So I am thinking about buying DVC for our family mainly because my daughter and 2 sons LOVE disney when me and DH say where do you want to go on vacation they each look at everyone and say disney? so i was thinking we could have a grand gathering with DH's brother and sister's family. It would be a total of 10 people and I was thinking like 10-14 days...if i were to buy DVC how many points would i have to borrow from future years
TIA

That depends on how many points your contract contains and 10-14 days in a GV can be quite a large amount of points especially when you are factoring in Friday and Saturday nights when points required are significantly higher than Sunday - Thursday nights.

To get a better idea go to the point charts and calculate various scenarios based on dates you may possibly want to travel and number of days you'd like. At the top of the page right here on this board ( below the egret ) is link to DVC point charts and you can go over the resorts that offer GVs (OKW,SSR,BWV,AKV. Also BLT will offer them as well once that resort opens)

If you didn't have enough points from banking and borrowing your own points allotment then you can rent points from another DVC member to transfer to your account to cover what you'd need.

Wanted to also add to my post that you can have 4 years worth of your points to use for a reservation with banked/borrowed/current UY points and you schedule the trip so some days of it are for last days of the current UY and some days of the trip would then fall when the next UY begins at which point you could borrow the next upcoming UY allotment of points

:scared1: This is alot to visualize, I know, so just to give you a better picture, for example :

you have 200 pts with October UY

you bank Oct 2008 UY points into Oct 2009 UY
(these pts are available then Oct 1 2009 - Sept 30 2010)

you borrow Oct 2010 UY points into Oct 2009 UY
(these pts are available then Oct 1 2009 - Sept 30 2010)

you have current UY points for Oct 2009 UY
(these pts are available Oct 1 2009 - Sept 30 2010)

So you now have 600 pts to use between Oct 1 2009 - Sept 30 2010
and you plan trip that uses these 600 pts beginning on Sept 23 2010 that uses up this entire 600 pts between Sept 23 2010 thru Sept 30 2010
~ BUT then you can continue with additional days on this same trip from
OCT 1 2010 that an additional allotment of another 200 points would cover for you because on OCT 1 2010 you would be able to utilize the 200 points from your October 2011 points allotment (because October 2011 allotment of points would be available to borrow in to your 2010 UY on Oct 1 2010)

Hope this helps :goodvibes

The problem for us is that if you do all this banking and borrowing then you're SOL for vacations for 3-4 years in a row 'cuz then you're all out of points. I HATE being out of points 'cuz it means I can't plan any trips! I hate not having a ticker!:goodvibes

definitely.

hope I can work with less points...

Two weeks in a GV at OKW would be from 712 points to 1308 points depending on when you go. BWV would be from 1116 to 1932 points.

what ever it comes up to...is really a lot of points...and probably more than i will ever own in this lifetime....GOODLUCK:goodvibes

2 bedrooms at BW sleep 8, not 12. 4 in the 2nd bedroom, 2 on the sleeper sofa in the living room, and 2 in the king bed in the master bedroom. If you have children under three, you can sleep one on the daybed/bench in the 2nd bedroom.

Also, you will only be able to use 3 years worth of points, as you can only bank one year ahead and borrow one year into current.

Good luck and happy planning.

There isn't a daybed/bench in the second bedroom of the two bedroom lockoff at BW. The bench is only in the dedicated studios (studio plus) and it's about crib sized and not very good to sleep on anyway. My son refused to sleep on it when he was about 5.
