How many people have purchased the 2 for1 ANNUAL PASS but, have not been able to get the 30% off rack rate??? We have been trying different days for a couple of months, and have not noticed any change from the rack rate. Starting to wonder if they if they oversold knowing they were only going to release a limited number of rooms.

I did purchase the 2 year AP this past June. I thought the room discounts would be offered. But I figured I always had the FAN Club and ENT to fall back on just in case AP's were not offered for my dates. It seems that no discounts are offered for my dates. The discounts that are offered for other dates are so dissappointing!
Universal seems to be giving the best discounts for 5 night stays. I wonder if this is their way of dealing with Disney's new pass that seems to get cheaper as you add more days. Disney has discounted their passes if you visit more days, and Universal will discount their rooms if you stay more days. So now, instead of mixing Disney & Universal, I can only pick 1 for each vacation if I want to save money.

I purchased the 2 Year for the price of 1 AP's in August 2003. We have stayed at RPR on each visit since then with a APH rate. In August 2003, we paid $119 per night. In January 2004 we paid $129(weekend). In March 2004, we paid $129(weekday). In May, we paid $119(weekday) and $149(weekend). We also had a room reserved at PBH for July for $186 per night but had to cancel that. We are going this month Dec. 26-29 but there were no discounted rates available for these dates other than AAA.

I think it just depends on your dates. Although I have not been hearing good things for 2005 discounted rates.

I also bought a 2 year AP but haven't seen any FAN, ENT, or APH rates for this summer. We also have APs from Disney. If there aren't any Universal discounts, we will stay at WDW and go over to Universal for a day or two. Originally we thought we'd stay 5 days, so they will be losing out but maybe they don't need to offer any discounts. Must say, I'm really disappointed.

We puchased in June as well, i have been checking various Months/Days 04-05, as well as calling the hotels directly, 1800beaStar and have had no luck. I thought that i was the only one having the problem until i read an earlier post. I realize they may have so many rooms allotted weekly or monthly even, i just hope that it wasn't a bait and switch. i have been randomly applying days from Jan-June, weekday or weekend check ins with no luck. So we began to wander what was going on. I realize tourism may be picking up but they should have taken that into consideration before they sold. Starting to feel like we bought a giftcard and if we don't use it within 30 days it will expire.

Remember the AP for 2yrs paying for only 1 is a good deal just for park access as for the hotel discounts withe the hotels being so popular I really don't think they will discount as they did when they first opened. On the AP last march I spent $550 on 1 AP and 3 power passes we did not get a discount for our room but we did save over $500 on the Mandra Spa, Dining & gifts we are going back in january no room discount but I still see the pass as excellent valueas the discounts saved have paid for them and we still get a years access to the park and attractions

I don't think that the passholder rate has anything to do with the buy one get one free deal. I have mine since July of 2003 & it has been a hit and miss for the room discounts. There were times that I got it & times that I didn't. I have it for this upcoming trip next week. In fact not only do I have the pass holder rate, but I also got the stay 3 nights get one free deal when I switched from the HRH to the RPR. I am paying $129 for the 17th, $149 for S/S and then I stay free for Monday! That averages to $106.75 per night & will also be getting the free parking deal at the resorts for passholders (the special they are runing).... I cannot complain. It is just a matter of your dates. Back in October, I couldn't get anything for HHN. I stayed off property then. I had a great rate for RPR in June ($119) .... Last Christmas & 2003 HHN it was $149 for the HRH. Like themepark says... it may just be your dates.

We also bought 1APH & 3 2PPP, back in June as i mentioned earlier i have tried several Days.Weeks,Months (Jan-June) at all three hotels and have had no luck. I agree the access to the parks are nice, however i'm sure many people bought it for the 30% off of rack rates based on availabilty combined with FOTL. When i saw that i thought it was a no brainer. But is it possible that they sold more passes, than rooms they had alloted not anticipating the success? I have called hotels directly and No Luck.

I don't thinbk they sold too many passes there is no way that the hotel; would be able to cope with all AP holders even without the 2 yrs for 1 offer but I don't understand the problem people bought a park pass not a discount card the discounts can be withdrawn at any time as they are sub benefits and as for the hotels it says up to 30% if available I wouldn't buy a pass based on that if I only wanted hotel discounts as you would more likely get AAA discount more easily

I have to agree with highlander 447. There are many people who live driving distance to Universal who also bought the pass. They bought for the parks, not the hotel discount. I bought for the parks, not the hotel discount. If I get it, I get it. If not... no biggie, I stay somewhere else. It is a park pass that comes with perks, not a discount card as highlander 447 has said. I am sorry that you haven't gotten a room with the discount. If you have the 2 year pass & just got it this past summer, you still have a year & a half left on it.... you will eventually end up with a discount at some point.

I agree if i lived closer i wouldn't worry as much about the Discount, but i'm coming from Atlanta. Therefore i bought for the Up to 30% discount as well
or should i say it had much greater weight when i made the decision.

The point i'm trying to make is, since when have so many people had such a hard time getting the APH discount, and if possible the demand far exceeded their expectations?

You are NOT alone! I haven't heard of anyone getting a decent rate for 2005. And it's not just APH. None of the discounts are that good. For my dates in Feb, AAA and APH are the same...$210.60/night for RPR. The best I got (and took) was the PCT for staying 4 or more nights. That was 198.90/night.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I know I am very disappointed. I am having a hard time justifying spending OVER $1,000 just for accomodations. I have AAA, a FAN card, an entertainment book, and WAS willing to buy an annual pass. That is IF I could get a good discount with it. Living in NY means that an AP would only be good for the discounts. I can only get to Orlando once per year.

Things are NOT looking good for those of us who are not millionaires!

And now Universal Raises Ticket Prices. Maybe Disney packages are starting to look better. Anyone having any luck?

Are the rates getting any better?

I am paying $139 for HRH pool view using APH for end of January - beginning of Feb.

I am paying $149.00 Bay View at Portofino Jan. 16th. That is AP rate :)

Haven't seen or heard of anything "good" beyond Jan. or early Feb.

I am looking for May, June and July they seem to be releasing them a month at a time. I called and complained, but have not receieved a response. Sounds like they pulled a bait and switch.
