2 Year Old's Bday

Hi,

I am thinking about bringing my soon to be 2 year old to Disney for her birthday. I would bring her to Magic Kingdom for a few hours one day and then SeaWorld (or Animal Kingdom) for another day. The rest of the time would be at the hotel (Hyatt Grand Cypress?) Thoughts on this?

Not clear—are you saying you will go before her birthday or on it? If on or after her bday, she will need to wear a mask, so that is something to consider.

I personally would not take a toddler to Disney now. Without fastpasses, the wait times are just a bit too much for a toddler in my opinion.

But if you really just want to go, see the castle, ride a couple of things, and spend time at the pool, it could be fun!

How would SeaWorld be for a toddler?

We took our 15 month old in October. She loved it! We went to MK, Epcot, and HS. HS is the worst for toddlers. I think MK and AK would be great for her.

We’ve taken my DD twice to disney (once when she was 14 months and once when she 17 months) and we are going again in April when she will be 20 months. We liked MK and EP best for her cause there were more rides at those parks than the other parks for her to do. We always made sure to get to the parks at rope drop because that allowed us to get on lots of rides with short waits. We also rode dumbo a bunch of times cause the line was never long and DD enjoyed that ride. I say take her and have fun!

So we switched our October trip to a water park/tourist destination in the state we live in. Where we live only those 5 and older have to wear masks. If I was you, I’d take your daughter to disney the day before she turns 2 so you don’t have to deal with the mask issue. I think Legoland and universal don’t require masks for 2 year olds so you may want to check seaworlds rules for masks

We went last October and I was astounded by all the 2-4 year old's keeping their masks on like good little soldiers. Actually, I was the one complaining like a big baby most of the time . A five year old policy seems so much more practical.

Plan to get to the parks early. I believe parking opens an hour before the park entry. If you do this, you will be able to enjoy at least a few rides before it gets super busy. As long as you don't have expectations to ' do it all' , then you will have a great time! I agree with previous poster, go before your DD birthday, or she will need to wear a mask. Have an amazing celebration!

how is your soon to be 2 year old with masks because on and after birthday 2 year olds are required to wear masks in the parks

How would SeaWorld be for a toddler?

I took my daughter a month away from her 2nd birthday. The Sesame Street section was a big hit. Their interactive elements like the Monster Foodie truck are open, so bring lots of sanitizer. Also, the lines weren't very socially distanced, but they were loading only every other row.

Seaworld requires masks for ages 2 and up (though I definitely saw a school-aged child on a ride with no mask, and plenty of noses hanging out).

Epcot is usually great for kids that age, but a lot of their interactive elements are closed. It was more fun for my 4 year old than it was for my youngest. We only did Epcot and Seaworld on our most recent trip.

I think MK and AK sound great. If she does not like to wear a mask go right before she turns two.
At that age the exact date means very little. Have a great time!!

We always rope drop and ride rides for the first few hours the park is open the go back to our hotel to play at the pool then nap. We almost always end up back at the parks after dinner when everyone gets the wiggles again. We always have so much fun during that last evening run to the parks. I vote AK over sea world.

You will have a blast! Took our 13 month old granddaughter last year for a week and she did great. Slept in the stroller when she got too tired and there was plenty for her to do.

We took our 7 month old and 2 year old back in September and we had a great time. We were there for 5 days and did MK 3 of those days. So many rides that everyone can enjoy together without having to worry about height restrictions. My kids get up at 6am so we always went to the parks early, left for an afternoon nap and went back late afternoon/evening. I say go for it! Also AK is my family’s favorite park.

Sounds amazing!! Friends are taking their toddlers next week (5 days, going to each park, one resort day) and now that my own kids are high school age, I am not sure where to direct them for a little in park toddler free time - and with COVID impacts to the interactive elements I’m even less certain of options that are open.

Places like Pooh’s thotful spot, Honey I shrunk the kids, the Flower and Garden playground and even the Epcot splash pad were favorites for my kids at that age to let them “run free” a bit. But two are closed and to my knowledge the Epcot ones are not open right? Is the Casey splash area open?

What do you recommend for similar in-park experiences/opportunities now - chances for toddlers to run/play a bit during the day?

Is Tom Sawyers island a spot for this and if so is it worth the wait to get back to land (I hear it’s lonnnngggg)?
