2 weeks today! - I am finally excited

I know a tad premature of the SDD but I just cannot believe that two weeks today we will finally be heading off to Heathrow for our flight on 19th August.

Having been made redundant in June we thought we may need to cancel .... however, some good fortune with getting over £2000 from Virgin for compensation following a delayed flight back in 2009 put us back on track. I was able to secure part time employment working 3 days a week on a high day rate to keep us ticking over.

Without wanting to go into details .... way to complicated! but these last couple of months have been horrific for us not just the job situation but we had the neighbour from hell inappropriately housed above us - with a string of nasty convictions that could go round the world twice we have been subjected to abuse, threats our property being damaged it has just been awful.. I have never felt I needed a Disney holiday more than now. With the aforementioned neighbour now evicted and our home life back to normal I feel relaxed for the first time in months.

I am even welling up at the thought of our magical holiday being so close and really do feel for those who encounter personal difficulties and circumstances and are not so lucky to have a getaway at the end of it.

Many thanks to all the posters on here who (without knowing it) have kept my chin up during such a difficult time.

aww I am so pleased for you. I know where you're coming from with the neighbour from hell, although your ex neighbour sounds 10x worse then ours was. We moved to get away from them and the buggers moved out the day before we did

WoW it sound like the position we was in last year just before we went.

Well the job front changed just before last years holiday but next door didn't until a few days ago when he shouted abuse and threats to us, the landlord was still not interested until i got him on cctv doing drugs on the front lawn.

The landlord got rid of him with in an hour and is creeping around us all the time now. But now that im pulling in a good wage again and the problem removed.

The next 55 days is going to be filled up with work and watching the Disney dvd over and over again.

So sorry to hear how tough you had it. DH and I had the neighbour from hell in our flat we had before we had DD. He would have music blaring all hours of the day and night. We would go round and ask for him to atleast turn it down and would have abuse thrown at is. We were once blocked in the flat as some one was trying to keep him in his flat as they wanted to stab him. DH and I were always stressed some thing wasnt happening we would just be waiting for it to happen. Then one day he died from a drug over dose shows what a sweat heart he was. I can really sympathise with you when you don't feel safe or happy in your own home.

I hope this holiday is the best family holiday yet.

My goodness, you so deserve your break !. No-one knows whats around the corner and i'm a firm believer in enjoying yourself while you have the health & energy to do it. Ive learn't painfully through my life that life really is too short, just enjoy every single moment with your family and friends. Hope you have the best holiday ever

I just wanted to say heartfelt thanks to all of you for your messages of support.

Not long now - DD has even produced (and laminated) the most wonderful colour-coded packing list - with different sections and colours according to what case and item needs to go in to! Once upon a time I use to do the planning - seems she has taken over now!

Wow sounds like you need this trip! We had a nightmare on the run up to our 2010 trip. Had to move house unexpectedly, stress at work etc and then trip was cancelled due to the ash cloud! Eventually we got to go a month later and it was the best holiday ever! We never thought it d happen! Enjoy every minute of your trip!
