The keynote speaker at my St. Louis conference was Dr. Robert Webster , who said, among many other interesting things, that those who plan on taking a cruise during flu season should talk to their physician about the FluMist vaccine or a prescription for TamiFlu to take onboard with you.
FluMist is only indicated for those 5-49 years old with no reactive airway disease (asthma). I thought I'd pass it along.
I talked to our GP and we got the FluMist on Monday (it goes up your nose and drips to your throat, it's disgusting). They warn you that you may experience mild flu-like symptoms for a couple of days (it's a live vaccine). My DH was fine, but I spent yesterday being completely miserable...luckily it only lasted 1 day.
Just FYI.
