Hi everyone

Mary glad you are having a good time at WDW with the DVC Homecoming events. Any event at WDW is a good time. Have a safe trip home.

Vicki
:boat:

I guess I will be the "evening poster".....hello, everyone! Mary, thanks for the PM and I will get all that info. to you this weekend. We live in Big Bear, CA, home of your friendly neighborhood forest fires (well, in all fairness, none right now but we were all over CNN last October!) Hoping for a safe fire season this year, but that is doubtful, unfortunately, with our dead forest:( . Let's hope if another fire occurs, it will be during July when we are on our first WDW trip and I won't have to pack up my house again!
We know all about those lil' ones lacking respect for authority, little buggers. Add on a couple years and a bunch more hormones, and you have what I get to spend my days with (6th graders....keep you young, but drive you crazy!)

Off to Disneyland this weekend....

Alright, nite all....

Jeanette (yep, still age 28) :earsgirl: :earsboy: ::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo

 We're back, and I'm totally exhausted!
I need a vacation to recover from my vacation.
There is no way that any story I may tell could come close to Spin & Marty's (aka Lynda & Cash).....so I may not even try.

We had a great time, it was a lot colder than I expected. Congratulate me on NOT buying extra clothing....we just wore the same pants and jackets every evening. Eventually someone will feel sorry for you, thinking you're poor, and offer you free stuff. Sadly, we didn't stay long enough for that to happen..........

Will write more tomorrow, after I read all our pages and catch up. It's hard not to keep reading, waiting for each new tale from Lynda!

See you tomorrow....glad to be home!

Stacey

PS No drop off between the Doom Buggies and Madame Leota. The ride stopped for a few moments right in front of her, so I leaned over (much to the embarrassment of my kids) and used my handy-dandy pocket flashlight to look down there.
Speaking of embarrassing my kids, that has now become my favorite pasttime.
Jordan has decided she wants to be a dancing monkey in a show at DL. There's something every parent could be proud of.

Good Friday Morning Everyone!!!

Mary - sounds like Member Homecoming was a blast, wish we could have been there. Have a safe trip home, and I am glad your house was okay.

Stacey - welcome back, hope you had a great time.

Lynda - great picture of you and Cash outside of The Land.

Charlotte & Virgil - I know just what you feel like. It seemed like it rained everday last week. It has finally held off for a couple of days and the rivers are starting to recede. But guess what is forcasted for the weekend. You got it... RAIN. We wanted to put the boat in the river this weekend, but with all the rain forcasted and all the trash & trees floating down the Mississippi it doesn't look like it is going to happen.

ohiominnie & Diana - it must be recital weekend. My DD has her dance recital tomorrow night also. Last day of school today, recital tomorrow and then summer time. YEAH!!!

Taking a little time to brag. Oldest DD (14) got invited to the Presidental Youth Leadership Conference at the 2004 National Conventions. She can choose from the Democratic Convention in Boston, in July.(Which is the same time we will be in FL and over her birthday.) Or the Republican Convention in New York, at the end of Aug. I think she in going to choose the Republican Convention but she will have to miss a few days of school so we are still trying to decide. But it is a great opportunity for her and she can get 2 college credits for attending.

BTW - we let the cat out of the bag this week so anyone with teenage girls(or boys I guess):p if they want to email DD she would love to get to know them. Also I have an 8yo DD, who doesn't spend much time on the Internet, but if someone wants to email her I will pass it along and she can email back. If anyone is interested you can PM me or email me at LNaylor863@aol.com.

Everyone have a great day!

Ya know....I think that may be a WDW thing only. The rides are different. DL you go down in the stretch room and walk through the portrait hall before you get on your doombuggy. The ride starts lower so there wouldn't be excavation for that. Maybe they also had it at DL and then realized "we need some way to protect Leota" so they did it differently at WDW.

I distinctly remember reading something about how someone died after they got out of their doombuggy and tried to get to her and dropped two stories down. Hmmm. Sounds like I might have to do some research.

I forgot to add in my last post that I talked to Debbie(who handles all the dinning rotations) about dinning for our cruise. She said they have not released how many formal nights or what nights are going to be themed nights yet, and probably won't have this information until September. She did say that most likely there would not be more than 2 formal nights.

Welcome back Stacey and Mary.... Glad you both had a good time!

Leilani - that's great news about DW - Congratulations to her!

