I haven't read the thread, but I imagine it's like the Barbara and Jenna Bush speech at the Republican National Convention. I had NO idea what they were talking about!!! Mike tried to reassure me that probably most 15-22 yr old's DID know.

Update on my aunt and uncle....

My mom went to the hospital yesterday so I got the story from a sane, rational person, not my aunt who tends to have a gloomy outlook about everything and tends to sensationalize (sp?) everything.

My uncle is conscious, has been conscious. Maybe was a little confused at first, but never lost consciousness. He LOOKS good, only one visible scratch on his arm, and his shattered leg which is very painful. He's been to surgery to have a rod inserted into his femur.

My aunt was "quiet and still with a lot of tubes hanging out of her." But apparently she's very stable. The neurosurgeon said that she has a very good chance (b/c she's young and healthy) of making an almost complete recovery. Said she may have some memory loss and have some deficiencies she'll have to work hard to overcome.

Thought I would give you all a chuckle this morning with a trip down memory lane. Someone on the community board was asking if anyone had pictures from their first time at Disney.


Here's two pictures from my first time in 1976. Lots of great memories from that trip. For those that don't know Treasure Island is what Discovery Island used to be called.

Yup, cool pictures! I'm sure my parents have some of me when I went in the mid-70's. I've got some of Mike and I when we went in '90. Wonder if I can scan those in.

99 days???? OH MAN, back to the diet! Either that or I'd better go shopping for bigger clothes!

Good Wednesday Morning Everyone!

Mary - great newsletter again. I read it through your link and then tried to pull it up on my own and it came up this time. I refreshed and did everything I could think of yesterday so I don't know what was wrong but thanks for the help.

ohiominnie - glad to hear that your aunt and uncle are doing better.

Diana & Stacey - I know what you mean about the rooms. we are in the same boat. Britt wants her room painted and I keep telling her when it is clean, I will think about it. No offense to the Floridians but her room looks like a hurricane(or in the midwest a tornado) hit it.

Linda - I did not even recognize Lake Mead when we flew over it this summer. Talking about sinking your boat, we did just that with my uncle's boat on LM when I was in high school. We headed out across the lake to a beach spot we liked and the wind kicked up(you know how bad the wind gets on those lakes) and not thinking we pulled the boat into shore with the bow forward. After a few minutes we noticed the waves were breaking over the back end and the next thing we know, it was full of water. We had to spend the night on the beach till the next morning so we could get a tow back across the lake. That was a learning experience.

I was just talking to my contact at inventory control and I asked her if they had any information on CC. She said the only thing they have been told was that the damage was not as bad as expected. The Wonder left port yesterday with the CMs from CC and was on a mission to assess the damage and start repairs. They have not heard if the the Wonder was able to port or if she had to tender.

So, hopefully this is good news.

Not to brag or anything, but I posted about 9/9 about a week ago. Except I called it "Double Digit Day" and I don't think anyone knew what I was talking about.

Love the pics, Mary. You haven't changed! Don't remember the tiki gods though, I guess they've been through some iterations.

The Teen board isn't nearly as bad as you all were making it sound. It's mostly the girls, Matt wondered in for a bit. The girls really like to decorate their posts! And I got a chuckle out of this statement from my DD: "... it's bad, our world today."

Diana did bring up the double digits a while ago. But wouldn't it be on 9/10 - my countdown right now is showing 101.

Anyway as far as the teen thread - nothing at all bad - just don't understand what they are talking about . i have no idea who/what Switchfoot, Weezer, or Kingdom Hearts is.

I do find it funny that they are into the Beatles

I'm glad they are having a great time and getting to meet each other like we are. I was just feeling old and sorry for myself.

BTW - OM I was reading the thread about using the bushes at CC but stayed out of that one. I think I've riled up enough people over the last couple of days.

Thanks for the compliment Diana - actually I've put on a good 50+ pounds since those pictures.

The Tiki's are near the Tiki Room (imagine that). Not far from where Alladin is now. I think they have a splash zone in them now - not sure.

Mary- Great pictures. I have a few from 1979 when my High school band went to WDW. I haven't seen those in years.
Switchfootlover, would be my lovely teen DD. It is a band she is obsessed with at the current moment. They are a clean, christian based rock group, so I tolerate it.
Kingdom Hearts is a playstation game that is actually Disney based, so I tolerate that too.
I'm glad they have their own place to post!

Karen- good news about your Aunt & Uncle, will continue with our thoughts and prayers.

We have another rainy, drizzly day here. Can't get motivated to do too much. I probably should go hit the treadmill!

Hope the news about CC is true. Would hate to have to miss it in December. I am anxiously awaiting an update and keep checking the other threads to see if any news has come in.

I have tried to not post on some of the other threads cuz if they get me started, I won't stop!

I will have to check with my parents about DL pictures. I bet we have some from the 60's when we were kids.

I do remember Diana saying that about the dates.....I'm listening, Diana.

I have my countdown timer set for the time (in Florida) that I thought we would actually be boarding.

If the damage is not as bad at CC as it could have been, then things should definitely be back to normal by the time we cruise!

Hey, I thought the poster was SERIOUS! I was appalled that anyone would let their kids do that at CC! Oh well, guess I got blindsided on that one.
