Good Morning/Afternoon!

Well, now....guess those pills did some good. I wouldn't have gotten up until well after noon if the dog hadn't been barking her fool head off!
Still sore, but nothing at all like yesterday. I have a couple of things to do, but nothing strenuous.....great excuse to do nothing!

Lorraine...when my daughter lived in England it took about 9 days for us to get mail back and forth. And our little town here is VERY slow with the mail. So I think 9 days is a safe amount of time.

Mary, sending a PM to confirm our FINAL room number, although I know by now, everyone knows where to find me!!! (Just follow the bouncing ball! )

Guess I'd better at least go get dressed

Tomorrow we will be able to say we are cruising NEXT MONTH!

What better way to put off doing "real work" than to make homemade bread. Threw in a load of laundry and now my bread is going through it's first proof. It's a recipe from a Disney cookbook and it is AWESOME if I do say so myself. It makes two loaves, which tend to go bad quickly b/c no preservatives, so I think I'll take a loaf to the new neighbors at the far end of the street.

Virgil, you'll appreciate this....the mortgage company hired someone to mow across the street. They also put tarps over the pool and did SOMETHING in the basement that required big respirator masks!! At the lumber store, I bumped into one of the ppl doing the work and she told me the mortage company hired them to get the house into "sell condition." WOO HOO!!!

We cruise in 7 weeks. 7 weeks ago was the Columbus Children's Hospital Alumni Reunion and it was also the Sheriff sale for the aforementioned house across the street. Seems like yesterday!

Worth His Salt

In every language, culture and religion, salt is the most important element that drives the life force. Mankind seems to have discovered this substance early enough to base all his cultural development on it. Its effect on human system and lives is self- explanatory… for no one can live without salt.
The Japanese diet is the best example of this. Japanese food is very salt rich, largely due to the consumption of sea products in their traditional cuisine. So, though, as a nation they have a very low rate of cancer, they suffer from a very high rate of stomach cancer because of salt irritation in the stomach.

In olden, pre-refrigeration days, it was one of the best preservatives known to man, and that is he reason why most traditional foods have far too much salt, than what our body needs. Today, even though we are looking at ways to reduce salt consumption in our diet (CUT those wafers), salt still does ground the dishes we relish, and also ensures we have energy as well as strength.

The salt we normally use is ‘manufactured’ from seawater, and hence is actually sea salt. Then there is rock salt or black salt, which is better for the digestion as well as has better flavor. Kosher salt is closer to rock salt; indeed, the kosher salt sold in supermarkets can actually be used as a substitute to rock salt.

On a more general scale, salt seems to be having the power to aggravate fire wherever it goes…starting religions, religious diktats and even cuisine systems, the best example of which is the kosher cuisine system of the Jews.

In other parts of the world that have seen ancient civilizations, cultures and cuisine too, salt has played an extremely important role. The best example for this would be the fact that the words, 'war' and 'peace' originate from the word for salt & bread in Ancient Hebrew and Arabic. We can safely believe that mankind’s first full fledged squabble of any consequence (OK, lets call it war), originated over control of salt or slat supplies!!!!

I must say, the last few Halloweens have been fun. DD insisted on getting some decorations out, and then she would dress up to hand out candy. We would ooh and aah over all the little kids that came to our door (not that many). Well, tonight she is going trick or treating with friends, and then having a sleepover at a friend's house, and DH said we should just stay back in the bedroom and watch TV. Trying to look like we aren't home.

7 weeks ago we made the decision not to go to Hershey based on the weather Sad, but as Karen points out it doesn't seem that long ago.

Besides, if you don't answer the door, some little goblin may decide to "egg" your house!!

We don't have any neighbors. No trick or treaters here.....so we go to our friend's house. Their whole neighborhood decorates like crazy, and have several haunted houses, and several stops for the grown-ups, too. Chili, hot chocolate......mmmmmm!

So, Jared will be wearing his "This is my costume" sweatshirt. (He'll be sorry when he sees all the other kids in their costumes)
Jordan will be wearing her Renaissance dress (yes, I relented because our "extra" daughter is coming with us, and she has a costume)
I don't know what Lexi is wearing. The other DD. I'm afraid to ask.

Now I really am signing out to go get something done. Don't know what yet, but something.

I guess I could start by getting dressed.......yep, still sitting here in my jammies. It's only 12:30!

Yeah, probably best to leave them off. Although they will have their buttons so they'll be identifiable when out and about.