Well... I'm beginning to think it's time to start on the Ark. It rained all night... and schedule to rain more. Most of the surrounding counties have either closed school because of high water - or are on a 2 hour delay.....

DD Lauren had 5 costume changes in her recital - and 2 with only an act in between - DW was pretty frazzled - as she had to wear mouse makeup for some of them...... I threatened her - to not act out for DW.... She did great....

Hope everyone has a great Friday!

has everyone looked and thought about which style?????????

I think I'll have some made like the old ones for the 1st western cruise so I'll have them for the meet in aug. everything is done on that one so theres just the having them done. Think I'll try a few different style shirts this time:hyper: :teeth: or scrubs if I can find the right colors:teeth: :hyper:

gaRry, sent you a PM.

Stacey, glad to hear you had a great time. Donald is the sweetest man, I knew you would like him. Did he treat you well when it can time for the wine and cheese hours?!?

Mary, your trip sounded wonderful. Very good friends of mine were also attending the event. I will get to hear their stories next week.

pirate: Virgil, I hope the rain stops for you soon. but please, do not send it this way. We really need for our house to be worked on and it doesn't when it rains.

Morning all. The field trip went pretty well, except that they closed one of the two buildings because of some toxic paint that they were using. For some reason, they didn't know it was toxic until a whole group of people got sick and had to be taken to the hospital???? Luckily not our group! Anyway, my kids had already seen the building that was evacuated, so it worked out okay. And I now have my 30 seconds of fame. While we were waiting on the bus, a reporter from NPR interviewed me about whether the terrorism alert was affecting my travel plans. Answer was nope. She wanted my age and everything though!

And Barb, yes they were still setting up for the WWII dedication. I couldn't believe the number of chairs on the mall! I've been there for the labor day celebrations (Lots of union members), and the first Gulf War parade/celebration (Really cool military equipment, and an awesome parade/flyover), but I've never seen so many chairs set up! And there was a first aid station about every block. I'm sure they're worried about the average age of the attendees. One of the boys on the bus was hysterical. As we're talking about the memorial, he says "Who's going to come, since almost everyone who was in World War II is dead now?" After setting him straight about the fact that although most of them are in their 70s or older, there are many, many vets of WWII alive, one of the other boys said "My father fought in World War II." I think he was just a bit confused. Turned out it was the Gulf War - just a little different!

And GaRry, sign us up for those shirts! How do you want to handle the ordering? We're not going to WDW in August, but we will be at Hershey in September, so maybe we can do a 2 way transfer?

Jeanette, one of the people on my first cruise (Cotomom) was from that area of CA. While we were cruising, their neighborhood was on CNN in the midst of a wildfire. It turned out that their house was okay, but they looked into flying home from Grand Cayman. Those were the same people who were in the Roy Disney suite, and gave me a tour of it. Really, really nice (right LeiLani?)

That's all for now. Have a great weekend, and I'll look for you all in chat tonight!

Leilani -
Thanks for the info regarding theme nights. I hadn't even thought about 2 formal nights. Oh well, time to get shopping again!
Have a wonderful Friday everyone.
Cindy

gaRry - just let us know how you want to handle the orders for the t-shirts, and do you want them now or when it gets closer to Sept.

Virgil - hope the rain stops soon.

Lisa - you are correct those suites are wonderful. As a matter of fact we have the Roy suite for a cruise next summer. We have other things planned for next summer but it is too hard to give that up so we are going to have to work something out. I know, I know, I've got it pretty nice so quit complaining.:p

LeiLani

Lisa - have to listen to NPR to hear your interview....

I'm glad I'm not working in DC this weekend. I was absolutely speechless at the WW2 memorial... way late... but an excellent tribute....My father was a bombardier on a B-29 in WW2. I wish that his health was such that I could take him...

I read somewhere that at the rate of vets dying... and the number of vets at the dedication - that they expect somewhere between 30-50 vets dying at the celebration.

Many who are frail now won't even make the trip, but still, ya never know. Probably why they have first aid stations set up every block or so.

There were definitely a number of WWII vets in the area yesterday. Several in wheelchairs, but several that were getting along quite well.

When the Korean War Memorial was dedicated, good friends of my in-laws came to the dedication. The man is not in very good shape, and he marched about 1 1/2 miles in the heat. He made it, but definitely was complaining about it. I'm sure that they will make full use of those first aid stations. It's supposed to be at least mid-80s here, and I wouldn't be surprised to see 90s.
