2001: a Space Odyssey in WDW Space Mountain

The Complete Walt Disney World 2009 states that Disney World’s Space Mountain is a tribute to the movie 2001: a Space Odyssey. You will notice many similarities between the ride and the film. For example, the shape of the long and large spacecraft during the lift hill looks like the Discovery One. The spool-like corners at the ride’s boarding zone is a copy of the axle area of Discovery One’s large revolving room. The blue-strobe tunnel at the start of Space Mountain is a clone of Discovery’s red tunnel. There are other aspects of the film that you could notice yourself in the ride. If you are a fan of 2001, you are going to love Disney World’s Space Mountain even more.
