Not much to say - just grabbing 9200 :D

Here is our 5 PM update from Daytona Beach, FL. It is still windy and raining. Looks like we have several hours to go. Still not much damage in our area. The main pier is gone and a lot of the beach is gone.

Just got up from our nap and still no power. It may be time for another nap. What else is there to do. I'm about done with my first book and thinking about the next book.

However, we all know that once the wind stops it is out to clean the yard. We have two small trees down which should not be much trouble. Just a fun excuss to use the Jeep to yank them out.

The real issue is still how to get the generator to run the AC. If anyone has generator knowledge PM me. I need to know how big of a generator.

The kids are heading outside again to play in the rain and wind. It's cheap entertainment. For tonight we will watch a DVD. We have enough charge in our portable for one movie.

This really is like camping in a tent for a rainy weekend. What fun!

hi
we are first time disney cruisers fromn england and we are doing the 10 day special from 18th december- not sure which room we will be but it will be an inside stateroom for family of 4- need to get to know how the dining rotation works - we share the table with another group right? may be u guys u never know( unlucky for you!)
any tips for first timers? we shall arrive by limo at 12pm ish before the coaches come- best to check in early
cheers
sudip bhaduri ( england)

Stacey - what you need to get is a router. This will share the DSL connection between your computers. If you get a wireless one - you can set anywhere on your laptop (like me) and surf the net and post.....

A pretty good one is the Linksys WR-54G. It allows both wireless and wired connections. PM me if you have questions or need help setting it up - this is what I bought DD to use at her house (until of course we moved her out over the lease)....

Scuba Diver - Glad to hear you're safe! Lot's of amps/watts being drawn by that AC. Take a pretty good size generator to run it......

Aragorn - WELCOME!!!! Be back later to help answer your questions....

scuba diver - It doesn't sound like you are suffering too much.

Like Virgil stated it will take a pretty good size generator to run an AC unit and most central units run on 220v.

Stay safe and thanks for the updates!

Paul

Aragorn - welcome. I received your e-mail and owe you a reply.

Any questions ask away as someone in this group is sure to know the answer!

Hi Sudip, and welcome to the board! Your dining rotation will be assigned when you check in at the port. Yes, you probably will share a table, depends on the size of your party.

Jim, Kevin can probably help with generator recommendations. Can you find one in your area? I heard they were pretty much sold out everywhere before the storm. Kevin is at the dance studio this afternoon, doing his HH schtick again. I left a little while ago, and Alicia was going to mop the bathroom at the studio, she thought it sounded like fun. I really tried to get her to come home and mop ours, but that didn't sound like fun.

aff, they are in Daytona Beach. I think that's about the upper end of the storm. If you watched the Weather Channel yesterday, they had a reporter in New Smyrna Beach, which is just south of Daytona. She kep saying "New Suh-myrna", is that how it's really pronounced?

Karen - time to change our title. The Magic is now on a 10 day cruise getting in Tuesday.

:D

Those on the Magic right now are really getting an extended vacation. I feel for those who have had their Wonder cruise cancelled and the Magic a shorter sailing.

Yep = Disney's first ever SCHEDULED 10 day cruise.....

Interesting that the Wonder is going to be empty for a couple of days.... Wonder if she'll sit in port the whole time.....

Looks like the Disney resort is on a modified schedule for tomorrow. Epcot, MK, Typhoon Lagoon, Wide World of Sports and Downtown Disney will be open tomorrow. MGM Studios, AK, Blizzard Beach, Pleasure Island, and Fort Wilderness will remain closed.
Hope everyone in FL stays safe.

I think DCL's decision to cancel the Wonder is the right one. It is only for 2 days and the 3 day cruise is too short in my opinion so can't imagine what a 2 day would be like.

I really feel for the cast members. Some people are really upset about this and you know they are going to take it out on people who had nothing to do with this. In fact many who work for DCL are going through the pain tha the hurricane is causing as well.

I'll second that motion Virgil on the name change.....your suggestion on the new name is OK by me.

What do you say Karen?

Welcome "aragorn59"

Virgil's suggestion works for me!

What do you think Paul?

Besides my vote doesn't count because I have cooties :D

Good luck Scuba Diver with the AC hookup.

It sounds too complicated to me, as I am not an electrician, but I think you might require one for that kind of hookup.

The generator obviously stays outside to prevent CO poisoning.

Running wires from the generator to the AC unit would require lots of wire.
I'm guessing the main problem is figuring out the route for your wires to take from Point A to Point B and then making the connections.
Are you electrically inclined?

You Know we still are the first ever 10 day Christmas cruise.

Mary aren't you watching the race?

We could do 10 day Holiday cruise. Remember that not all of us celebrate Christmas (we do but others don't).

Yes watching the race - yawn. If I'm going to be watching a race at night I'd like it to be a night race under the lights. Watching drivers trying to navigate sun glare is not my idea of fun. Do like seeing Jr. in a black car?

We have a TV and both computers in the same room. I'm typing at you guys while DH is in DVC chat and we are watching the race! We multi-task at this house!

I keep forgetting that it's late where you are. Still early evening here!
