I plan on her eating things off my or my wife's plate. Did I read correctly that her drink will be free or do we have to purchase that? I understand that if want to get her something (not from our plates) we would pay for it, just was unsure about the drinks.

thanks

We mostly ate at buffets when my son was 2. I guess he ate off my plate even though he had his own plate. At other table service restaurants my DH and myself would just share him what we ordered. I don't remember ever having to pay for his drink.

My sister did the deluxe DP with her DD2 so they ate at many TS restaurants. She had planned to share her meals with her DD, but she also said on several occasions they brought something extra (a plate of pasta, etc) out free of charge.

I will have to ask her, but I assume she didn't pay extra for any drinks either.

When we went last year with our then 2yo, she was able to order off the kids menu. We went to CRT, CP and Akerhus. She was offered the same things as our 4yo. We were on the dining plan, if that makes any difference.

I figured we could order off the childrens menu for her but figured we would have to pay for it? is that not the case?

Like Tzolkin said we planned on her eating off our plates but on occasions we might order a side of pasta, fruit or french fries :)

We figured between two adults and her 8yr old sister we should be able to have enough for her to eat/pick off of.

In my family it is myself, my DH, my DD8 and DS3. We went when my DS was 2. If we ordered more than the 3 meals we were charged. Signatures may be a little more generous since you are paying so much. I never went to the signatures as I know my DS would not have sat through them. He had enough trouble sitting through Coral Reef. Speaking of which, that is a great example. I ordered an extra kids pizza as I knew my DH and myself would eat our entire meals. They did charge me for it. We paid OOP for that as we were on the dining plan. Hope that helps.

The first time I dined with my 2yo at Chef Mickey's they charged him. I only found out later that buffets are NOT supposed to charge kids under 3yo. I confirmed that with Disney Dining. No other buffet after that charged for him.

At order from the menu restaurant if you order a child's meal for your 2 year old, you will have to pay for what you order. The exceptions that I know about are CRT and Akershus. These are technically all you can eat meals.

At CRT, a 2 year old is given noodles with butter at no extra charge and a dessert. If your 2 year old wants a different kids meal there, you'll have to pay.

At Akershus, in my experience (2 times with 2 different 2 year olds) the 2 year old was allowed to order any kids meal at no extra charge. We were surprised the first time at Akershus, thinking we'd just be sharing with our 2 year old.

Otherwise, we mainly did character buffets and never had to pay for a drink for our 2 year old. They also gave her her own plate to eat from at the buffets.

like PP said they will not give you a kids meal or drink but you are welcome to share your meal and at a buffet you can take food for 2 yo to eat no problem. If you want a meal then you have to pay for it. We can get by no problem with sharing with yds (almost 3) and ods 5 and yds can share as well. I buy a side or something small for him as needed.

O'hana's at first charged us for my then allllmost 2 year old nephew (this was last May), but we mentioned to the server that he wasn't 2 yet and they took the charge right off, with no fuss.

We've never been charged for him at buffets, they've always provided an extra plate if we mentioned he was eating off our plate. We've only been charged for him in restaurants when we specifically ordered a child's meal. (of course all of this ends in July when he turns three. these will be the good old days)

This may have been what my sister was referring to... I know definitely they ate at both CRT and Akershus that trip. I believe she also mentioned being given extra food at no charge at an Italian restaurant. Many of their other meals were character buffets (where niece ate for free anyway).

Of all our trips, we had an under 3 more than half the time. I have never paid for them to eat at a buffet, or off our plates. But when we went to coral reef, we ordered our daugter fries, and we had to pay cash for them. Every place always gave her a drink (no charge).

This reminds me that you should always check your receipt. If you're on the dining plan, the server should know that you have a 2 year old, but we did once have a charge on the receipt for our 2 year old. We were eating with another family who wasn't on the dining plan, so I'm sure it wasn't obvious from our ADR. When I got the bill and saw the charge, I just mentioned that our daughter was 2 and they made the correction. No problem.

Yeah, I really did not look at the receipt very closely and did not notice we were charged for him until later. Lesson learned.

Specifically for drinks, we were charged at some restaurants and not at others. We expected to pay for it at all restaurants, so not being charged at some was just a nice bonus. We did also find that there were options other than the kids meals listed. When I mentioned that my 19 month old wouldn't eat an entire kids meal (app. entree dessert) they allowed me to just get the entree at some restaurants for a lower price. I was also able to ask for just ask for a bowl of penne with butter at some places, charged $4.99.
