Matt - that's great! I'm glad you've got a positive attitude about it.... I know that it's hard as a parent to drag your kids around.... but sometimes - you just have to go with the flow...

Well, Doc, I go away for a few minutes, and in the meantime, not only do you pirate: the top of the page, but also #3300!!
Good for you! Now I can go to bed. :p

Believe it or not, Matt, I was thinking about you while we were gone this weekend. I'm glad you found that it is pretty country there....and, like I said, you're closer to the ships than you were before!!

WVMD, sorry to hear about your former MIL, but nice to see your kids. Funerals in our family are always our "Family Reunions". We laugh and have a good time, but so far it's only been the "Great-greats & the Greats" who have passed away. It will much much harder when the next generation (my folks & aunts & uncles) reach their time. The only really hard one so far was my Grandma. She was the sweetest woman to walk the face of the Earth.
Have a safe drive.

I've been looking at our shore excursions. Wish I knew for sure if there were going to be ferries to St. John on Christmas Day. That sounds more fun than St. Thomas. Otherwise, we have things all decided. Think they'd laugh at me if I called and asked to reserve my shore excursions?? ::yes::

Actually, most of what we're doing is on our own. But we MUST do the Banana Boats twice. The last ride of the day was the longest and wildest, and we got to do that as a 2nd go around freebie. They dumped the bride off the boat. I think they did it on purpose. (Maybe it was the $50 I slipped 'em?)

Anywho.......I'm heading in for the night. Glad you had a good trip, Matt. Just remember, someday you will be responsible for the whole family....just take care of yourself for now. Off my "Mom" soapbox.

Goodnight all!!!

Stacey

Sorry...one last thing.... did you notice (anyone) that when DCL first posted the itinerary for the 10 day that San Juan was listed as a stop right after Key West?
You guys probably talked about this before I ever even signed up...if so, sorry! Just thought it was interesting, and wondered why they changed it.

GOOD WONDERFUL TUESDAY MORNING EAST & MIDS!!!

Stacey

OOOOOOOO, lookie..I'm at 300 posts

Thanks for the CC info, Stacey

I've heard about the fat-tired wheelchairs for sand use but it would be just too much trouble to use one... When I run out of road, I'll just have to hoof it...Let Cash earn his keep.:hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Funny thing, I e-mailed that accessible tour group in St. Thomas about that very thing. I haven't heard anything yet so at least their laughter wasn't immediate.....:hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

I never saw it but what do I know? Until I started researching shore excursions for this cruise I would have sworn that Maui was in here somewhere...:hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

YAYYYYYYYY! 300 posts.....almost all fluff...

Stacey - San Juan????

We booked the cruise the first day it became available and I never heard of San Juan being part of it.

There are a few 7 day cruises going to San Juan in early fall. Could that be what you are thinking of.

Good morning everyone! Great job at getting over 3300. A nice mix of both the day posters and night posters.

Congrats to Virgil on doing the magic 3300. Now who will get 3333? :D

Morning everyone! Lots to talk about this am.

Virgil, sorry about the funeral. What a great dad to make the drive. At least you'll get to see the kids. And what a cool smilie. I've never seen that one before!!

Stacey, sorry about confusing the ages of your kids. I must have been thinking of Christy (2belles mom?). My son will also be 11 on the cruise (bday the end of August). Sounds like I need to get him emailing your son as soon as he finds out (can't remember if you're one of the people keeping it a secret?) And as far as the 11 oclock flight, it's very do-able. We've never had sit down breakfast the last day. The buffet seems easier and more at our own pace (we always have late seating) and that way we can get off the ship and moving sooner. Of course, the 1st trip, we were headed to the MK, and the 2nd trip we met my mom and went to Cape Canaveral for the day, so that might explain it! Anyway, we were in the Magic Kingdom by 10:30 and that included a LONG shuttle ride to the old Hertz location and a big hassle getting a car that had gas ??? and would hold our luggage! There's a reason we used Avis the 2nd trip!

Lynda: The sidewalk around CC is pretty nice. I think it's macadam? and there's also the old runway that the shuttle runs on to serenity bay. And yes, ScottH from your thread is GaRry and my old friend. He's a really sweet guy! In fact, he and his wife are pictured on a couple of web-pages (I'm pretty sure they're in the current cruise passporter too) cause they stopped by the author's meet on the 1st Western and met Deb Willis and Dave and Jennifer (from Passporter). He's a burly mountain man type guy and his wife (Lynn if I remember right) is a petite lady with fuzzy hair. They're really sweet!

That's all I can remember that I was going to say. I'm sure I'll think of something else later (as if you were worried!). Have a great day everyone. Lisa

Hello everyone

Quick question for all you experienced DCL cruisers......

