Just got next years school calendar, and there is a big difference! We only have two days off for Easter vacation (March 24th and 25th) But, we have a full week off in April (23rd to 30th)

I am assuming that this is due to Passover occuring in April next year. I live in NY, which has a large Jewish population, so all public schools are closed for the Jewish holidays. Since we are not Jewish, and have a week off, I am wondering if the week in April is a good time to visit WDW? (crowd wise?)

Anyone else have school closings April 23rd-30th 2005?:D What about Easter breaks?

It is never too early to start planning another WDW trip !:D

Wow that is late for a Spring Break! I'm thinking that might be a good week to visit WDW.

Maybe 5 years ago I did go the last a week of April and found it pleasant but I don't know how it would be now.Alot of places have Spring Break Mid April no matter when Easter falls. That's the way it is here in east Tennessee and areas around us in Ga and AL.I think my god daughters in Indiana have mid April too. That's just a fraction of the population though!!! :)

And it's never to early to say...Have a Magical trip!!!::MickeyMo

I was thinking the same thing. I'm hoping that not too many states will have that week in April off and it could be a great time for us New Yorkers to get an "off season" week in.

With so many schools changing their schools now I am wondering if there is going to be such a thing as an "off season week" any more.

Your post made me check the calendar for schools in our area...

I was assuming we would have a week off at Easter, but it looks like it might be the 3rd week of April (18th-22nd).

Hummm.....

I'm not sure of the exact dates of our spring vacation for next year, but I have heard it will not be during Passover. I'm assuming that that means that it will be tied to Easter, whenever that is.

I would think that April wouldn't be as crowded next year since it's not during Easter.

The pubic schools (at least in central Indiana) are not tied to any religious holidays (Easter or Passover) any more - many church or private schools still do schedule around Easter. They get off either the last full week of March, the week that spans March/April, or the first full week of April. That is for the schools which operate under the traditional calendar (summer off). As some one mentioned many schools are going to alternate schedules with year round school. I do not know the school calendar, but I would guess it would be 12 weeks on and 3 weeks off for these schools.

Hey y'all!! Those of us down South usually have early-mid March Spring Breaks. I checked, and since Easter is in March next year, they are combining our Easter/Spring Break! Yucky for us!

Our winter break is very short next academic year...7 days! We like to drive down as we usually get btween 14-17 days, but that will not be possible. I will have to get creative w/the days off.

While schools aren't supposed to be tied to religious holidays the schools by me definitely choose to be. In Md the schools are mandated to be closed Good Friday and Easter Monday (they may not call them that in COMAR <-- the state law book) so our school gives the break to tie in. Our system also approves the school calendars for two years ahead so we have off the week preceding Easter & Easter Monday for 2005 and 2006. With Easter in March, I'd bet the last week in April will be a good time to go. Also, you must factor in that some schools get out for summer the week before Memorial day so all the less likely they'd be closed in late April!

I just got our school calendar for 2005 and we are also off the week of April 25-29. Like all obssessed DISer's I immediately thought not many schools will be off that week...let's plan it!! Looks like the place will be crawling with Long Islanders...hmm, is that a good thing or a bad thing?:scratchin

Our region in CT will have off April 18-22 for spring break next year. Kind of late but maybe a good time for WDW! Wait is there ever a bad time for a Disney visit???

I am headed down there this year the week after - the 25-30. I'll let everyone know what crowds and weather are like this year!

I don't think the calendar goes to the board until April here, so I don't expect to see one until May. I know that the whole Easter break thing will be all messed up, that we are getting 4 days added to the President's weekend in February to shore up withthe BOCES calander. Should be interesting. I'm not happy about it, but it should be interesting!

Massachusetts and Maine will have their sping break the week of April 18 next year. It is based on Patriots Day - the beginning of the Revolution, and is always the third Monday in April. New Hampshire will have theirs the following week. I believe that portions of CT also have the third week of April off. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
