20/20 Tonight: How the teen brain is wired....

I saw a commercial this AM for the 20/20 that is airing tonight. They are supposed to cover how the teenaged brain is "wired"....why teens want to skirt danger and don't seem to think rationally at times. Maybe some of us might want to record it....?

Yep. Three older teens here who will be home in a couple days for holidays from college. I think, God help me get them, esp the boys, to 25 in one piece. Some of the things I see my sons or their friends do i'm just still shaking my head.

Gotta catch this one, I have a 17 yo who I can't figure out for the life of me . Everytime I think I have him figured out, he changes on me! They say girls are moody

maybe it will help me to understand why my 18yo son knows everything and I at 41 have become brainless.
I imagine they are going to talk about how the way teen brains are wired argues against trying them as adults and giving them the death penalty. There are true chemical and develpmental differences and I don't believe they show maturity until mid 20's

I'll definitely be watching 20/20 tonight. I have a DS who just turned 25, but I think he still thinks with a "teen" brain, a DD21 who is actually quite mature and responsible for her age, and a DD15 who is extremely sensitive and trying to navigate her way through teendom.

I wonder if they have figured out why teens stay up till midnight and sleep till noon. If I go to bed at Midnight, I still get up at my regular 6:00 a.m. time.

My-15 yr old dd stays up till at least 1 on Sat. & Sunday. Comes downstairs at noon, watches an hour of tv, eats lunch, then asks when we are going shopping. God forbid she cleans anything. I finally put my foot down about a month ago-had enough.
