Charlotte, I sent you a pm, but I don't know if it went, since it's not in my sent folder. Let me know if you didn't get it.

I just got off the phone with MIL. The good news is that FIL is recovering relatively well, and they think they can continue adjusting the pacemaker to prevent the problems from requiring defibrillation as often.

But the bad news is that the doctor says that he isn't comfortable that 60 days is enough time to get everything adjusted. He thinks it's not a good idea to have him go on the cruise. So they aren't going with us. I'll talk to DH tonight, but I think we'll still go, just cancel their cabin. We may use the tickets we bought for them to fly home at Thanksgiving and visit with them.

Thanks for all the prayers, and I'm just sorry that none of you will be able to meet my in-laws since I think they're pretty special people!

Therese--We also are staying at the Radisson on the 17th. It will be our first time there.

Linda--sounds good about getting the girls together. Mine is a bit shy(just like me)

Is anyone else driving down?

Judy

Lisa - sorry to hear about your in-laws not going - I do hope that you and DH will still go.... I am kinda surprised about the doc not wanting to OK a trip 60 days in the future.....

I'm so bummed! I faxed a request for a dolphin swim adventure directly through the company(it was only around $136 a person), and after sending a second fax and three phone calls this week, they told me it was all sold out (disney bought up the spaces) and I had to book through DCL if I wanted it ($179 a person). I was hoping to surprise the kids. Oh well, guess we won"t be swimming with the dolphins. Next cruise....

Happy Friday Everyone!!

Well I see while I was at work you guys were very busy. Lots of reading to catch up.

Lisa- so sorry to hear about your FIL. I certainly hope you and your family still decide to go.

It just turned dark and rainy here. Looks like a lousy weekend. Good thing I am going to Florida next week. Can't wait!

Anyone ever rented a car on St Marteen? Just curious about price and availability. We did a DCL excursion there last time and thought we would explore on our own a little.

Tina, we haven't rented a car on St. Martin before, but we are planning to this time. Gail assured me that it's easy, you just get off the ship and head to the rental places nearby. She said if you reserve in advance, you will pay a lot more.

Angie, you ARE on the Geezer thread. I think a lot of us are older parents. Me for one, late start. Yes, I know there are a few young 'uns. And some are just juvenile.

Hey gang - I just paid our cruise balance in full! I am sooo happy -- now it's a reality! Wow, that was a lot of money! I can't believe what I have done!

Hi all

Busy day at the Hospital EVERYONE always wants to have their babies on the same day. Sure am glad I'm off this weekend.

I'll try to catch up on all the posts I missed today while working when I return from the game

Have a great evening and those traveling have a safe trip!

Vicki

Gail - I got your PM and sent you another one.

Virgil - sent you a PM

Lisa - sorry to hear that the in-laws won't be making the trip but sure do hope you and DH will still be able to go.

I have a question for you all -- are most of you doing Disney shore excursions or going out on your own. I know my DH wants to ride Jet Skis in Key West --- is there a place nearby the port where we can rent them and do we need reservations?

Patty - like scuba diver said Island Watersports is right at the pier. We used them in April for the tour and had a blast. Here is the link for them http://www.island-watersports.com/ We were planning to just rent jet skis from them when we go in Dec but we are not sure now if we want to do that or just have free time in Key West. And like Charlotte said, DH is booking his golf excursion through DCL. He is going to rent clubs, but take his own golf shoes.

Off to get ready for the hockey game. Everyone have a great evening.

Gus - click here for the maps from Dave's DCL Tribute site. It shows ABC fine wines and spirits not far from the Avis and Hertz locations. Also not far from Shirley's the Perfect Gift. Hope this helps.

Thanks Mary.....it just so happens our hotel is on that map as well.

I believe we will be dropping in there.

Angie, you gave me the best laugh I've had in a looong time...

Bounce bounce, pirate......

YOU are not old....I'm 46, and my DH is 54.....we just had our kids way too late.....not by choice. Jay's dad passed away at 82 this year.....

If you guys are looking at DCL's excursions for St Thomas/St John....we are doing the Captain Nautica's St John Snorkel Excursion. I think the noon one...yes...noon. Because we have to go to the customs thing, and then I wanted to have our little Christmas gift opening....
But I picked Capt Nautica, because it's a faster boat...not as much time wasted getting to and from.

I have talked on the phone to a gal in St Thomas twice this week, and YES....they have definite traditions that day....and for most, working is not one of those traditions. Those who do work charge twice the regular price. Go with the Disney thing!

Stacey......what is this customs thing?

I know probably a silly question.

Just an FYI for anyone with children in the Club or Lab. On Castaway Cay day, the kids can be a part of a show in the main theater. They are all given T-Shirts that say "Remember the Magic" and Disney shows a slide show of the kids through out the time they were on the ship. It is fun to see what your child was doing all that time they were away from you. We missed this event the first time we sailed because I didn't know what it was. Lisa has enjoyed participating in this event since then (Matt is too old.)

Great........ my DD loves to ham it up.
She will sing at a drop of a dime for anyone. The more people there, the better.
If there is a talent show, I'm sure she will want to participate.

Good afternoon everyone!

It's getting cloudy and overcast here, looks like rain any minute. Was hoping for some :sunny: this weekend.

Lots to read and catch up on today! On Monday, it's just two months 'til sail away! Wow.....it's coming up fast! :boat:

Gail - Got your email.....will send one soon.

Patty - My DH is using DCL for golf.........easier. Taking his own golf shoes, but renting clubs (like other DH's have decided). So, you might get that extra bag back for yourself afterall!

Linda - Sending you a pm.

Angie - LOL at the "bounce, bounce, pirate, smile" post, too! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Anyone else have a DS that's in the 5-6 yr. old group? Our youngest is 5 1/2 and would dearly love a cruise buddy! (No online posting groups for them, though!)

Charlotte......our DS is 6.

Great news

Fearles FireFighter -- not silly at all. Because we're sailing out of the US (St. Maarten, Antigua) and coming back into US territory (St. Thomas) we have to clear immigration, same as if you are entering the mainland US. The bummer is that it happens around 6:30AM or so (at least it did on my previous DCL cruises). No one gets off the ship until everyone clears immigration, I think, which is why they start so early. So don't forget your passport -- you're Canadian, right?

I didn't mean to answer in your place...I had a pirate: moment.