The people who had younger kids on previous trips ( mine, by the way, will be 10 and 6 )
Did they stay on board while docked in a port?

My thinking is.......my kids would not care less about leaving the ship while in port. I think they would rather stay in the kids club.
I will of course take them to see some of the sites but perhaps not for an extensive excursion.

Anyones comments would be much appreciated.

( just curious, as I want to book some excursions and I am not sure if I should include the kids or not )

Our flight after the cruise is 7pm..........what ever are WE to do?

Good Morning Guys,

I never remember hearing about San Juan. It will be nice like you said Stacey to be closer to the ship. In Georgia when we lived there we were a little closer. Got to go to school. Its so hot here. Have a Great Day,
Matt

Happy Tuesday everyone. I would also like to know if the children can stay on board when we are in port. My 7.5 year old daughter and 3.5 year old son (age at time of cruise) will also probably want to say on board for some of the ports if it is available. Does anyone who has been on DCL before know if you can?? I never asked on the last DC because DD was sick.

Cloudy and cold in NY today. More rain and snow showers coming our way.

Have a great day everyone. Talk to you all later. Gail

afff, will you have a rental car? Downtown Disney is a nice way to while away an afternoon. It will be crowded, given the time of year, but there's also a movie theatre that's super, and we've never had a problem getting tickets there.

Gail, glad to hear you had a nice time on your Celebrity cruise. I did a search and found your post. Were you like us the whole time, thinking "that's not how Disney does it!"? We had pretty much the same experience as you, but our daughter was with us and did NOT care for the kids' program. Kind of put a damper on it, but she had a great time in the ports and loved the food. Free sushi!

Sorry I haven't been here much, and don't really know what's going on. When I check in, there are 20++ pages to read, and I just don't have the time right now. I'm starting a new "career", still working at home, but very busy. Working harder than I did before, in fact. We're still on the cruise, though, don't forget about us! We still want to go to brunch, sit with everyone at dinner, partake in the wine party.

OK, someone here has a daughter that will be 13 on the cruise. Seems like they were keeping it a secret, but if your DD knows now, will you please PM me? Would like to get our girls corresponding, it's getting closer!

Afff and whoever else asked about kids staying on board. Our kids stayed on board in Nassau. They had absolutely no desire to go ashore there, and DH and I were just poking around the stores a bit, so they didn't miss much. One thing to know is that the pagers won't work if you're off the ship, so I wouldn't be gone for too long.

Thanks a bunch for the info, Lisa and Stacey
Good to know I won't be slogging through the sand so much. I'm hoping the airlines won't break the scooter this time...I guess I'll study the hassle-ness of even taking a scooter on board when I go to the Bahamas in May. THAT cruise has a large group of wheelchair (and scooter) users (plus Deb Wills in AKL (I've already warned ScottH to take his steel-toed sandals for toe-protection in the small ship elevators). If the scooter is broken, though, I'll get a REAL taste of how big the ship is....ON FOOT!

So, if the sand is restricted to the beach all I'll have to do is worry about a sudden shower...In December? Guess I'd better plan on using foot transport anyway in an emergency...Lots of emergencies lurking out there... Good thing Cash's cruise problems got ironed out..I could be relying on him a LOT!
I went on a Premier cruise in December 1990 and, although the water was warm enough for snorkeling, the wind whipped it up into pretty impressive waves and the little rain squalls got fierce, although brief. Fierce enough to have me packing a porcho and tie-downs for the scooter alone for both May AND December cruises...Thank goodness there's no tender to fool with.....::yes:: ::yes::

Good morning all. Glad to see everyone so busy on the boards last night. We went to the Jazz/Lakers game. It was a blast. Playoff intensity, shaq got thrown out and the Jazz won! Yeah! But my heart really wants Malone and Payton to get a ring! Malone still injured, so he didn't play.

Anyway, I'm a HUGE sports fan. DH just puts up with me and goes along (kinda like the cruises!)

Matt-glad you liked Mississippi. You new home and land sounds wonderful. Hopefully you have a boat to put on that lake!

For those asking-we've left DD at kid's club many a time and went on shore without her. We just made it very clear that she was to behave and she couldn't leave and not to beep us cuz we weren't there. Never had a problem. She knew what excursion we were on so in case of emergency she could tell them where we were. I'm sure many leave their kids when they get off the ship, but the question is----what if the parents don't make it back to the ship? I would have to guess, that it has actually happened. Good subject......

Anyway, got to get to work. I'll check back!

Linda

Got to keep that thread count up!

Matt, I meant to mention your trip. It sounds like the Mississippi move is a pretty sure thing now? I'm sure your parents will get a lot more house (for less taxes:)) for their money than in California. Hope it works out well!
