show me how since I can see now!

i have to crochet a 7 by 9 in. rectangle for a service project and its very confussing.....everytime i try to start the next row, the rectangle seems to be shriking...do you know what im doing wrong? i'm counting my stiches and they are the same everytime...so i dont think im missing stiches.....Im so confussed, im just about to give up!

Lisa (TDK not Stacey's) I also attend the knitting class. I would love to be able to knit some of the really neat scarves that I see around here. I used to do it (when I worked nights) but haven't in so long I cannot remember how.

Are you pulling too tightly? You have to have a pretty loose grip on everything. Very relaxed. If it's taut the rows will get smaller and smaller.
