Good Thursday Morning Everyone!!

It is finally a nice sunny day here!:sunny: :sunny: :daisy:

Lisa - sounds like it was a bad ending to a great day. I am not sure I could have held my tongue on that one, which probably would have gotten me in to more trouble. I am sure you are proud of your daughter. It is always special when they receive awards for their hard work and achievements.

Jeanette - I have to agree with Stacey. I give high praise to teachers and I think they are extra special. After spending time at both the elementary and middle schools, I wonder sometimes how teachers do it and stay sane. I know I could not do it.

We finally got to take the boat out yesterday afternoon. It rained for the first 15 minutes, but then it turned out to be a nice afternoon. DH wants me to learn how to use it by myself so I can take DD and her friends out boating. Doesn't that sound like fun? Me, 5 teenage girls, and my 8yo all on a boat. Talk about going crasy. ::yes:: We hope to take it out again this weekend, but that four letter word is sneaking into the forecast.

Everyone have a great day.

LeiLani

GaRry-did you mean to say that you were mooning us??????

Tomorrow is DD 6th grade graduation. I don't even know why they have been going to school for the last two weeks cuz she sure hasn't done a darn thing (except make a mess of her room). Told her this morning if room was not clean tonight, no sleepover tomorrow for graduation. I've spent a fortune the last two weeks just on all the trips the 6th grade has done! How dare they spend my Disney money!

Okay, I got work to do. Talk to you later!

Linda

Lisa...Whoa! I have no idea what I would have done in that situation. From what I've learned with the school administration, talking to them will get you no where. That's part of why it's so hard for the teachers these days. They aren't allowed to discipline the kids, therefore the kids behave like animals (some...the rest are trying hard to learn something while trying to ignore the others' bad behavior)
If the schools won't make the kids behave, then they aren't going to do anything about an ill-behaved parent, especially since she wasn't on school property. What a sad shame.

And, Linda....isn't that the truth about the last week or 2 of school!

Forgot my "Good Morning" last night, so thank you LeiLani, for tossing one in there!!! NO BOAT with KIDS!!! Not me...wouldn't do it! I love boating, can trailer 'em, put them in the water, pull them out...all of it...but I don't envy you if you take all those girls out there!

Vicki....trade you some heat for some rain?

Paul...where have you been hiding? (Same for you Drpirate: )

Lynda...will send a PM now.....

Back later...no office today, laundry, take Jordan to school, grocery shopping.....Mom stuff!

Stacey

I talked to the teacher from the field trip. She said that the parent won't be allowed on any future trips.

I told her that I had thought of some possible things to prevent something like this. I suggested that they provide some sort of code of conduct for the family members on a field trip. It would list the location, dress code, expected behavior (i.e. no alcohol consumption, foul language, etc.) and anticipated costs. I've seen permission slips for my son which were similar (nothing about the alcohol, but it did list dress code, particularly for their trip to the county courthouse). I also suggested that if we had sat together, the other parents could have helped identify the problem before it got so bad. The teacher thanked me for the input, said that she had talked to the principal and vice principals and that they were going to have to do something for the future.

Jeanette, you have my undying respect. I could not be a teacher, but especially not a 6th grade teacher! Having 8 or 10 of them in girl scouts is bad enough!!! Heck, my one 6th grader is more than I can handle some days!

I'm not trading my beautiful weather today for anything. It's high 70s, and beautiful sun with a nice breeze. And I'm keeping it! Yeah, as if I have anything to do with it.

Tonight is a packed scouts evening. DS gets dropped off at 6 to complete: 1) horseback merit badge, 2) fireman chit, 3) totin chit (the sharp instrument one!), 3) swimming test, and 4) planning for the whitewater rafting trip. Oh, and then the normal troop meeting. Should be a fun filled night! While he's there, I have to go finish video taping the other girl for DD's girl scout project. Our original try didn't work out for her so I have to re-do it. It should be a pretty calm weekend though. The only thing planned is a sleepover Friday with one of DD's friends, and I sing at both services Sunday, so I should be able to catch up then.

