Thanks Garry, glad everything is well. Better she recover at the hospital than pass out on the way home!

Hi gaRry,

Tracey had that done 2yrs ago and almost instantly when home felt much better. After about 2 weeks she felt like her old self again so I am sure that Vicki will be great by the time the cruise comes.

Take care all,
Phil

How is everyone else transporting their wine?

Well, we have the "mule". :smooth:

But here's how we pack it: we wrap each bottle in big bubble wrap, then put it inside a 2 gallon zip loc bag. The zip locs actually come in handy for the trip home! We have a padded backpack that holds six bottles nicely, and we carry it on. Another option would be a rolling carry on, but you'd have to be able to lift it into the overhead. I don't think I would risk checking it, unless you have a hard side and pack very well, with above precautions. And in that case, you'd better check weight. It's a hassle, yes.

hobbits eat about 7 meals...breakfast, second breakfast, elevensies, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner and supper...i have seen the movies countless times and just recently read the books again for the second time....they are one of my favorites (both movie and book wise)

So, that's what my children are. I've always wondered how they can eat so much and remain so thin - they're hobbits.

They used to be separate airlines just like Delta has song and United has Ted but now that Air Canada is out of bankruptcy they did away with those airlines and just made them a part of the fare structure. They are cheaper tickets but have some restrictions that other fares don't, ie. no cancelation and a fee if you want to change date or time

Phil

ps I know this because I work for Air Canada

Never heard of Ted either. Gosh, I better quit flying Delta all the time!!!!

We have been working on our packing and I think we are down to 3 duffles on wheels and a garment bag. DM will have her carryon with meds and her book on tape w/ player. My carryon will be heavy cause I will have the wine. Do you think I can put it in my checked luggage?

How is everyone else transporting their wine?

I think the only "whine" I am bringing are our four grandchildren 5, 4, 2 and 22 months!!!! :D

I'm happy to hear Vicki is doing well --- let her get her rest so she can be fully recovered by cruise time!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

That means you need to wait on her!!!!!

GaRry-glad to hear Vicki is out and doing well.

Two weeks-just in time to :rockband: and :rockband:

Never thought of my backpack. I only use that for biking, until now. I wanted to keep the weight down since we have to change planes in Charlotte. DM can only hold so much

I was watching the Today show on NBC - and who was on it, but Jimmy Buffett... singing "Christmas in the Caribbean" Somehow I think that will most definitely be our theme song and appear as background music at the wine party.....

Be back later!

Jim has a CD with that song on it. He's looking for the CD right now so we can play it at home as we get ready for the cruise.

Tech question..............

So, when I am trying to catch up on all the posts everyday, if I reply to a message it always takes me to the last message posted..............

Is there a way to go back to where I was reading without going to the last message posted and then hitting the page number I was on (since I don't always remember what page I was reading?) I think that has something to do with old age.........

I just click the back button until I get to the page I was on.

Excellent News Gary!!

About the wine, I don't think I'd pack anything glass in checked airline baggage. Even in ziplock bags. All you need is one piece of broken glass to give whatever else is in the bag a wine bath. And if it's clothes, a set wine stain can be difficult.

I have put wine in our checked bags, but remember we are local so they don't go through an airport. They are dropped off at the curb for the porters. I always wrap the bottles in bubble wrap and put in the soft stuff. I've never had a problem, but no guarantees.

I prefer to carry it all on in our back packs, but DD can only carry so much weight. This year it's to early to tell because we have lots of wine and champaign going on.

GaRry - thanks for the great news on Vicki! So glad to hear everythign went well!

Rest up Vicki! Hopefully the family will be waiting on you hand and foot to get you better before the cruise starts!
