BTW my pirate name is Castaway Flora the Drunk!pirate:

The problem with that is I am in a swing state, so I want to actually make my vote count (not that voting for Mickey doesn't count).

Hey Stacey, you don't know how many of those pertain to ME. Of course it was rolled tacos not a burrito.
What do you east coasters eat at 3 in the morning? Do you have greasy taco shops?

Now I'm going to test GaRry and Vicki's memories. We had this discussion on our first cruise thread.

I went to college in Flint, MI (not too awfully far from GaRry and Vicki). During some of those post fraternity party (and drunken stupor) searches for food, the favorite stop was the local Coney Islands. When I first got there, I assumed Coney Islands meant that they served coney dogs (hot dogs with chili and other fixins). Nope. In MI, Coney Islands are all night family style (think Denny's but family owned instead of a chain) restaurants, and they have one about every 3-4 miles on the main drag. I'll never forget a group of us going out after a semi formal (so we're all dressed pretty nicely), and the guys ordering fried smelt. Now I had never seen fried smelt before, but the combination of the smell and the grease means that I'll never order it!!! In fact I think they were served whole? At least that's my memory of the event.

Ok. Here's another one.

Boy scouts at a marine base

Marine Corp's General Reinwald was interviewed on the radio the other day and you have to read his reply to the lady who interviewed him concerning guns and children. Regardless
of how you feel about gun laws you gotta love this!!!!

This is one of the best comeback lines of all time. It is a portion of National Public Radio (NPR)interview between a female broadcaster and US Marine Corps General Reinwald who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military installation.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: So, General Reinwald, what things are you going to teach these young boys when they visit your base?

GENERAL REINWALD: We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery, and shooting.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible,
isn't it?

GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on the rifle range.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?

GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: But you're equipping them to become
violent killers.

GENERAL REINWALD: Well, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but you're not one, are you?

The radio went silent and the interview ended.

You've gotta love the Marines.

I truly truly love this one! I'm very blessed that since my Cub Scouts all had ties to our Navy base, I didn't fight the battle about teaching them BB guns and archery. Good friends of ours moved to Washington State, and he's battled that constantly as a Cub Master!

My sister was constantly trying to keep her young son (at the time) from doing the "gun thing". She kept all play guns out of the house and tried very hard.
She actually gave up after catching him time after time playing guns and shootin' up with sticks, bananas and other non-gun things. It's just part of growing up.

PS: He grew up to be fine young man anyway!

My brother shot the TV with a BB gun once (by accident). Boy was he scared.

The Real Titanic Story (I'm on TOP of world)
pirate:

There are many stories related to the sinking of the "Titanic."
Some have just come to light due to the success of the recent movie. For example, most people don't know that back in 1912 Hellmann’s mayonnaise was manufactured in England.

The "Titanic" was carrying 12,000 jars of the condiment scheduled for
delivery in Vera Cruz, Mexico, which was to be the next port of call for the great ship after New York City.

The Mexican people were eagerly awaiting delivery and were disconsolate at the loss. So much so that they declared a national day of mourning which they still observe today.

It is known, of course, as "Sinko de Mayo".

I have to agree with RJF. cinco de mayo- ha!gigglegiggle.

Fried smelt what the heck? I hear when people move away from So. Cal the one thing they truely miss is the Mexican food. There's nothing like rolled tacos with quacamole at two in the morning to set you straight.

So what did Florida do to mother nature to irk her so? I hope everyone is ok.

Yummm! That sounds good. I bet you didn't know that it's hard to get "real" mexican food up here in the northeast.

I KNEW I could count on you guys for a quick pick-me-up!!

Will have to tell my Marine Corps hubby that joke.

And I'm still laughing at the Sinko de Mayo!

We were in Belize and watched a boat sink early one morning. It was delivering potatoes and beer. You have never seen so many men with small boats come out of nowhere to rescue that beer!!!

True story....

There were no potatoes for dinner the rest of our stay.

:bounce: YAY SOX !!!!!!!!! WOO HOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!:Pinkbounc

I am still trying to catch up with the posts here, but had to get it off my chest.

I don't think anyone is officially organizing the DIS meet at MVMCP but Stacey and I can probably handle that. Notice how I just volunteered Stacey to help me. I guess I better ask her if it's okay.:bitelip:

Stacey is that okay with you?:flower3: All we have to do is pick a place to meet. Let me know.

I had heard that several people were meeting at the Liberty Tree Tavern for a 4:30 meal ...? Is this a meet?

Jenny...don't know about you, but I would have rather had the potatoes!!

Lynda.....Yes...when I answered LeiLani, I told her that there were a bunch of people meeting at Liberty Tree Tavern. My family doesn't get in early enough for that. So, you guys have the option of picking a spot sometime after 6:30 to meet us late-arrivals.....or ditching us altogether!!! :p

Taking Jordan to dance......back later!