Take care all! Lisa

Good afternoon everyone! :wizard:
Wow... you guys are all so busy it makes me tired just reading about it all! :faint:

Anyone who teaches or volunteers with middle schoolers is some sort of saint in my opinion!!
Of course anyone who teaches or volunteers at school at any level is wonderful... but middle school has got to be THE worst! All those hormones starting to fly around makes them all nuts!
I volunteered when both of my kids were in school.. from elementary right thru high school, including 6 years as a band parent with the WORST band director in the state. The stories I could tell would unfortunately scare you to the point where you would never let your child on a trip unaccompanied again!!!
My husband and I were always the bad guys... making everyone abide by the rules...including other parents and teachers!! It was a nightmare... but at least we were always there for our kids. THANK GOD IT IS OVER!! :cheer2: Now the most we have to deal with is relationship drama with them.... Piece of cake for the most part. :listen:

Lynda.. come on now.. we are waiting for the rest of the stories!:teeth:

Here's a 2 parter for you guys:

How many vehicles can the Magic Kingdom parking lot accomodate?
How many acres does the Magic Kingdom parking lot cover?

Good luck everyone.

Once upon a 4-day Disney cruise there was a lonely coffee table in a category 6 stateroom... Crayons, papers, and clothes were all it had seen until May 16, when suddenly a tray of goodies, two champagne glasses, ice, and a bottle of Champagne appeared on its little oval top....The note said (talented table) Bon Voyage from Cash, Woof Woof....

and each day thereafter a tray of goodies appeared...cheeses, fruit, cookies, chocolate covered strawberries...all delicious and shared about the ship....only the notes changed to...Compliments of your Concierge staff, Robin and Brian....

???
There is a special list. A mysterious list...People get on it somehow and get treated like royalty....unfed royalty....and no one knows how or why....not even Guest Relations...
Only thing to do...share the wealth or head for the next size up in bathing suits...
Cash and I were the only cruisers who supplied food to the dining room and laundry...

The most anticipated part of my land/land/land/sea/land vacation was the sure knowledge that somewhere in that wealth of vacation days was a pseudo-trip to Africa, where I would be able to fling wide my floor-length drapes, floor-length sheers, and floor-length sliding glass door and step out onto a narrow balcony to watch long-legged velvety-muzzled non-native animals feasting on native plants right under my balcony...

Well, my first view was the distance placement of fattish short-legged steer-like creatures with wide-spanned horns similar to those in the small herd that I had faced down as they wandered up my Texas driveway a few years ago.. and, directly under the balcony, where I had anticipated striped horses and gazelle, there was a curiously constructed dried up paved surface, bordered by a meandering 7-foot tall pseudo-bamboo fence complete with a narrow chute that ended in a narrower gate...
Goody, nighttime animal sleeping quarters, I thought and arranged the furniture for optimal viewing...... Later, no animals appeared, so I asked...??? It's for the guests, I was told...in case of an evacuation...

On May 14 there was a gathering of galactic proportions. All the Star Wars creatures were there...even the dreaded Storm Troopers...armed to the teeth, fearsome, striding about in their white plastic suits and scaring service dogs. Ha, Ha...I got one fired...so who is fearsome now?
Grrrr....next time the bears....

Jordan took care of a bear for Cash while we were at DL.
Wish I could figure out how to put up the picture, but I'm technologically challenged!

HOT HOT HOT here, and Jared has baseball at 5:00! I really wish they had not won their league...they're practicing now for the tournament. I know......Bad Mommy! I admit it!

Off & running!

Stacey

Stacey I'm still here!

I've been starting to think about how to save space packing. I figure instead of taking a couple pair of swin trunks I ccould take a couple of thongs and still save space!

What do you guys think? Genius huh?

I told my daughters that I was going to buy a thong to prove how uncomfortable I thought they would be........my lovely youngest daughter said:
"Mom, they don't make them that big!"

:scratchin Now, just exactly how big does a string need to be???
