2002 OKW Dues-CORRECTED! 3% Increase

I think that's the answer. The past few years, some of the DVC resort's property tax estimates were high, resulting in a reduction of the following year's actual dues. This has been the case at OKW the past 3 years (and could conceivably occur again this year, I suppose).

The difference in the actual dues paid and the reported dues owed could explain the difference.

It looks like they are sending the budget reports in the order of the annual meetings. BWV and VWL are last, I would expect to see something in the coming week, no one has reported receiving them yet.

I located my statement for 2000 and DVC did in fact overcharge me for taxes in the amount of $35.24 when they estimated what I would owe for the year 2000 after I closed in Nov 2000. When I take this figure and add it to what I paid in 2001 my total shows that I paid $3.12 per point. I should have known it would be highly unlikely for Disney to undercharge me. My monthly charge of $59.61 is lower than one would expect because DVC rebated what they oercharged me in 2000, but they did it over the course of the whole year rather than rebate it all in one month. A method of accounting favorable to DVC (rather than rebating the overcharge all at once) when you consider they are probably rebating money to thousands of first time purchasers. I appreciate the help from all of you, I wouldn't have searched for my 2000 statement without your help.

On the other hand, DVC does not charge a finance charge to spread your regular dues over 12 months. I guess that's how they justify returning the rebate over 12 months.

The adjustment for taxes happens to all members, not just first time. I don't know when they get the actual tax figure, but I guess it's during the year some time. So they estimate when the dues come out at the end of the year and then adjust it for the correct amount at the end of the following year. It's always been a credit for the 2 years I've been a member, but I guess it could also be an additional charge if they underestimate.

Glad we got that mystery solved, Bob! Learning about the return of tax overpayments is something we all learn. It's nice to see the bil come down a little.
